I bought a small peice of live rock about two weeks ago and put it in my refugium. Today I noticed little tiny baby fish "fry". All I can think of is that eggs were laid on the live rock and fertilized before I brought it home? I wonder what they species they are...
i'd Say just dump one salt shaker in there u should be good ... lol jk its alot more complex then that . . . its not how many feet its how many gallons . . . and its not table salt XD
So, what do you do with them? Do you sell them? I am so new to the hobby, and I am considering the possibility of breeding. What size tank are these little fellows in and how did you seprate them from the parents?
I said I was new.. I just set up a 29G BioCube on Friday! I know have two yellow-tailed blue damsels to help cycle the tank.
proberly thats what i do i take the female out as soon as shes layed the eggs and then leave the male in asoon as the fry start to hatch remove the male

wow.... rotifers are baby sea monkeys? I would have expected a breeder to know better than that. Sea monkeys (aka brine shrimp) are completely different from rotifers
they are all specs

1/2 cup per gallon of water.
So If you have a 10 gallon tank you need 5 cups of salt and so on ..
livepink679 2 years ago
read the xalt box mixture. the salinity should be 1.022-1.024

actually, baby clownfish are supposed to eat rodiphers or something like that. Brine shrimp come like 3 days after they hatch

smaller tanks are much more work than larger tanks, especially for a new hobbyist... it sounds wrong, but.... well good luck

My PH is 7.5 other than that my tank is healthy but my sea monkeys NEVER HATCH!!!
My salt water weight is normal .023 - .022
the temp is 75 should I make it hotter to 80?
inachu 3 years ago
I hatch mine in an old feed container with water from my marine tank and an air stone. 1-2 days later food for my perculas.
mexxie70 3 years ago
the optimum temp is more like 80-82 degrees F. with a salinity of 1.018-1.020. and your ph should be more like 8.0+.
anonymous6366 3 years ago
IMO warmer water is better. around 80 seems to be better for pretty much any saltwater creature you may have.

the fry eat rottifers(baby sea monkeys)and the rottifers have to be fed too(dt's--micro algea

@philgmiami
The fry eat rotifers, which are microscopic creatures, not baby brine shrimp.
