Nice grill would it fit my 89? [Same body so I'm guessing yes]. You said you had swampers on it at some point what size are they because I heard that the motor is a bit gutless with big tires on them.. [Guessing it's a 2L-T]. Or if it's a 2.4 how well does that go?
How did you weld your diff. Did you just weld the gears together or did you also weld the gears to the carrier. Cause I've heard both, is welding to the carrier just stronger?
its official im doing this to my truck fuck open diff that shit has got me stuck more times then anything. my truck is a 69 gmc stepside with toyo m/t's. and the open diff kills my off road trips constantly.
@OriginalSamsquatch it didnt hurt it really bad. I didnt notice it was weld unless I was making tight turns in a parking lot. then the inside tire would chirp. If your front tires are on loose gravel and your rear is on asphalt then good luck making a turn. I still say do it.
@lesliesmanjeff I would recommend it. The only time you'll notice its welded is in parking lots. Tight turns will cause the tires to chrip but its not bad. Good luck
@serbinator1 no, fourwheel drive is only engaged when the selector is in poistion. all he did was weld the spider gears in his diff (i'm guessing rear) so that there is no individual wheel spin. the wheels always turn at the same speed now, regardless of what surface hes on.
do you think i should weld up both diffs or just the rear, iam worried that if i weld up both diffs that i wont have much of a turning radius, please tell me iam wrong
have any idea how much would it cost to swap a solid front axle on a 4runner like yours? i´m thinking on getting one, i know a guy who has a 1985 4runner but he doesn´t wanna sell it to me, at least not at a reasonable price.
good off road but no good on pavement!

how bad did that kill your turning radius? I'm welding up a 9" and a D44 on my F100 and don't want to lose driveability

@Bonkder32 so that mean 4wd will now always be engaged?? in a surf the push button 4wd so the button will then be useless??

i would plan on it costing at least 2500 usd, not including differentials
if you can do your own cutting/grinding/welding and possibly some basic fabrication you could do it for much cheaper.

around 500 bucks
