man these white lines dont show up on me to smooth & highlight it shows up on wirefire mood how can i change it to show on smooth and highilits mood plss tell me!
THe main reason is Box Modeling would be perfect for what I have in mind. The problem is, how do I make them into completely separate, unmerged pieces (Head, Upper Torso, Lower Torso and legs, shoulders, arns, boots. In this fashion?)
Question: How do you subdivide up the polygons in to more verts in 3DSMAX? It would be very helpful, Cause I have a character I want to model who has a very simple design. He has an almost Iconospheric torso design and a lot of sharp, triangular points.

I have a question. I create a plane in 3ds Max with a image. But the image's resolution is less than the rendering frame. How do I let the resolution of the image in the viewport equals to the original image or the rendering frame?
Quick comment- you don't have to switch viewports to extrude- all you have to do is select the single face by using select crossing as opposed to select window and then extruding the face. It takes a bit of practice, but it's not that hard.
Problem. i downloaded a free 3d human model from internet, and i wanted to make an animation, but i cant rig it! when i click the object, Its just says "Dummy" on the modifyer! Help!
first of all, thanks for doing these vids. Very helpful.
Now isnt there some easier way to use those blueprints than assigning them as a texture to two planes? Ive only been looking at pictures through redering>view image file. Very difficult and not as precise. Also, it would be great if you did a tutorial on basic navigation in max. Not many people do those, and im having trouble with it. All I can use is the stupid wheel thing.. and its very frustrating.

Just a continuation to my previous comment, the actual content in the tutorial was really helpful, so don't take my comment badly, maybe thats just your normal voice.
@liamsp544 thanks for the comment although it is my normal voice. Sometimes i am very tired doing these, this was prob one of those days. Hope it helped tho :)
@iwkya1 Yeah I kind of thought so after thinking for a bit. Sorry if my first comment sounded judgmental, and when I thought for a bit then came back and completely watched it, it turns out to be a great tutorial. Thanks!
when im mirroring the mirrored part of the body keeps on moving in regular intervals so i cant match it correctly ;/ how can i make the cursor move freely when mirroring?
@kingdragon702 perspective view should be their already. if not, go to the options of one of the viewports, and click "perspective". Click and Hold down your middle mouse button, then drag. That should orbit perspective view
@kingdragon702 You have to click Editable Poly, then go into "Modify". Then, scroll down to extrude. Click it, then click on the polygons fac and pull back, To add more Polygons, just chang the number of segments. :) Pm me if it doesnt work.
And also, what 3D view? You mean the Perspective view...?
thanks a bunch dude! was both educating and you little "f**k" outbursts and stuff like that made it VERY fun to watch aswell :) great job keep doing those maybe add some tuts about different kinds of modeling textures etc would be awsome
Any more basic tutorial about this? I don't really know how i would get your setup you've in start (with the 2 pictures that you line up your cubes for modeling).
If i make a character from the side and front of it, i save them as JPG? (and what size btw?), but then how i import them to 3D max?
I tried import them normally, but it just showed up like pixels (i'd it on PNG file).
Do i've to add a plane and material with the texture or what?
Make sure the box has edit poly, and you have the select face selected, then select the face you want to extrude, and click extrude, click on the face and pull.
Btw, i still got problems setting up the templates like that. Im still a newbie in this XD but when i make a plan and apply the template as the background im not able to make a line infront of the template it is drawing behind it ^^ are you able to tell me what im doing wrong or mabe make a small tutorial of how to set up template like you do :) thx in advange

When you got your 3d max open, and it shows 4 different views. (top, left, front, and perspective),
right click on one of the names. (top left corner of each view), and select configure. :)
Then choose the layout with just two views, and set them as you wish!
