@TheCrimsonConspiracy - The odds are very low if done for the correct indications. There are many reasons for dislocations laxity on the medial side is one of them. There is patella alta (rare), mal-aligmnet of the tibial tubercle, congenital abnormalities, muscle imbalance and others. If the MPFL (medial patella femoral ligament) is torn than a reconstruction or repair may be needed.
