I would not comment on your violin, because as you said, it is a little bit rusty, I understand it. Your playing turned out well, compare to the video I watched lately - tong hua but his own version... he put a lot of emotion that it made his playing sucks - "does really suck!" I repeat... Yours was played beautifully and all you need is a little tuning of your violin. :) I wish I could play tong hua as well as yours.

at the beginning work on that part because u played a note to high and hold ur violin up a little higher and when u get to the d or g string lift your bow hand a little higher

Not bad. The way u hold ur violin is kind of wrong. The violin is tilting to the right abit too much. U should be able to hold the violin up without the support of ur left hand. Also ur left thumb should be straight and more to the left-hand side of the violin's neck rather than bent and underneath. 1 more thing, try to use ur little finger instead of playing open string. Will sound better.

Im not trying to sound horrible. Juz wanna help u to improve as I play the violin too.

U just practice sliding one of ur fingers up and down ur fingerboard and gradually let them slide closer and closer and pretty soon ur vibrating...took me 3 months to learn vibrato...

By the way, your left thumb should be at the SIDE of the violin, not at the bottom. It won't give you enough support. Don't be afraid - your violin won't drop! =)

I have played this on the violin before. Basically what I did was to use the piano score. It comes with 3 lines - Vocal, Treble and Bass Clef. Just play the vocal line. *grin*

I've played it on the violin as well, as many other have said, legato works quite well in this piece. Try adding more vibrato on the long notes. One extra piece of advice from me, try avoiding open strings at all costs, they make good music sound like CRAP. Then again... I've been playing violin for 10 years now... Well, good luck to you!

TRY: staighten out wrist and forearm, move thumb to the side of neck (not bottom) where it touches the fingerboard. after that, vibrato should be much easier. intonation, bow technique... just gotta practice more, and accurately.
