Android is open source which is good, but there are thousands of different Android devices with different specs whereas with the iPhone there is only one model so developing an app is waaay easier, plus iOS is the most popular platform so I guess it's the one they're gonna back.

@thehoodatron No it isn't. There are 2 Android deviced sold for every iPhone. There are more Andriod users on FB than iOS and 72% of developers thinki that Android was best positioned to power a large number and variety of connected devices in the future.

E.g. the PC market, which is by far the biggest seller there is, is also the most diverse, with billions of software/hardware combinations and specs out there, yet developers can still release software/games that work on 99% of "modern" PC's (e.g. MS Word). Why? Because you don't need 1 universal device, as long as you code software to allow different PC's the options to run things the way their PC can run things, it's not a problem. Same for Android...

@Testinator1234 it isn't the same unfortunately. android app makers have already complained countless times that they have to code for different sized displays, different skins overlaid on top of androids own software etc. It does make life difficult for developers and thats why there aren't as many high quality applications available to the platform. Which get's annoying for my HTC phone but great for my iPad I guess

@mariocamb13 the question you need to ask yourself seriously is: What can you do on an iphone that you can't do on Android? I have both (well, I have ICS on the awesome Galaxy Nexus, and an iphone 4s which is OK), and the GN does the same things as iOS, but it has better things. E.g. I love free Satnav from Google on Android, and it also has traffic updates incorporated for free! Much better than my TomTom. Also Widgets are AMAZING, so so useful, yet they dont exist on the iphone.

My mum got the Archos 101 tabet by Android and it's good but slow and does not work sometimes. Wheras my Apple Ipad 2 or Iphone never lets me down anyway possible. There may be some ads for Android but overall we ALL know Apple will still be the monopoly in the mobile phone business and always will be.

@dukey308 I can afford an iphone and the flagship Android devices, which are priced pretty close to the flahship iPhones FYI. The current flagship for Android is the Galaxy Nexus. IT has a much bigger/better screen, awesome Sat Nav software for free, much better customization, and maybe most importantly of all, awesome widgets. Widgets make Android 10x better than iOS for me.
