The next best thing for flight simulators is voice control.
It can be tough to adjust speed, altitude and heading in virtual cockpit.
That's why i use something called "Multi Crew Experience". I can just bark voice commands, and the virtual co-pilot executes for me. I can even talk to native ATC or Radar Contact ATC.
Incidentally, there is a downloadable free demo. You'll have to find it on your own though :-))

What is the point of this, the screen is in front of you, you can't look behind you etc without straining your eyes or neck w/e, it would be better if you had a fuckin' screen attached to your face.
@constert111 if you thought about it logically, you would figure out that its not 1 to 1 ratio, and that instead of using buttons to move when your in a cockpit or car, you can just simply tilt your head a bit and look into the turn like you would if you were really driving/flying
Almost any camera. Some have the IR filter too well soldered or hidden and you cant get rid of it or they have bad software drivers and can get them to absolute minimum settings that works best with freetrack.
Soon different technologies will mature and we will not need the IR LEDs anymore.
and also when i look back left/rightin il-2, the freetrack kinda freezes there like deadzone..so i move my head back to forward view, and the the tracking goes really fast....anybody had same problem?
Yes,happens 2 me too.Just there are some things to consider: the cap location is not the same as the eyes one.When u twist/lean ur head, the leds are not frontally pointing the cam (that means=weaker beam=freeze/dead zone). & a cap is very unstable; it moves. It would be better to mount it on a glasses frame, but the measures don't make it very possible... Also Z axis, roll, yaw seems to depend on the game. I find it a cool thing but not very helpful yet.
i made 3LED cap model and it works perfect in the SKULL DEMONSTRATION WINDOW, but when i go to play il-2, only ZYX axis work(looking around). i cannot slide my head to the left or right or zoom in by moving my head closer to the webcam..ive entered the model dimensions but model position to default coz i dont understand it
i wonder where do you go to get mods like that, like when i crash it just says crash my plane does not slide, yours did how do you do that if you dont mind me asking, thanks!
Well... For sale there is TrackIR that works very well with LEDs or Reflective surfaces... IMHO selling them would defeat the whole ideea of Free-Track ;)

i use my camcorder as webcam in freetrack! it is far more better than webcam...

but you still have to look at the screen... what you should develop is some kind of 180 degree or 360 degree screen to acomidate this

@constert111
It's a feature of human mind to adapt to such apparent nonsense ;) .
You turn your head just a bit and the head in the game turns 180°. At first it's odd... after a few times becomes natural no strains whatsoever.
Having a head mounted 3D display would be cool but... not available.

@zaelu
In racing games it's almost impossible to that in a turn
I mean without losing efficiency

@constert111 In the matter of fact, you can look behind you. All you need to do is to adjust the sensitivity in the Freetrack software

Be nice if you could just buy these things,
IV a idea zaela You should make head tracers And sell them on EBay For people who don't have the time or the patience .

It's a "do it yourself" device after all.

Saw the tracker on the freetrack forums, you're talented, I loved your design, I think I'll make one like this too, if you don't mind. :)

In the mean time I switched the 9v battery for a 4xAAA accumulator holder as it is more efficient.
zaelu 4 years ago
Is it possible to make them work with only 1 AAA battery?
Won't it be more efficient, or the battery just wont last long?
By the way, can I use the LEDs from remote controls, if so, how can I find out what ampere number they are made for?
Thanks a lot in advance.
