Personally thought the movie failed non-comic readers in 2 ways.

1) They failed to show how much of a "video game world" it was so people are like "wha?!!" at the first fight.

2) During the first fight, they take out the "Scott is the best fighter in the province!" line.

Definitely a good movie though but at least #2 was big. During the interviews they say something about playing SF translating into fighting skill, but Scott doesn't even come off as that much of a gamer in the movie. Weh.

This movie by all means was the best movie I've ever seen so far. It still continues to be my favorite movie and I've seen it about 5 times. It still never gets old. I'm not sure why it didn't get much money, it's irony I tell you they pay for horrible movies but this AMAZING one? Cmon guys. it's worth it.

Don't think Cera was the right person for the role. He has typecasted himself into social inept teen that has no clue about women. In this movie, he acts exactly like he does in his other films only the script makes him out to be a womaniser to the extreme. I reckon it is actually the reason the film bombed so badly at the box office. Just sends mixed messages to the audience.

@jackjack121 I am an adult and I loved the film. I did not know anything about the comic. Not much of comic person, but have enjoyed film adaptations over the years. Could it be marketing issues? This film was recommended by a Dutch friend of mine, he basically said you like games, music and comic heroes you will love this! I was dubious before i watched it, but was totally blown away. Also the director, already a favourite of mine, can do no wrong.

I must say the film may be a little before it's time. It could still get the Shawshank Redemption treatment; in that it gained popularity along the years via word of mouth. Apparently it bombed big time in the cinemas, but sheer word of mouth has meant; it is on many top ten, if not number one! 'best movies of all time' list. So get out there and spread the word!
