This method is way to boring. Who wants to kill from afar? Now see what i do is, i lay a salt like under a oak tree(one with low branches). Climb up on one of the lower branches and wait. Good ways to scare away deer:

1. Chambering a round AFTER sighting a deer.

2. "Flipping" the safety the way this man just did.

Both of those things will make noise, and deer are skittish, with very good hearing. Before the shot, quietly ease the safety into FIRE position if you have a lever safety. I carelessly flipped my safety once before while in the stand and almost spooked a good shot.
