  • Excellent work!!!

  • Imagine that in real time for a game!!!!!! ahh the future looks bright!

  • @MadManix crysis 2? Bf3 ?

  • The most reasonable way to implement Minecraft 2 generation code...

  • freakin epic!!!

  • it's beautiful *sobs* :'(

  • This is a first class video!

  • with that resolution, and only shaders, i guess 10-15 min max pr frame.

Add objects, and rendertime will increse dramaticly.

If the details and aa is tuned well, you might get it down to 4-5 min pr frame on a quick pc.

  • very good

  • 4 jahre ja man.... läuft der pc da durch? oder fängst jedes mal neu an? weil dann ist kein wunder dass es 4 jahre braucht

  • obaldetь))

    cool)

    realy cool)

    ваще мощно)

  • Damn I hope graphics cards can render shit like this @ 30 fps anytime in the future...

That shit would be so epic for games :D

  • wow, hamma

  • imagine playing a game on this :D

  • @nintendowiirulz OMG search infinity: quest for earth

  • My work Pc could render this in 2 weeks well I suppose having 8 I7's Six Cores each helps just a little though

  • God created the Earth in less time than it takes TG to render it...

  • @NeroYouKay

    LOL!

  • amazing

  • Oh jesus christ it amazes me how serious people get over such silly things! >.< a full on debate about the damn program, really?? Go make something pretty on your terragen program, and stop bitching at each other about it -___-

  • If God really created the Universe he did it with this very program!!! :D

  • My sister have askin me continously why the sky is blue. I have tryied to explain her it in many ways but she realy understood this after she had seen this video. :)

  • Awesome! ^.^

  • Well, this hasnt been done with Terragen as this was made in 2005. Also, its quite easy to see the difference. Terragen 2 is way way way more powerful. =)

  • yeah but Terragen 2 doesn't have the power of creation for the terrain like terragen. But terragen 2 has more power with its shaders. I just wish it rendered wire frames.

  • @dragnet53

TG2 is designed for photorealism. You don't see real wireframe landscapes or planets, do you? No.

  • I wonder how long this had to render.

  • Probably around 5-6 hours per frame

  • @pegleg1992 what year are you living in? Even a houseold PC could render each frame in just a few minutes; a dedicated workstation could do it much quicker.

  • @LennyRhys You have obviously never used Terragen, please get your facts straight. The typical home computer, based on 2-4gb DDR2 RAM, and an Intel Core 2 Duo E7xxx will probably take a good hour or two per frame. I don't know where I got 5-6 hours from as that is drastically incorrect. However, the rendering will not take simply a few minutes.

  • @pegleg1992 it depends on the resolution/level of data in each frame. There is one particular terragen animation on youtube and the creator cites 80 frames per hour on his office workstation; terragen is also used as a CPU benchmark in numerous reviews and it takes just 6 minutes to render a very highly detailed 640x480 frame using a quad core CPU, which many people have nowadays.

  • @LennyRhys I once found the original video of this, resolution was somewhere near 720p if I remember correctly. The standard home computer uses a dual core, not a quad core. Also, I'm not saying that this particular video was rendered on a home PC, as you mentioned it was most likely rendered on a dedicated workstation or maybe even a renderfarm, in which case the render times would be cut down immensely to between 30 seconds and a minute.

  • @pegleg1992 so true lenny.. it took me almost 17 hours to render a picture at 1377 by 657 . this one didnt even have alot of detail...

  • @Benda1dontcamp

    Lenny or me?

  • the song name is At the villa people - Open Your Eyes (original 96 mix)

But this is Mixed by Paul Oakenfold

    Hope iv'e helped many

  • Holy shit... i played around with this program years ago making Mars landscapes with green suns etc. It was free back then and now it is even more impressive. I gotta take closer a look at it! I'm glad this program evolved and improved. Brings back memories.

  • I got dizzy watching the beggining. Holy cow!

  • SICK!

  • What is the music? Thank you

  • the author is paul oakenfold, now i must found the title

  • @KenshirouLuke finally found the song name after 3 years,

It's At the villa people - Open Your Eyes (original 96 mix)

  • Found it! From 1:25!!!

    Thank you very much!!!

  • For you people with good render times, heres an example of bad. A render of 1600x1200, of mainly clouds, took me 115 hours... ONE FRAME!

  • Might want to check the render settings there, you'll probably find a lot of them are unnecessary.

  • I hope you got cheap electricity... :-)

  • CAN SOMEONE PLS TELL ME HOW TO MAKE GREAT TERRAGEN MOVING CAMERA VIDEOS?

    mail me.

  • you need Terragen 2 with animation. I dont know but I think its VERY EXPENSIVe

  • $400.

  • the sound of gojira in the movie!!!!!

  • The average terragen 2 render at high quality, for a SINGLE FRAME, can take around 5-10 days on a "Gaming Computer" for home use. Of course, most companies use render farms, so.

  • I have Terragen 2, whenever I render a frame at the highest quality I could, it takes 20 minutes. And the picture has perfect quality!

  • I've read several accounts of (Truly photorealistic) T2 Images taking up to a week, but that was several months ago. Maybe they've finally optimized :P

  • Yeah, I've heard that there were some patches, plus the program is being updated constantly, considering Planetside is currently paying all of their attention to Terragen 2's production right now. So, they keep on building upon the beta and release the updated versions for free.

  • I've rendered images at 2048x1536 and it took 27 hours. However, that was before optimizations and such... so... probably a lot better. Besides, I'd never make a video at that resolution anyways. 720p HD would probably only take me about 30-45 minutes a frame, if that.

  • I'm working one a HP Workstation, and renders at 2K take about 6 hours... it depends on the processor (and how many you have of them)

  • a beg to differ. i can render a fairly decent busy scene at 1024x768 with my 3200Athlon XP "single core and 7 years old" in roughly 3-5 hours.

  • whats name of the song

  • If this was animated with stills, it would've taken FOREVER to render the animation.

  • I CANT WAIT

  • What animation plugin did you use? All I can do is still frames.

  • You'll want to purchase the Terragen 2 Deep + Animation package. This will unlock the animation capabilities as well as a free upgrade to the full animation module when it's released. If you're currently using the free version it will also remove all those limitations to your render size and quality.

  • Incredible

  • where i can find this for download??

  • that musta taken like 4 years to render, lol fer me anywayz. takes 6 hours per high quality frame

  • wow, what hardware do you have?

  • pentium 4 proc, nvidia geforce 6600 and had 1 gig o ram at the time, lol, i got a new system though ( smokin fast )

  • Sorry man.

    But are you kidding?

    4 years to render? lololololololololol

  • @clay82es MY first Terragen project I posted here took 2 weeks to render out 700 frames. It's probably the most horrible rendering times of any 3D program I've ever used. The animation isn't matured like other 3D programs.

  • @clay82es Well at least you know someone was paying the utility bill: )

  • @clay82es Space Engine cant this in realtime , and this planets in engine its over 8 billion stars sistem with planet with surface and non repeat

  • Can Somebody Tell Me te Name of That Song ??!!??

  • Actually, the song is Nalin & Kane - Open Your Eyes.. No clue why he writes "Paul Oakenfold" in the credits :)

  • will v2 ever be released?

  • is the final release finished yet?

  • yeah trome de tromes carai

  • does anybody else find this version a pain in teh neck to navigate through, compared to the original ones?

  • Thank you, I was just thinking that

  • This program is just unbelievable! A friend of mine told me about it and i downloaded the unregistered version and within 15minutes i can create an astonishing scenery with this very simple terragenn tool. I don't know when the said "terragen2" will be out, free or not, but i sure as hell would like to know more.

This vid and the one with the f-35 and some LOTR compilations are just marvelous.

  • YEAH REALLY!!! Since when is the world roung?!?! lesssssses!

  • even though terragen is slow, it has created images many times more impressive than anything Ive seen in Vue and its only in its preview stage. I know vue can create awesome animations and has the solid growth plants it just doesnt compare with the realism yet. Ive only seen a couple of vue images that can compare with terragen

  • you do know that it is still in the preview stage...?

  • I think they're chaniging the animation technology so it's not just lots of pictures.

  • This would take so long to make! They would have to make heaps of images for it.

    It's absolutely brilliant though

  • Holy mother of god. It's awesome!

  • Great video. I waited with such anticipation for TG2, and when it was released, i was amazed at how different the user interface was. I thought, ok, i learned tg1, i can learn this. Since the release of TG2 i have not been able to get a single thing to work. I relize others have been successful, so i guess its a matter of skill, but that is little comfort. I feel like i lost a great tool. very sad.

  • Full version of TG2 is not released yet, It's just a Technology preview still...

  • Full version? I thought thats what i have on the computer, the full version. O, so i have a tech preview that is so crippled that i can not preview any feature of this new technology. Picture me shaking my head in disgust right now. "Free", is too expensive a price for that heaping, steaming pile of crap. - Thats my technology preview, review.

  • Terragen 2 Release Schedule

In 2006 the first Terragen 2 Technology Preview was released, giving users hands-on access to the software. Development will continue towards a final release of Terragen 2 for Windows and Mac. <-- Copied from planetsidedotcodotuk, so there's no TG2 yet :) you have some kinda pirate version of it or somethin? :D

  • I downloaded it form the Planetside website. My friend and I waited fro months, counting down to the day the website said we could download. And alas, the day came upon us. We eagerly raced to our computers to install the proggi. Oh the times we had. A month of sweaty, bloody, urine soaked, hard work later, and i said screw it. Let me know if they ever get it to work. Ty

  • I will cause I have used that technology preview for half years and it have worked well with me and I gonna buy that final version as soon as it comes :)

  • Forgive me if i seem skeptical, but cough cough cough, bullshit, cough..

  • Second that. I'm still giving it the benefit of the doubt, though.

  • Ok guys, please do me this favour, if any one manages to produce a reander with TG2 make a vid, and perhaps show us unwashed masses how in the hell you amnaged to get it to work. good luck.

  • amazing...

  • Wow what a cool approach to planet earth ! Must be performed by an alien star ship ! Music & video wonderful

  • i downloaded this video look better in widescreen, even better on a projector

  • The song is "Open Your Eyes" by Nalin & Kane.

  • Terragen is a problem that will allow you to render 3D landscapes with ease.

  • i'm sorry, what's terragen

  • what's the song by oakenfold called?

  • I too would like to know.

  • oakenfold AND t2, you can't lose :D

  • T2 looks awesome

  • ye tg2 im waiting for it ! ! ! can't wait !

  • perfezione!
