So put Medicare reform on the table, Mr. President. The power isn't in the Debt Limit Threat, the power is having a Read My Lips No Medicare Cuts in your pocket and you either bring it out of your pocket and tear it up in a public fashion right now, or the dollar will drop like a rock on August 2nd.
the repubs spent 8 years ronning up the debt intentionally to get us to this point and was able to do so because we hade a pino (president in name only) who had no clue what was going on. now they want to hold the countries financial well being hostage to get what they want.its not only immoral its against their oath of office.
Why are the Democrats (Harry Reid) just tabling the House bill. What arrogance! They put a lot of thought into the bill, it deserves an up or down vote in the Senate. Or are you afraid it will actually pass? The crisis is on your shoulders. Stop your whining.
@Caleb6543 Do you have Alzheimer's disease or have you suffered a blow to the head recently, causing you amnesia? The Republicans have tied the debt ceiling to a spending bill. The Republicans are for the third time holding America hostage. The Republicans are not compromising by running away from the talks. The Dem's are ready, willing and able to cosign a bill to raise the debt ceiling, on a stand alone bill. America will put the blame squarely on Bohnor, McConnel and the Republicans
@glazierEd That is why they call it a "debt ceiling." If debt increases are automatic, why do we bother. The ceiling is supposed to trigger a reduction in spending. We finally have some people in Washington willing to hold the line on the budget. (If we had a budget)
@Caleb6543 Everyone agrees we must cut spending, Not everyone agrees we must raise the debt ceiling. My point was that, If the Ceiling isn't raised, then the republicans take the heat since they are the ones who tied the two subjects together, and they have made it Christal clear that "Unless they get exactly everything they want, then they wont vote for an increase. Maybe you mis spoke?
Your Quote "The crisis is on your shoulders" referring to Democrats and (Harry Reid)
You answered my question based on your own assumption.
This was my question, based on richest paid 91% 1933-1963, yet economy was the best ever. The spending was enormous on public projects(google, New Deal, scroll down to New Deal Programs), on top WWII cost.
"Why not raise the tax to the riches like before?"
@glazierEd If the two were not tied together, no cuts would be made. The Democrats haven't even come up with a budget. How irresponsible. Democrats and RINO Republicans will only pay lip service to spending cuts. The debt is too high, we have to cut spending now, and this is the only lever we have to get it done. Compromise is possible if the shared goal is to make some real cuts. But the Senate has done nothing but whine and moan.
Why don't you come up with some ideas and then see if you can find a compromise approach? I don't see any ideas coming out of the Senate; just a bunch of moaning about the House plan. How about a little leadership here.

@glazierEd "Everyone agrees we must cut spending,.."
No really, except military budget. You are taking the advertisement from corporates and riches putting into your own mouth.
Why not raise the tax to the riches like defore?
Is there any thing wrong with it?
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 Because if you taxed the rich at 100%, and cut military spending 100%, you would not balance the budget.

@mrfrednoname "Because if you taxed the rich at 100%, and cut military spending 100%, you would not balance the budget.."

@allgoo19 1933-1963 was the best ever??? Are you kidding????? The new deal did nothing to stop the depression.

@mrfrednoname "1933-1963 was the bes.."
Have I talked to yo before?
Why everybody says the same thing as if they have only one info. source?
1933 was the beginning of the recovery, then on only got better till end of 1960s.
If you don't agree, which part of the history was the best in economy?
allgoo19 6 months ago
@allgoo19 Everyones says the same thing because the numbers don't lie. The new deal was a huge disaster.

@glazierEd Rasie the debt celling with no cuts? That means that the same thing will happen in a few months. Thats really short sighted.
