@jlol3869 Dude, the US developed thrust vectoring. We had eight aircraft with T/V before the Su-37 even flew, the first in 1972. The Russians didn't use it until 1997. And the reason why don't use thrust vectoring was shown while doing mock combat against Su-30MKIs in 2008. F-15's loaded with wing tanks and ECM pods were achieving gun kills on "clean" Su-30s while they were doing their cobra maneuvers. Don't believe me, youtube "red flad 2008 debrief". That will explain it all to you.

The SU-35 or SU-27M has canards also. Only the new SU-35BM(Big Modernisation) doesn't have canards. The Sukhoi in the video is SU-35 (T-10M-3) with tailnumber 703 and was the third prototype of the SU-35 and the first to be used for production but that was after Farborough 1994. I was there myself. Su-35-703 flew for the first time on April 1 1992. SU-35 is also called Super Flanker.
Oh BTW, there is much talk in American design houses (pahntom works and Skunk Works) of of 6th gen fighters being "looked into"

It's flown agaisnt aircraft from many nations, none have been able to track it. Also you cannot deny the physics of RCS reduction that is a well known principle that even Russia fully acknowladges, eg RAM, RAS and overall aircraft shaping. If you don't understand the physics behind it thats fine, but remember many people, including the Russians do hence the PAK-FA which will rely on RAM, RAS and general airframe shaping.and not fairly tail oxymorons like Plasma stealth!

The Raptors fantastic turn rates are there partly as a by-product of its very high alt (65k) requirement, huge control surfaces and TVC, nothing to do with trying to mimic then unheard in 1980's) of Su-37's

The cost of 4 Su-35 are the cost of 1 F-22 raptor. You also need more 10x more money to maintain the raptor. It's the best? No. It's key parameter was to dominate the air. It can't do it. Su-35 and Mig-35 can counter it at any way. It's stealth is irrelevent to any modern radar. It has a very small payload and very high chance of electronic failure. So generally its expensive , hard and complex to operate and maintain and doesn't meet it's key parameters.

Stealth does help to come a little closer to opponent but its not decisive. There are many ways to detect it with existing AEWaC planes.
F-35 is a bidder for a tender. It was selected among others. Also every country would like to know all capabilities of its possible opponent. Its natural. China hacked it cos it wants to know what exactly its up against. B-2 is stealthier then F-35 and it can be tracked.
@xnizarx Su-27 in my humble opinion is the most aerodynamically-perfected aircraft in the world once equipped with canards. I'd love to see a version of F-22 without thrust vectoring try to have same pitch, roll and turn rates as the flanker. It wouldn't. Its not really a fair comparo though: they are generations apart. I can't wait to see what PAK-FA looks like. I imagine FSW, canards, TVC, slightly flattened and widened nose, a wide area for internal missile carriage.
Anything could beat a b2 in a dogfight... A cruise missile could outmaneuver a b2 probably. I doubt the f-22 could handle a close-in fight with either a su-27 or mig-29. It's designed for long-range, boom and zoom, not for slow fights. F15's and f16's would do better.
You don't know the cost son because prototypes are not a product for sale. The real cost is yet to be revealed! But anyway, it's an indictation of capability that its cost will be cheap, like the aircraft itself,, cheap that is.

That post shows aptly how misinformed you are! The Su-35 Flunker project is far from complete, the loss of the forth airframe the other day has dealt a serious blow to the project. The crashed aircraft was the final prototype/demonstrator. The other three aircraft (one of which is a static tast airframe) are not the full production fitted airframes and are far less mature in terms of avionics fit. You won't see Su-35 being produced for a while. A new full protoypr is now needed for testing!

US design's have only recently implimented the vectoring exhaust nozzles. it does'nt mean there no good. i just think russian planes are in a class by them selfs

@jlol3869 Dude, the US developed thrust vectoring. We had eight aircraft with T/V before the Su-37 even flew, the first in 1972. The Russians didn't use it until 1997. And the reason why don't use thrust vectoring was shown while doing mock combat against Su-30MKIs in 2008. F-15's loaded with wing tanks and ECM pods were achieving gun kills on "clean" Su-30s while they were doing their cobra maneuvers. Don't believe me, youtube "red flad 2008 debrief". That will explain it all to you.

SU-30 = SU-27UB. UB stands for 2-seater.
SU-30's are build with and without canards. At the end of the video you see a SU-30K on the left. It's without canards and it also flew that day.
I have it on tape. The Su-30MK series and MK2 are build from the SU-30K.
MK series also have a third letter attached for the country it flies for.
Like MKI for India and MKK for China. etc..etc..

The SU-35 or SU-27M has canards also. Only the new SU-35BM(Big Modernisation) doesn't have canards. The Sukhoi in the video is SU-35 (T-10M-3) with tailnumber 703 and was the third prototype of the SU-35 and the first to be used for production but that was after Farborough 1994. I was there myself. Su-35-703 flew for the first time on April 1 1992. SU-35 is also called Super Flanker.

Oh BTW, there is much talk in American design houses (pahntom works and Skunk Works) of of 6th gen fighters being "looked into"
DEWS, Mach 2 supercruisers, stealth in optical (think chameleon) as well as traditional spectrum areas (IR and Radar) built in DIRCM and MASER systems etc etc.
I wouldn't bet it'll be flying before very late and much delayed the PAK-FA even starts serial production!

The raptor has replaced the 117 you do realise and is now the promary high threat SEAD/DEAD aircraft within the USAF and that is official. It has the ability to lob stealthy SDB's with DIME warheads 60km down range, and thats with a folding wing kit on the SDB!

Yea. Planes aren't toys and cannot be compared to the standars you test them. A military object is being measure in so many ways that your brain would explode. USA don't have a problem with money. Especially when they got 183 planes cost 350.000.000 each. The reason is that F-22 sucrifices much that is a must on a military basis. It's a good plane but on the next 10 years it's stealth will be obsolete even on 4++ gen fighters. Don't always believe "lockheed martin" commercials son.

It's flown agaisnt aircraft from many nations, none have been able to track it. Also you cannot deny the physics of RCS reduction that is a well known principle that even Russia fully acknowladges, eg RAM, RAS and overall aircraft shaping. If you don't understand the physics behind it thats fine, but remember many people, including the Russians do hence the PAK-FA which will rely on RAM, RAS and general airframe shaping.and not fairly tail oxymorons like Plasma stealth!

Thats a lie, the F-22 IS the most complex and advanced fighter jet in the world. THats why it is so expensive... To be fair they are improving but still lagging behind 'western' standards of manufacturing. Would I buy any products made in Russia though; no I'd still be very wary of poor quality.
Thier Aircraft maufacturing is the same, refer to the Algerian Mig-29's that Algeria sent back due to disgusting quality a few years back. Alot of what you hear about 'easily mantainable' Russian stuff is complete nonsense too.

Yep the cobra is an airshow stunt but turning inside the arc of the opposition is the key, try turning fast with all that energy (which the SU 37 has more than enough of ) When it displayed at Farnborough in 1996 which I was at everyone including the English & American display pilots were stunned & when offered to a mock dogfight declined Checkout the SU 37 at Wikipedia but look at the external links

You just don't get it, in todays modern A-A environment of HOBS missiles, helmet mounted sights and very advanced wide field of view seeker heads any aircraft that doesn't keep up its energy is dead, straight after the merge someone is going to die, maybe both together as the new tech is making manuevering somewhat irrelevent.
In many respects dogfighting is not about who is the most agile or manueverable anymore but rather what weapon system are you packing. eg HMS/HOBS missile combo.

Also, nobody is trying to copy the Su-37, it's a silly suggestion when the US is clearly pursuing 5th gen fighter like the F-22 and F-35, if they rolled out an F-15 on steroids i'd agree with you (not Silent Eagle thats not on steroids and is Boeing in-house venture not USAF asked for).
The Raptors fantastic turn rates are there partly as a by-product of its very high alt (65k) requirement, huge control surfaces and TVC, nothing to do with trying to mimic then unheard in 1980's) of Su-37's

The Su-37 has the newer, more powerful, NIIP NO-11M pulse-Doppler phased-array nose radar. A rearward-facing missile system and NIIP NO-12 rear-radar will give the pilot the ability to fire at enemy aircraft behind the Su-37, in addition to the front. While the Su-37 is the first Russian aircraft to feature thrust vector control comparable to that of the American F-22, it may not be the last.

No it doesn't have rear facing radar. it was touted to have one, it never did get one in operational service, besides it's just one more thing that emits to give itself away
There are no rear facing missile pylons either.
The Su-37 TV system is nice, but try making it stealthy for the PAK-FA though which it has to be, stealthy that is....

Yes it does-The all-weather digital multi-mode phased array radar operates in either air and ground surveillance modes or in both modes simultaneously. Ground surveillance modes include mapping (with Doppler beam sharpening), search-and-track of moving targets, synthetic aperture radar and terrain avoidance. The Su-37 is also equipped with a rearward facing radar in the tail stinger area of the fuselage.

The cost of 4 Su-35 are the cost of 1 F-22 raptor. You also need more 10x more money to maintain the raptor. It's the best? No. It's key parameter was to dominate the air. It can't do it. Su-35 and Mig-35 can counter it at any way. It's stealth is irrelevent to any modern radar. It has a very small payload and very high chance of electronic failure. So generally its expensive , hard and complex to operate and maintain and doesn't meet it's key parameters.

The forth Su-35 was destoyed in a failed takeff attempt the other day, caught fire, pilot ejected and the aircraft was totally destroyed.
Good ole Russian engineering standards havn't changed!
This has set the Su-35 back by a few years thats for sure.
(luckily the pilot was unharmed)

M8 you talk with no facts what so ever. Maybe that was correct but Su-35 budget is only 1/10 of the raptors budget. You cannot compare the two. My words are translated with facts. USA stopped the Raptor program and I'm pretty sure the have a damn good reason for it after 20 years 50 billions trashed for it. Everything else is completly bullshit.

lol, the US stopped Raptor production because there is no threat to warrent more aircraft and the F-35 so far ahead of anything else in the air today that combined with the F-22 the USAF are without rivals. It really is that simple.
BTW the Su-35 that crashed was the one installed with the PAK-FA engines, the whole thing was completely destroyed so expect the PAK-FA to be pushed back by perhaps 2 years, looks like 2020 IOC for the PAK-FA is very likely.

F-35 is: slow, low range, not stealth enough as radar of Su-30MKI is known to track it. single engine, can't fly very high or manuever due to high wing loading, low ordnance. Its a pure strike plane. Can;t call it fighter. Can't just survive on crazy avionics. low RCS helps a little to reduce detection range but these days combat is controlled by AEWaC that would detect F-35 beyond any missile range. Its far from invincible. and the SA10 missile is known to track and kill AA missiles F-35? Gone.

Stealth does help to come a little closer to opponent but its not decisive. There are many ways to detect it with existing AEWaC planes.
F-35 is a bidder for a tender. It was selected among others. Also every country would like to know all capabilities of its possible opponent. Its natural. China hacked it cos it wants to know what exactly its up against. B-2 is stealthier then F-35 and it can be tracked.

@xnizarx Su-27 in my humble opinion is the most aerodynamically-perfected aircraft in the world once equipped with canards. I'd love to see a version of F-22 without thrust vectoring try to have same pitch, roll and turn rates as the flanker. It wouldn't. Its not really a fair comparo though: they are generations apart. I can't wait to see what PAK-FA looks like. I imagine FSW, canards, TVC, slightly flattened and widened nose, a wide area for internal missile carriage.

Anything could beat a b2 in a dogfight... A cruise missile could outmaneuver a b2 probably. I doubt the f-22 could handle a close-in fight with either a su-27 or mig-29. It's designed for long-range, boom and zoom, not for slow fights. F15's and f16's would do better.

This shows again how misinformed you are . Su-35 is a complete project ready to be sold to anyone will to buy it. However they modified some Su-35 to the BM standar in order to fit and test many of the PAK FA avionics, weapons system, plasma stealth and other. 1 Crashed. So? They have 3 more. You think USA planes don't crush during test? Hell, they even do when they are complete and doing routine flights.. like the F-22 did on march 26.

That post shows aptly how misinformed you are! The Su-35 Flunker project is far from complete, the loss of the forth airframe the other day has dealt a serious blow to the project. The crashed aircraft was the final prototype/demonstrator. The other three aircraft (one of which is a static tast airframe) are not the full production fitted airframes and are far less mature in terms of avionics fit. You won't see Su-35 being produced for a while. A new full protoypr is now needed for testing!

In fact, the original Su 35 didn't have any thrust vectoring. Only the Su 37, which was developed from it, had.
Don't mix it up with the current Su-35 though. The current one posesses all-axis thrust-vectoring, but lacks canards.

They've had better agility that is! American avionics have always been better! A very delicate balance to say the least! The problem that Russia has is the fact that they can't afford to have their pilots fly as much as their American counterparts. And the US has been shooting down Russian made fighters in the recent series of wars lately!...

Talk to any pilot with any combat experience (especially Chuck Yeager), skill matters more than the machine.this is why ww2 pilots in the Sabre dominated the mig during Korea with a kill ratio of 10:1. Due to a removal of dogfighting schools, the kill ratio of the F4 in Vietnam was only 1:1
