well the short story is jim was in a cabin with a man and a gun, and a cop shot jom thinking he was the other man. jim died and went into sams body who had just died. when sam woke up he had no memory of anything. everyone sees him as sam but melinda knows its jim.

Melinda doesn't see Jim, she sees Sam. we, the audience, see Jim. she even says it in the episode when Sam wakes up "I see the same guy you see, different hair, but when I look in those eyes I know he's in there somewhere" something along those lines.

Yeah, sure it's sad that he died. But is that really a reason to think that GW suddenly sucks? I mean, come on, you rarely see Sam, and there is a lot of Jim - Mel interaction. I think it's great that we can see now how Jim and mel fell in love, because obviously, they will fall in love again, jim/sam will remember again. we just gotta keep watching it, instead being sad that he's gone. Because he's still there!

when i watched that my mouth just hung open! it was just melinda said! "NOT YOU!" and im NOT one to cry over something on tv, but this was just too much---i cried harder than i ever have!!! Its all because jim was a good guy ya know? when he went to put away chairs, he went into the house! and then it happened. its funny- i was eating nerds and when the whole shot thing happend i just kept my mouth opend with all these nerds in it! but i didnt care-jim is my fav! he is gonna be so missed!
