The Mercator is handmade by old men in Germany. Considering how these knives are hand made by workers in one of the richest countries in the world, the price is incredible for such quality.
i had a stainless version of this knife. it was very sharp and i liked the steel much better than a swiss army knife blade steel. it's actually very slim but long, so it can be a tactical knife to me and a good edc too. but the spring of the knife broke on me. so i don't h
Someday when I get the time I will do a more complete review of the K55K here on YouTube. This is a good review but it is not coming from a person who carries the knife everyday.
The one shown is a newer make. noteable by the lock protruding above the handle in the open position and the plastic spacer in the handle is black instead of red. The more videos we can all get out there about these knives the better.
For cost, ease of carry, durability and maintenance they can't be beat. Good Vid..
These knives were real popular at gun shows when I was a kid. My uncle told me that these knives along w/ straight razors were often carried by bouncers in their socks during prohibition days. He worked in a "speak easy", and that's what he carried, along w/ a Colt 1903 32acp, tucked in his waistband. Take care
@WeAllJuggleKnives oss, sensei. The truth is that your channel is probably one of the most diversified channels in terms of brands and cultural knives. You don't just review 38213721 spydercos in a row, you in fact show us diferent knives from diferent manufacturers and that helps the knife lovers to expand their knowledge!
Thanks for the review! Just a minor correction: Mercator nowadays is the brand not the manufacturer. Since 1995 the Mercator knives are produced by Otter Messer in Solingen.
Mercator knives have a long history of reliable service. Inexpensive does NOT mean cheap! I carry my mercator ten times more often than my Benchmade 710 or my Emerson CQC7 and it has NEVER let me down.
That's a nice old school gentlemanly knife, it also resembles a little bit the douk douk designs. looks for dor edc!
I've been watching your knife fighting videos and although I think you got some relly good content out there, I was wondering if you could do a video on non lethal knife defense. thanks!
Popular with 1960s street gangs because they were often missed during police pat-downs.
I started carrying one when I went to a fully serrated Endura and found some tasks are really better served with a plain edge. It DISAPPEARS in any pocket, even the back pocket.
It's kind of crude and industrial, but it works. If you're going to EDC it, you may as well force a patina and be done with it.
