Hey i have a problem... I dont own a MIDI keyboard, so I basicly just hit the internal keyboard in logic with my mouse.. But when I start recording, nothings happening! I'm recording, the bar-indicator at the top gets red, but no green baar gets there like in 5:16 ... PLEASE HELP
its really amazing what you can do with logic studio. i'm starting to become an avid user of the program. check out the music "DON'T LOOK BACK" that i composed using logic studio. i have others too.
I need help using Audio Units. My work flow is basically dumping beats into logic and arrange into a song format i have no problem dong that. MY MAIN PROBLEM IS: I want to load my AU plugin ( mini moog , Arturia etc ) and play and record them to my beat/song. I can load them but they wont play unless i hit a key in piano roll but when i hit record it doesnt record the wave data, basically can someone tell me step by step to recoriding AU instruments please....?
I couldn't figure out how to separate the elements of a drum track or how to quantize an ENTIRE track before this. Thank you! I hope to become as proficient as you are in this powerful program. Music software is intimidating to newbs like me. You know how to put it plain english.... a great skill! Peace.
I think that your videos are the best for Logic Pro on You tube. I still need to learn to record audio tracks. I imagine you have another video for that?
how to record audio-tracks? Just create a audiotrack, the choose input 1. Make sure the red recordingbutton is marked. Then u should have sound! hope that helped u. / The END Productions
this is the best tutorial - leave it to someone who is great at what they do to explain it simply. A question - how about recording levels when using the loops - do you do that in the mixer? do you have to set them before you record? thanks!
I have a Mac Book Pro with 4 gigs of ram and dual intel processors what do i need to complete a simple logic pro rig. Midi controller, audio interfaces etc. Helpppppppppppppppp.
I use alot of 3rd party fx/instruments. You dont make an external instrument. You have to make sure you have an audio unit version of the instrument or you need a vst to au wrapper. Also, PC vst's are not compatible with osx.
@mrmigtight hey so how do i set up and use AU instruments???? i install a few on my mac but when i go into logic i cannot find them in the logic library...any help pls!!!!thanks men!!!!!!
Hey man, thanks for making these videos! They are very helpful. My question is, do you ever use non-apple virtual instruments like Arturia/Native Instruments/etc? I am trying to use my arturia analog in Logic and I can't figure it out. I know that you have to create an external midi track but I don't know where to go from there. Any help is much appreciated bro!
Hey just a quick question. I am using my midi keyboard to enter notes into logic. However there is like a second of silence at the start and end of my loop. Therefore when I command r and repeat the loops broken. Any idea how to fix this >
You're going to have to move the first loop to the first beat of the bar after you trim the silence of the sample and then slice off the silence and then use the command r function. Where are the samples located that you are using? are they apple loops or are you triggering from the exs sampler?
yep i know, but there are musicprogrammes where you can make an acapella out of the orriginal song. I'm not sure if it's possible with Logic, but if you google 'making an acapella' you find a lot of instructions. I tought those were quite difficult without seeing the screen.., so maybe you can teach us?
barendbos, I'm not sure where you heard about that but it's not possible to make an acapella from a fully mixed record unless, and this is very rare, the vocal is recorded off center(left side or right) like a karaoke track.
I have on occasion been forced to filter all of the low and mid frequencies out of a track to remix a record. You can hear the instruments poking through and you have to try to mix your new production over it. Its not a true acapella but its a last resort when there is no acapella.
@mrmigtight thank you!! :D

i really appreciate your effort!! You're really the best in logic tutorials. Could you do a tutorial of making a a capella?
barendbos 3 years ago
Thanks barendbos, Im not sure I understand the part about the acapella. An acapella is a vocal without music.

Do u mean extracting an acapella from someone else's song? Not a song you created in Logic?
mrmigtight 3 years ago
that's exactly what i mean :), i believe it's something with using the instrumental and the original version...
