Because AC Milan and European football (soccer) in general is at a far higher standard of play than of the MLS due to the fact the MLS is a young league. Beckham thought his career was over and went to america. He is suddenly offered a place in one of the biggest clubs in europe. He's gonna say yes.

I've got a question for the american people here. I am from England and a huge football fan (soccer to you guys). What is your opinion of Beckham now he has decided he wants to stay at AC Milan. Because AC Milan and European football (soccer) in general is at a far higher standard of play than of the MLS due to the fact the MLS is a young league. Beckham thought his career was over and went to america. He is suddenly offered a place in one of the biggest clubs in europe. He's gonna say yes.

makes perfect sense. i applaud his effort and desire to increase footballs standing in the US (I have lived in Germany for a few years so I call it football and am one of the few Americans that loves football more than anything), but my compatriots will never feel the way I do. he can still play at a high level and wants to represent his country in south africa next year. i do hope he comes back to the US eventually and helps to create more of a footballing desire here.

Naturally who is going to turn down an opportunity of this magnitude? I agree with the fact tha the MLS is not as good as European Soccer because it is young, but I believe that it is exactly players like Beckham that the MLS needs to make it better in terms of actual skill.

I think that it was cool that he played here for awhile but if you got offered a spot on AC Milan or a spot on LA Galaxy... honestly you would have to be crazy to pick an MLS team over any European team ( Well almost any :P) So it was fun while it lasted lol

I don't really care if he stays in Europe because I personally don't think he cares about the MLS. Landon Donovan and his teammates don't just say crap about players for no reason, and beckhams poor playing in LA supports Donovan's argument. Besides, who doesn't want to play in italy?

Hey man im from Canada and the town 30 minutes away is the only Canadan team in the Americian league(Toronto FC) but all of my family is from England were very big soccer fans Well Burnley fans! I think Becham should just go to Europe becasue its totaly different in USA and Canada then Euope thats why im going to get scouted in England in sted of Canada

Beckham said he was going to stay here for a while. We understand that La liga, english premiere, and the italian league are much more competitive. It is his choice, but we kinda feel that he just came here and now he's leaving. He was supposed to make a much bigger impact on the game of soccer in the US than he actually did.

I am from Pennsylvania, USA, and I played soccer for 15 years and ALWAYS idolized Beckham ever since I was 5. I got a chance to see him play when LA played NY Red Bulls. I was estatic to hear that he wascoming to America, but I could have predicted that he wasn't gonna stay for long. I know that he will do whatever makes him happy. He just wants to play and I understand fully why he wants to move. Good for him. He will always be my favorite no matter who he's playing for.

I've been a fan of Beckham since I was around the same age as you were...except I saw far more of him than you did because I am from England.
