@85badboy The space between rows is for accessibility and easy maintenance. The sun doesn't care about panel spacing. The extra rail lengths were cut-off at a later date.
Thx 4 posting. I love your daughter helping. We just did a 10kW in England and my 9 yr son was really up for helping - mad nutter was carrying the 20kg panels....
@delusion215 I did all the inside work as well (including tie into the breaker box). I just had to get a building permit and have the county inspector check off all my work.
@gurung71 it really depends. If you hire a build to install the system for you, it will cost a shet load. But if you DIY you can really save alot. The cheapest sold panel I found online come down to $1.19 a watt and plus the cost of the inverter. :)
Hello "kc7ekk", how much is the investment in the solar installation kit? I will thank you for your response and have agreat time with your family.

@subhankar5584 Home-made are fine for a small installation and makes for a great weekend project if you have all the materials already at hand.
For a large 2KW+, whole-house installation, it quickly gets impractical / expensive. I don't want to sacrifice aesthetics, convince and luxury.
I'm all for building things myself but I don't care for climbing on a snow covered roof to remove/repair a defective home-made panel.
How do you build a grid tied inverter?

I have a question. I see that you DIY. Does the tax credit restrict you on where to acquire the system?
yadac123 3 months ago
@yadac123 No it doesn't. You just have to fill out extra paperwork and make sure you get the proper permits before hand.
