Will was a horrible actor back then, he has gotten better, he is now a mediocre actor. The way he speaks when he wants to sound intelligent is annoying and forced. And that bit where he says, "like hell it is, this a people shooting hat" that's a quote from the book. I re-read catcher recently and that is in the book verbate, from where he says he closed one eye, the way he says the line he doesn't stop for the quote.
God damn all Smith's character's interpretations are so over the top. I wonder if he really read it.
