I would have mash the yoke down and broke off the forward landing gear to keep it from being able to take back off. That and cut fuel so they couldn't restart the engines without waiting on the APU to start then the jets to spin up.

And they could not have been airborne again. Two planes crashed on a runway, and they were in each side of the runway. One was taking off and the other was on it's way to the runway. The pilot who was taking off could not take off in time so they crashed......

Planes have nowhere near that much control when on a runway, and you can tell the ambient gunfight between the secret service and the bad guys is so fake, where the bad guys are just walking out into the hallway and shooting from the middle of the hallway (especially the part where the guy gets shot near the little girl). Then, a guy is shot, falls, but is alive again?

@TuneWorld Everything you said was right except about the president. There is also important other people on board AND in the full movie, the president put one of the guards body's in the escape pod and he hid somewhere.

Two things: Air force one is way to large!
And they could not have been airborne again. Two planes crashed on a runway, and they were in each side of the runway. One was taking off and the other was on it's way to the runway. The pilot who was taking off could not take off in time so they crashed......

@beroth1 As you probably know, the president is of the utmost importance, including his house, airplane, etc. The fighter jets are there to escort Air Force One as it's descending to clear the airspace, and to provide cover in case of an air strike.

I love this movie (one of my favorites), and I love this scene, but it's pretty goofy. lol! Planes have nowhere near that much control when on a runway, and you can tell the ambient gunfight between the secret service and the bad guys is so fake, where the bad guys are just walking out into the hallway and shooting from the middle of the hallway (especially the part where the guy gets shot near the little girl). Then, a guy is shot, falls, but is alive again?
Great movie, none the less. :-)
