  • some parts remind me of "to rid the disease" and a little bit of "stairway to heaven"... cool stuff

  • Mikael should sing in Swedish more often (:

    (even though I don't understand Swedish ^^')

  • Love the Jimmy Page Stairway riff at 5:10

  • In this particular piece, I can actually hear the money being given to the band for making this piece of shit. I'm not a troll, I just know the band died when De Farfalla left.

  • this looks VERY similar to "To Rid The Desease"

  • @beralder9 i agree with ya the chorus reminds me of that song too :)

  • Awesome, beautiful album!!! And guys, keep Your stupid political comments off the good music. You sound stupid as hell.Listen to the album and good music , may be that would clear Your minds a bit !!!!

  • im just annoyed that the guy associated this rad song with the new album which is completely terrible

  • Comment removed

  • From 5:36 - 6:15 the drummer in me just went, "LOLWUT."

  • kick all the fucking dirty muslim immigrants out of sweden! They are slowly destroying a beautiful country. Opeth is the fucking shit!

  • @123zelot Go die you fucking scum.

  • not the best song of the album, this one just feels very experimental and unsure of where it's going, which is a real departure from the normally very structured nature of opeth

  • Wow they really mellowed out, sounds great. You can't say this sucks, i give them alot credit for doing different things.

  • oh man.. freaking love Opeth.. Forever.

  • The chorus sounds EXACTLY like the chorus for To Rid the Disease

  • @MetallicaRulez77 well, duh, Mike said he used it in To Rid The Disease a million times before.

  • Never heard Michael sing in Swedish before.

  • Uh, did anyone else notice the "stairway to heaven" solo being played at 5:10 in the song??? cuz i sure did!

  • Comment removed

  • fyfan va dåligt...

  • @NWG92 Oops, my mistake. Thanks for quick response.

  • This sounds so bad ass through head phones. Holy fucking shit.

  • Akerfeldt's got some awesome bands as inspirations....such as Camel and Sorskogen. I truely hope he has what it takes to match the talent of these guys when it comes to creating 70's prog of whatever his creative mind thinks of!

  • Holy balls this is terrible...

  • Estaria muy bueno que este tema este en el nuevo cd de opeth..

  • wtf this is dan swano and mikael's side project tht made one song isnt it??????????

  • @AtmosphereV44 yeap

  • Vid 2:43 kommer refrängen till To Rid The Disease.

  • NIVEL

    LEVEL

    XUXA DE SUS MADRES

  • Man I remember hearing this song my sophomore year of high school, I'm 21, now. Chorus is just like To Rid The Disease!

  • the uploader finally listened to me and changed the sond title, thank fuck for that!!!

  • this is too perky for opeth...

  • To rid the disease.

  • @jevlahorjevlar What the bloody hell are you talking about?

  • @NWG92 He's talking about the lyrics (well sort of). Mordet i Grottan means Murder in the Cave and the lyrics are about kids finding a dead body in a cave. There's a link to the translation on Sörskogen's Wikipedia page.

  • @jevlahorjevlar

And what are you supposed to be? A righteous Satanist or Wiccan who's as white as a China Mug, dwelling in the humid depths of your mother's basement, who thinks he's here to save the world?

If you're so disappointed with Stockholm, take a look at the rest of the world, you might as well slit your wrists and cry & bleed to death instead of whining? The world will always have unrest - deal with it.

  • @jevlahorjevlar Man Sweden would be one to the better places to live at this point in time,it's are a neutral country and if your import and export on goods were to be cut off Sweden could be a self sufficient country.Things could be alot worse. If I were you id sit back listen to the great metal that comes from your country and take in the awesome landscapes your lucky enough to be surrounded in.

  • @mk2vrjet lets not forget the women, good lord the women..

  • @jevlahorjevlar stfu, racist bastard.

  • @jevlahorjevlar I don't even think you're a troll...

  • @jevlahorjevlar The fuck ?

  • i live in sweden. i attended plumbing school in huddinge close to sörskogen in 1988-89 and to me this shit sounds like the regular bs of swedish/stockholm and suburbs = organised crime, the watchers, nostradamous, crew, little punks running around doing shit there not suppose to do, parents neglecting there children, loose runts assholes without upbringing runnin the arends of the watchworld/stockholms organised crime in stockholm and every were around the were around the world being murdered

  • @jevlahorjevlar The hell are you talking about!?

  • Sounds like Opeth's "To Rid The Disease" somehow. Like the part that goes "This failure has made the creator..."

  • fepic

  • just to clear things out, this is an old project that Mikael Åkerfeldt and Dan Swanö had in the 90s,Mikael Loved the chorus so much that he asked Dan if he could use it,And Dan said that it was ok. Now we now it as the chorus ofrom the song "To Rid The Disease" from Damnation.

  • @Crazyswedish oh ok i had thought it sounded familiar haha thanks!

  • 2:43 - 3:08 sounds like "To Rid the Disease". Anyone agree?

  • those keyboards remind me of dream theater

  • Minute 2:46 is the chorus of "The rid to disease"

  • wish that Sörskogen had a full length album

  • Opeth = Music

  • To everyone out there. This is NOT Opeth. It's a side project by Mikael Åkerfeldt and Dan Swanö called Sörskogen. This is NOT Opeth. Just simply copy and paste the title in the youtube search bar and I think you can see what I mean.

  • A completley new Opeth we will be hearing this year. I both like it and dont like it. Hope they still know their old self like Black water park and shit

  • when was this song released?? what year?

  • Who is this really cause this is damn good

  • @TheRoyalFuzzybug It's obviously the new Opeth, just look at the title of the video

  • @NWG92 Or a really old Dan Swano/Akerfelt song.

  • @NWG92 Bahahahaha

  • @NWG92 its not the new Opeth, sorry to tell you :( this song is the only song Sörskogen ( with Mikael Åkerfeldt) ever released, the chorus from this son ended up in To Rid the Disease by opeth :) \m/

  • @7queengdom The uploader obviously knows this, look at the video title.

  • @NWG92 ehhhh no, this its a proyect of dan swano and akerfeldt, but only have 1 song

  • @NWG92 No, I believe this is Sörskogen, like a pet prject with Dan Swanö (producer and singer in Edge Of Sanity) from way back in the day. It is however possible that they included this as some kind of bonus track on the new record, but I dont think so.

  • @NWG92 this is Sorksagens "mordet i grottan"... they used some riffs that were in damnation.. its mikael akerdfelt and David swaino

  • @TheRoyalFuzzybug The band is Sörskogen. It's not Opeth. Although it is Mikael Åkerfeldt on vocals.

  • @TheRoyalFuzzybug This is a side project of mikaels from years ago. Google the name, please dont think this is new or anything. The chorus is even from damnation lol. Its a fucking great song though isnt it?

  • @TheRoyalFuzzybug It's a song Mikael Åkerfeldt did with Dan Swanö a long time ago.

  • actually you fuckers I would honestly prefer a new Opeth album to sound like the first 7 albums by King Crimson. They have done enough death/prog shit and I welcome something different. Eat an alpaca cock if you don't like it you virgins.

  • still a good tune

  • era ora!!!! in svedese bisogna cantare e cha cavolo!!!

    daje opeth, daje!

  • Some great 70's proggy sounds here :)

  • Most of you, atleast judging by the comments, have not been Opeth fans for too long.Your judgement these new recordings obviously show that.I agree Opeth will forever be one of the best metal bands of all time, but this album however is not up to par with older recordings. It is more of a "lets put something together to make some money' sort of album.

  • @mk2vrjet hope you are trolling sir, because there are more fans of the "death" opeth than the "progressive" opeth, and they would only get a minor success on the new album

  • @eSuEoS You people obviously spend too much time on the internet or should I say "interwebs".It's pretty bad when someone can't express their opinion without someone saying they are trolling.Get a life,it's just my opinion, you have yours I have mine, big fucking deal.

  • @mk2vrjet not up to par? wtf are you talking about? it's musically just as genious in every aspect except from deathly growls and a more old school song structure. If you look at any of Akerfeldts influences a lot of them are prog rock from the 60's and 70's. it is YOU who hasnt been the Opeth fan for very long." Lets put something together to make some money?" youre an idiot!!!! lyrically it is just as blasphemous as all their other stuff. that ill advised statement of yours will haunt you, guy

  • @Afghanistam Go fuck yourself bud,its just a comment if your gonna shit yourself over it why even read the comments. Its my opinion you have yours I have mine.I could only be so lucky to hope your name Afghanistam means you have served in the war in Afghanistan and that you will soon be redeployed and your life taken, because judging by your comments you are stupid enough to go defend this fucked up place called America.

  • @mk2vrjet youre just a class act arent ya, buddy? anyways. I had my buddy IN SWEDEN traslate this song via facebook. the song is called "Murder in the Cave" and the chorus: "Who was it that murdered him? Who was it that took his life? No one knows. Not even today." So you can take your invalid remark about them "selling out" and you can bury that bullshit. newsflash: Murder is NOT a subject the mass audience care to listen too. I fucking told you. Still dreary and blasphemous. STILL GREAT OPETH.

  • @Afghanistam This is not even Opeth you stupid fuck, its a side project with Mikael Akerfeldt and Dan Swano. So get your facts straight before you running off a the mouth.Seems all the military taught you was "I am an american and I am right all the time",the same mentality they have when it comes to dealing with the rest of the planet, you imperious fuck.

  • @mk2vrjet God please dont bring nationality and politics into the opeth realm. Its like the only place on youtube where people kinda get along lol. I live in America so I know more than anyone, fuck Americans haha. Lets enjoy what brought us here - opeth!

  • @mk2vrjet me check my facts? dont try and flip this shit back on me when youre the one who said it was opeth in the first place! are you seriously THAT god damn ignorant, or are you just the most retarded amnesiac i've ever had the pleasure of chatting with. literally scroll up 7 comments and there you are saying it is opeth YOU DUMB SHIT-FUCKER! and yes my country is militarily superior than yours. go cry yourself to sleep on your security blanket you dumbass.

  • @Afghanistam I did indeed say that but went and researched the whole thing,so I can go back on what I said if I please, and I too am an american so how can your country be more militarily superior if we are from the same country, you my friend are the ignorant one.No name calling for me,I believe knowing you are part of the brainwashed called the military is insult enough to yourself, tells me you can't make decisions for yourself, you still need someone to tell you what to do,so you joined the army

  • @mk2vrjet no name calling for you? i'm about to own you again and it's so damn easy. "you will soon be redeployed and your life taken", "you stupid fuck", "you imperious fuck". youve been calling me names ever since I called you out when you said Akerfeldt wrote this song to sell out or whatever. talk shit about the military all you want. we join so pussies like u dont have to. and I can still spank you in the face with a 5.56 from 200 meters. so I dont care how much shit u talk about the army

  • @Afghanistam Awesome!Come kill me then and see where that lands you.I could report you for threatening my life,I think if won, when you get so pissed that you say you could take my life I think thats where it ends.

  • @mk2vrjet lol report me to who exactly? fucking with you has been the easiest thing i've ever done with just two index fingers. it's been lovely, but you need to get a life. go report me you dumb fucker. I will report you to the metal gods for speaking ill of Akerfeldt. they'll take your youtube account so you stop tRollin' about opeth selling out. they will smite your dumb ass and clothe you in old navy that is cursed so you can never take them off and u will die a loner with no street cred,

  • @Afghanistam "Metal gods?",your a fucking loser, all that shit about old navy clothes and no street cred all sums up to a boring lame ass comeback.By the way I can think of a few more things that are easier to do with two index fingers, maybe when you use them to finger bang the rest of your military friends.Take your aggression out on the enemy your fighting against.By the way i'm still waiting on that 5.56 round to make its way over.

  • @mk2vrjet 'Your' is the second person possessive adjective, used to describe something as belonging to you. 'You're' is the contraction of "you are". The bottom line; you'RE one of the many uneducated americans who simply cannot use the latter of them properly. Go take an english class you simpleton. and i'm not sending a freaking bullet your way b/c im worried i might hit a REAL metalhead who would NEVER say akerfeldt would write anything just to sell out or make extra money like you said.

  • @Afghanistam Me take an English class,I can point out multiple fuck ups with your sentence structures i.e.,not starting sentences with capital letters, using peoples names with out capital letters.Trust me I am a true metal head through and through,I just chose to express my opinion about a certain part of metal that obviously you are completely obsessed with,i've hit a nerve and all you can do is cry about it.I can almost bet i've listened to metal long before you,so we will leave it at that.

  • @mk2vrjet You are a douche. Thats all really. Just wanted to inform you.

  • @mk2vrjet afgan brother, practice what you preach and quit pretending you are better than those who pretendo to be better than you. "You all laugh at me becuase i am different, i laught at you because you are all the same", THIS IS OPETH, look at the cover of the CD my man

  • @mk2vrjet OMG NATIONAL ARGUMENTS! ur comment is fo fucking orignal, can i have your fucking autograph? you sir will always be remembered and go down in history as the one who made the difference, the one who opened up everyones minds................

  • @mk2vrjet hey hey now not all of us american's are like that sad excuse of a person, and most of them in the military are pretty fucking stupid, to be honest...hell yeah I've heard of this side project its pretty awesome.

  • @Afghanistam Actually it's more often then you think part of the musical preference of the mainstream. Look at Bon Jovi, even he wrote one or more songs about the subject and created great hits with it.

Either way, I still love Opeth, despite this not being it. Every single album, and Mikael Akerfield is a musical genius in so far pretty much every genre he has explored. It's a required taste maybe, but I love it.

  • @ZeBlackCat I cant believe you just name dropped bon jovi...wtf, man.

  • @Afghanistam inorite? Nontheless, Opeth writes here about a murder, Jovi wrote about a hit 'n run of a little girl. Just saying, sorry I know my music.

  • @mk2vrjet You listen to, what? Two songs? And you're already assuming that Opeth wrote this album just to make money? That's what sell-outs do!

  • @BigCanOfBeans Well they did sign to Road Runner,so now they are on a label with Slipknot,Nickelback,Lenny Kravitz,so yeah they sold out.Make sure you have a valid point before you comment next time.

  • @mk2vrjet One dimensional, simpleminded, brat. STU!

  • @nothingdefaced I do believe your the simple minded one considering it would be impossible to be one dimensional. I move in all spatial directions, and believe I have been to a higher spatial dimension through numerous DMT experiences. You my friend are the addle-brained.

  • @mk2vrjet DmT ...nice man ! great insight is so key

  • @mk2vrjet Listen here Maynard, your experimentation with dimethyltryptamine may boggle the minds of the masses, but it doesn't impress me. Leave your pseudo-spiritual, altered stated, McKenna/Pinchbeck/Strassman jargon for appropriate discussions. We're talking music here. If you really feel the need to expand my "one dimensional" comment into a debate about who is more consciously or unconsciously aware of ourselves and our inner and outer surroundings, I'm game...

  • @mk2vrjet ...Now if you've trained yourself to naturally induce a DMT experience through meditation... Then I will be impressed.

  • @nothingdefaced The only natural way ive induced it is through dream state.I must have hit a nerve with my first comment,But I am now done with the responding to all the comments because most are just ignorant, you know nothing about my knowledge of music and I dont care to share it with people who want to carry on a one sided im right your wrong conversation.

  • @mk2vrjet I watched an interview of Opeth about it. They said they signed with Roadrunner because 1; they get more publicity and 2; because all their favourite artists were signed with roadrunner.

  • After listening to the new single Devil's Orchard. This is very believable, the music has the same vibe very nice troll

  • why the keyboardsssssss???? Opeth doesn't need keyboards.. such orrible sounds in a beautiful atmosphere

  • trolling/baiting/gullibility wins are irrelevant, this is a good song and i give no fuck if its from heritage or not. this is really well done and I hope more songs on heritage sound like this because its similar to damnation.

  • Now if THIS is the direction Opeth went with the 70's prog era style of music, COUNT ME IN! What the fuck happened??? Clearly with this song, Mike new damn well what he was doing. In fact, I still think this FAR exceeds the version on damnation.

The new stuff shows no musical direction....at all.

  • Nice! True musicians, whether heavy, or softer and more melodic.....ace either way! I've met Mikael and the rest too, they're really great down to earth blokes. Roll on the new Opeth album, and tour \m/

  • Like the people below my comments, as I was listening I thought it sounded like in my time of need and dream theater put together.

I was singing "this failure is me the creator"

  • New Dream Theater FTW!

  • no se que pensar, es buena música, pero no me a erizado la piel..

  • not bad at all

  • Great music! But the lyrics... C'mon Mike. I think you can do better than that. Much better.

  • Great song. Wow.

  • Like "In my time of need"!!!

  • @Detronio Because in my time of need was pretty much a remake of this.

  • @Detronio Actually, I meant to say it's To Rid the Disease NOT In my time of need

  • Opeth trolls rule

  • Like many others have pointed out this is not Opeth, and hey it says so in the title to.

Its Mikael Åkerfeldt's and Dan Swanö's old project.

But listen to the chorus, at aprox 2:43 and then the chorus from "To rid a disease" :D

  • FOR FUCKS SAKE THIS IS AN OLD SONG

    (not from the new album)

  • Only a true Opeth fan, since Orchid, can understand this progresion, a natural move in my opinion; fuckers: there's a lot of brutal bands out there, shut the fuck up. For those whom want see the dark Opeth light, listen this: Salamander, Cressida, Camel, Blue Phantom, King Crimson and the very first of Whitesnake and Deep Purple. And by the way, a legend of Death Metal plays in this song, Dan Swanö, amen.

  • @DoctorSiniestro666 dan swano is kind of a fag in The Wacken Carnage dvd

  • I wonder how many of these fakes are purposely done or people that heard something and thought 'huzzah new album!'

Kudos though, Ive never heard this and it is beautiful!

  • it obviously ssays this is not opeth in the title of the video

  • I fucking love you, uploader. Sorskogen deserves so much more recognition than it's had so far.

  • Comment removed

  • shhhh listen and RELAX!!! opeth is wonderfull

  • Lol this isn't opeth

  • @Georgeriffraff Well it is Åkerfeldt

  • from the band Sörskogen : ] really nice !

  • Damn lol, i fell for it, good job xD

  • Suena prácticamente igual que el tema "Profecías" del álbum "La Biblia" que sacó la banda Argentina "Vox Dei" en 1969.

  • @oszvmq

  • I think anything by Opeth is fantastic. I like this.

  • Sounds like To Rid The Disease :D sounds pretty awesome !

  • @NorwegianAndroid I'm assuming you're being sarcastic here...

  • Comment removed

  • @x0AuG0x The part from 02.43 to 03.08 ;)

  • By the power of the 1970's! It's plaid shirt time!

  • so funny all the comments like "u fail at opeth fan" and "opeth newbie".

    pathetic guys

  • Fortfarande cool :)

  • awsome song

  • anyone got a translation?

  • this is: "Sörskogen - Mordet i Grottan"

  • test

  • Sorry it sounds like to rid the disease

  • @dahakita Mikael actually took the chorus from this song, and put it in To Rid The Disease :) I don't remember where i read it though...

  • min2:30 its sounds like Ending Credits

  • definately Mikael

  • This song is fucking amazing!

  • Quite nice song. But he really shouldn't sing in swedish (sais the swede).

  • for all the guys who say this is not mikael

    GO BRUSH YOUR EARS

    Opeth noobies!!

Good music, different but still opeth

Dont forget opeth is always making new ways to surprise us

  • asshole, got us all. But anyway, i loved the song, and i hope Heritage sounds like this.

  • @CT69ification If you'd rather purchase an album by a shitty group like Machine Head, music probably isn't your thing bro.

  • @NWG92 lol shitty group! at least rob flynn sings and doesn't imitate lions

  • @NWG92 Hey, MH is a great band in its own right.

  • @DrumBum561 I don't necessarily condone or agree with the content of my last comment. I really only said it to provoke the "RIP Opeth" guy to see what sort of ridiculous comment he would reply with. He never did reply, though.

  • @DrumBum561 haha yeah, but next to opeth.....smh

  • @MelloMorello SMH?

  • @NWG92 i know you didnt mean it, but machine head isnt shit
