  • At :52 OLD MAN IS NOT IMPRESSED

  • Awesome, however if she doesn't watch her weight she's going to have a much more pressing problem :P

Visual technology is speeding ahead and detailed colour vision should be attainable this century :)

  • We are the Borg. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Your technological and biological distinctiveness will be added to our own.

  • Unfortunately it's useless for people with optic nerve injury or brain injury in the area responsioble to process view.

  • unfortunately, this only works for people who have sometimes seen, because their brains have learned to use eye nerves: learned to see.

  • The miracles of science, we should be proud and thankful for them.

  • eheh .. sister of Anastacia :D

Well as i heared it the first time, i couldnt believe it! Because i ever thought that would be unpossible!.. But now, everyone can see that it works ;)

  • thats pretty cool. the giant battery pack on the waist is gonna be a bastard to carry after awhile i bet

  • anda pal carajo no estaba lejos de la realidad

  • It would be so rewarding to develop this type of technology and make people so happy, well done to all you doctors and engineers out there!

  • shes borg

  • bionics and prostetics all are awesome

the real problem is getting the body to like being partly fake so to speak....its a picky organism

  • Robo-chick?

  • In some decades the "bionic eyes" will get much bether. Certainly in future the artificial eyes will be implanted in the ocular area, moving as real eyes, and the view wil have many effects as zoon, infra red, ultra violet sellection. In resume, super view.

  • I am really happy for her, but why is only one clinic in Portugal doing this work? surely governments should be pouring billions into this instead wasting it on useless projects. I am sure 1 billion dollars would go a long way to funding this technology.

  • I am sure there must be others around the world involved in this. It does look a bit primitive, as the camera looks like a webcam etc, but it proves the principle, and that's the important thing. I wonder what the MK2 version will be like?

  • and its all due to religion. oops, i mean science

  • And science took her sight in the first place via the automobile. Btw science and religion are not mutual exclusive you dolt!

  • automobile dependency is not the result of reason, but of mindlessness. you could say automobile dependency is like a religion in that it doesnt make any sense.

  • No, it's the result of wanting to get from A to B, and religion is the result of wanting existence to have a point to it, and society to have a moral framework. What have you got to replace it? literally...nothing. And judging by your favorites you merely view this woman's ill luck as a freak show, and a chance to make an inept and pointless point...badly.

  • automobile dependency and religion are both the result of not thinking critically, "unreason." i suggest you read the book "americas undeclared war" by Daniel Azare and/or "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan.

what have i got to replace religion? humanism, reason, love, compassion, etc etc

  • And how is believing in God incompatible with love and compassion??? And btw don't just write "etc, etc" if you can't think of any other emotional charged buzz words to make you look good. And lastly, don't use the word "Humanism" unless you know what it means, and "Humanism" is not incompatible with belief in God.

  • Right on numpty1972! Well said on both counts. Note to any politicians reading, this medical development is the sort of thing we want our tax dollars spent on.

  • with which god? how many gods? whose gods? is it right to spread stupid ideas like magic gods around? theres never been a good argument for the existence of any god or all gods.

  • I am not sectarian, people can believe in whatever version of the divine they want. And obviously you have never heard of the cosmological constant have you? If great scientists like Newton can believe in God, I don't why others cannot, and be left alone from the likes of you. Your initial snide, and inept comment was completely off topic regards this video. I sugest you post somewhere else on topic this time.

  • my original snide inept comment is this: science offers this lady the ability to see again. not religion. this lady can see not because she prayed to zues or worshipped the dragon king of the east or made offerings to whatever deity youre pushing, but because of science.

  • Your original comment was completely off topic, and so have all your others since. No one is suggesting praying would have cured her sight apart from you, and your own blinkered view of other people's religion and spirituality. Now I suggest you waste your time somewhere else instead of wasting other people's here by posting off topic all the time.

  • i just laugh and try not to think about it

  • You were certainly "Not thinking about it" when you started posting here completely off topic. Stop wasting everyone's time, including your own by posting here again.

  • such a nice woman and such an amazing thing for her...

  • wow, that's amazing.
