  • does he still live?

  • @mybulletfan100 yes ;)

  • @RaFcPaSsIoN oh ok good

  • oh my.. Poor guy

  • ALLE VANLOO ALLE VANLOO!!!!

  • eng

  • The "defrilibrator" or something has given him a shock, you should watch that at 0:12 , that made him stand up again , it saved his life!

  • @FrederiqueValerio

Because of that thing that shocked him. It was well known he had heart problems so they planted that little device on his heart so he could be revived immediately if his heart should stop beating.

  • @tuningmaster60 it was an ICD. a shock device planted in the heart of athletes with a condition

  • @gatorfan122394

It's not a treatment specific for athletes with a condition. Everyone who suffers from Ventricular or atrial fibrillation is entitled to an ICD, when a pacemaker won't suffice. I'm not that well traversed with cardiac diseases, so these are the only two examples I can think of.

  • Thank You all for the reactions !

  • happened so sudden... weird

  • i want a pacemaker just in case this ever happened to me

  • BIOTRONIK rules!!!!

    Probably a Lumax 340 DR-T

  • hello,,boston scientific ,.......... : )

  • my dad has had one of them fitted they are awsomez

  • Anthony van Loo olé olé Anthony Anthony Anthony Van Loo

I hope u can still playing it would be a great support to our city. I wish u luck but u need to watch out.

  • Great to see he's ok. Nice little piece of technique and science.

Stupid question, is he allowed to drive a car?

I mean if attacks like this can happen any time it could be kinda dangerous.

  • He is still alive i seen this on the news and they said that he will recover from this incident.

  • Great news that the ICD worked and saved his life - the question I have is what is the reason for his ICD? Even with a device some people should not be participating in sports - This is really an amazing video!

We wish him all the best!

  • WTF 0:14 scary or what, electric shock kicks in !! then his ok, "aint tha aboutabitch",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • He dropped to the floor because his heart was beating 300BPM (the device measured it)

He did not have a cardiac arrest, although a heartbeat that high can probably lead to cardiac attack or cardiac arrest.

One or two days after he dropped to the floor,

he felt as healthy as ever before.

    SO HE IS ALIVE PEOPLE

  • 0:14

    scary

  • english update? he die or anything?

  • k chebre

  • r u f*****n serious??

  • ha! lol

  • This vid looked so HD :o

  • Thank God for technology.

  • they wouldn't use a defibrillator with his shirt still on it would set his shirt on fire plus that guy in the teal shirt didn't have anything in his hands.

  • It's implanted in his body.

  • He had an internal defibrillator. He had obviously had a ventricular tachycardia history to have the device inserted already.

These defibrillators can shock when the heart is at different rates depending on the setting. I would think his was set fairly high to allow him to run as much as he has to in football (soccer).

  • oh fuck......what so what if someone was to just scare him and his heart was to skip a jump would that thing shock him? Or does the heart have to reach a certain temperature?

  • it has to be stopped for 4 seconds, then he gets a shock

  • 200-300bpm then it goes off

  • It happens only when the heart doesn't do a certain amount of beats per minute.

  • What did happen (prof Pedro Brugada, his heart specialist explained in newspaper): his haert beated 400 times a minut during 12 to 15 seconds. It's called a cardial arrest, but mechanical, his heart did'n stop, but due to the speed of beating, it coudn't pump the blood throught his body. The effect with a cardial arrest is the same. After 6 seconds, he fell down. Then the defibrillator gave a shock of 700 Volt. His heartbeat became normal. The defibrillator has also an sending device to the prof

  • ... so that within a minute tha prof saw on his pc what happened. A brilliant piece of technologie he got in august 2008.

  • so is his thing he has implanted basically lyk a shock restart for his heart??

  • yep, without it he would have died

  • In a way, it's a nice video in terms how valuable technology is and what it is capable.

This could have gone very badly if he didn't have the ICD implanted, now it's merely a showcase of how good it works. He even went on to celebrate his team's victory (which saved them from relegation) after he got back from the hospital.

  • bende dopers!

  • That is intense! Much respect to technology!

  • yikes!

  • mysteryjedi is right. it wasn't a heart attack, which can be thought of as a "plumbing" issue) but went into cardiac arrest due to arrhythmia (an "electrical" issue). He would have likely died od SCD (sudden cardiac death) if not for the ICD implant, CPR seldom helps in these instances and he would have had about 4 minutes to get defibbed.

And likely it is HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy).

  • What's amazing is that they (the team/league) let him play competitive sports with the disease. It'snot something he should have been doing...especially at a high level. Basketball, soccer (football), rugby, running, are the worst thing he could be doing. ICDs can't fix everything.

I have HCM (diagnosed a year ago) and had to stop local rugby because of it. It's forces a lot of really shitty lifestyle changes, especially cause you usually feel fine and think you can do anything normal.

  • My ICD goes in in 3 weeks. It is kinda hard to watch this video, it was posted on my rugby teams email list. It freaked me out a bit knowing that could have been me and as I didn't have an ICD while playing I likely wouldn't have gotten back up. Many on my team don't know why I quit....guess this opens the door to that email. ugh.

  • Actually, giannisful, clover619123 is correct...the player did NOT have a heart attack (which is loss of blood flow to an area of heart muscle with resultant death of that area of muscle). What happened was an arrhythmia (abnormal rhythm of cardiac contraction). Defibrillators are useless in heart attacks but are very effective in resetting the heart's rhythm. I'm betting he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Oh, and I'm a medical student, so I actually do know what I'm talking about.

  • he didnt have a heart attack. a heart attack is when a specific area of the heart is lacking oxygen and blood is not being profused to the area. what he had was a sudden heart arrhythmia. it is an irregular rhythm of the heart that can be deadly. with his defibrillator, the shock was able to reset his heart rhythm to a normal.

  • I thought people usually get some warning signs before a heart attack. I'd be interested to know if he had anything like chest pains in the moments leading up to his collapse. It would be scary to think that this could happen to anyone without any warning, especially if you happen to be alone.

  • I don't think he had a heart attack. His heart just stop beating just like that. You don't feel pain like an heart attack. You feel weird, you're heart is beating irregularly, but you don't feel pain.

My neighbor suffers from Cardiac arrhythmia.

Once his heart started to beat at 190 (an opposite effect that might happen as well as the heart stopping) for no reason but he had the time to take his pills and to call 911. Fortunately, he never passed out and he never felt any pain, just weird.

  • i think the players had a arythmia, his heart beats too much fast so he stopped

  • It's exactly the way you told it. No pain, but so weird that you can feel panic. And afterwards, when the crisis is over you feel pretty excausted. My father has it, so i know how they feel. This guy Van Loo knew about his problem and he has a Defibrillator which saved his life.

  • Anthony sterkte van heel rotterdam en FEYENOORD

    -010-

    you'll never walk alone

  • not a doctor but a defibrillator saved his life after a cardiac arrest

van loo was known to have cardiologic problems so to be sure doctors gave him a defibrillator in case his heart stopped (which it did in the game against antwerp)

  • but he has a implantable defibrillator?

  • correct. he has a heart condition that led to the implantation of one a couple years ago -- what you see in this video is that he had a heart attack, and the defibrillator autonomously kicked in and restarted his heart -- you can see the electric shock at 0:14 jolting him back to life. a very cool piece of medical science, certainly.

  • His heart didn't stop. It was beating too fast and the defibrillator sends a shock that resets the firing through thre nodes.

  • his heart did stop for 4 seconds! and then the defibrillator has given a shock to start the hartbeating again!

  • u need to ask Vanloo by yourself he is the one who knows exactly his heart stopped for few seconds not cause its going to fast Defribilator is for heartstops peacemaker is for beating to fast U need to be in the case xD

  • someone speaks english or italian to explain what happened?

  • he was in cardiac arrest for a moment

  • The guy who falls on the image had a heart attack and he survived with luck.

Thank god that he survived :D

  • he had a heart attack -- he was diagnosed with heart problems a couple years back, and implanted with an internal defibrillator, which is such a cool piece of technology. he had a heart attack, and the defibrillator autonomously kicked in and restarted his heart -- you can see the electric shock at 0:14

  • @Recoil42

    completely correct!

  • Beterschap gewenst!

  • Pfff... Verschrikkelijk.

  • veel te zot

best dadde der zijt door gekomen he makker
