I really want to move to Sweden. My main concern would be learning the language. I can speak fluent Russian and I can speak fluent English, but no Swedish, yet.
So how would that affect my life there? Aside from that, is Sweden at all xenophobic as a majority?
@IggyZadr Everyone knows English, some speak with heavy accent but we all understand it. There are many who come here and work and learn Swedish as they work.
How difficult was the process of getting into the country? Did you have to get a work permit? I'm in the US and my bf moved there a month ago. I am working on saving up some money and applying for a residence permit to go live with him. I'm just worried it's going to be hard to move there paperwork-wise.
No it is not particularly hard to move to Sweden; just fill out the paperwork (which is reasonable), provide the information they ask for and pay their administration fees (which are also reasonable) and in 6 months you'll in all likelihood be granted a visa.
I'm back in Australia at the moment, I spent a year in Sweden and it was awesome!
You're from the UK yes? It will be a simple thing for you to move to Sweden and leave again if it doesn't work out for you... I say, Do it ASAP, you only live once!
Is Sweden ready for the Australian Wildman? Steve, if you have no experience driving in the snow... Watch out! You'll get used to it, but hopefully you don't have a few fender-benders while going through the learning process! Cheers, mate!
You should lose any sleep over MissCatWoman's "religion". She is definitely an atheist, she probalby just thinks it sounds cooler being a wickan/pegan..
Deciding on a Country would be hard to do. I wish you both the best. You make a wonderful couple. I'll bet Sweden is very beautiful too. As I told her, it doesn't matter to me what either of you believe, or disbelieve... I want to know you for who you are as people. Have a wonderful time in Sweden.
We will look forward to an eventually update gushing about all the joys of Sweden and of course, the Joys of finally being solidly in the arms of your love.
Good luck with the move! And don't worry about the paganism either, I've been married happily to a Roman Catholic myself and it works. As long as you're both willing to work on it. :-)
@AdmiralPeacock I can say that everyone going to school in Sweden, should know English quite well :) its a class from third or forth grade up till ninth. What did you do in Sweden btw? just curious. Hope you had a great time here. X from Sthlm

how are they letting you immigrate without knowing swedish?

Knowing Swedish isn't a requirements... technically all Swedes are supposed to know English (doesn't always work that way though)

As a swede I find this question a bit amusing.
I had no idea this was a requirement in other countries.
If you have a genuine gf/bf living in sweden there should be no problem moving here, whatever you income/whatever.
Aaanyway, AdmiralPeacock. I'm subscribing to your channel and I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on the swedish society.
Sure it's cold as hell, but atleast we are the most atheistic nation in the world. That has to count for something, right? ;)

"..but atleast we are the most atheistic nation in the world.."
Uhm, actually Estonia and the Czêch Republic rate higher.
But anyhow: Jag älskar Svergie! :-D
