Hi Jurgen firstly a lovely performance o f this study and secondly it is great that you are interested in Gilbert's work he is hugely under rated as acomposer and his work is easily comparable to any other contemporary guitar composers, also check out his 4 waltzs. I unfortunately lack the ability to do justice to his music but it sounds like you could. He also a lovely man and don't hesitate to contact him if you wish to find out more. I look forward to hearing your renditions of his work!
Amazing!! great work!! im trying to play this etude but i don't really know how many times should i repeat each cell!! both section a&b? i also don't understand what do the signs VVVV after each cell mean? would you please help me with that?
I agree, Brouwer is great! But the preludes from Gilbert Biberian are also marvelous. This week I bought a CD from Denian Arcoleo, who plays them brilliantly. Since I have played a lot of stuff by Brouwer I will now concentrate on Biberian
Thank you so much for listening. This is the secret of Leo Brouwer: he writes music which often is born from fingerings, but always sounds inspired. I do not know many composers, who can do that
This study is fantastic like all of Leo Brouwer studies. A bit faster would indeed give it its maximum effect. Anyhow, this is a hard one. Congratulations!
Brouwer is one of my favourite composers-perhaps he and Carlevaro are the greatest guitarists-composers of the 20th century in the tradition of Sor, Tarrega and Barrios. His music is distinctive and beside all technical patterns always full of expression. And also his easy pieces have their distinctive language.
I play n° 6 and 7, and i almost can play 20... Brouwer is a very good composer

Pay no attention to that guy. You are truly amazing, Brouwer makes some of the greatest songs to play on guitar.

Can't say I've heard of Gilbet Biberian. I'll have to check that out. Is he also a somewhat modernist composer?

Yes he is. He lives in th UK, as far as I now. Check out Denians channel

Hi BJC, it was published in th eighties. But there is a new volume published by Max Eschig in 2006. Many misprints are corrected - and some are new

Kind of like an "exercise" song, but isn't an "estudio" a "study" anyway? I listened to it 5 times for the number of stars (5) I gave it. Sehr Bravo.

Sounds great. I did not know this piece, although I thought I had listened to all of Brouwer's studies. Must have been an unimpressive performance.

Thank you very much my friend. I also wonder why it is so rarely played, imo it's one of the most beautiful studies from Brouwer
