@gabbybella123 Lol. Not true. Vegetarians are way healthier. They get less fat and processed foods in their diet (depends on the person, but in general...), they usually have low blood pressure and cholesterol, and are usually a average/healthy weight.
@ToxicMonkies after going through anaemia and anorexia, i know my facts on nutrition :p vegetarians only seem healthier because they have less saturated fat, but thats only because everyone else eats TOO MUCH meat! our body gets EFA's (essential fatty acids) from animal meat that our body cannot make without it, vegetarians bodies miss out on essential proteins. But meat only needs to be eaten once or twice a week!
@emeliUK exactly, as a species we are omnivores - we need plants AND meat to survive. i do biology A-level...we only get ALL our ESSENTIAL proteins through eating a bit of meat.....not a lot, but once a week is healthy,... essential in fact :)
But i fully agree with the moralistic side of being a vegetarian, i think it is a very worthy thing to do :) (it's just not very healthy -- but people who eat too much meat are just as unhealthy lol)
it is sad that we do this to animals! its not like if there is someone who is born with autism or something we dont slaughter them to make some use with them. and we dont lock babies or toldlers up in cages so we can look at them and admire how cute they are!
So in your view we've been playing the role of god on humans for ages already with medical support. It's technological progression nothing you can do about it.
I understand that you have agreed to disagree, but, I must add, that if we stopped "playing the role of God" so to say, we would have a life span of, oh, say, 40.
What separates primates from non-primates is this ability to create, because of higher level of cognitive functioning. What's wrong with bettering lives with our knowledge? If we are so obsessed with eternal life, please, share your concerns with the wrinkle cream and plastic surgery industry, which often perpetuates the
@eggbaax idea that humans should aim to look eternally young. This is especially directed at women, who are often imposed with the stereotype that their worth is indirectly proportional to their age--more so than men.
@fuzzbuttnut I believe our evolution has taken a turn for the worst with the idea you just shared on 'eternal youth'. By dong so, peopl are living to outrageous ages, most of which ending up dying in hospitals with no remaining living relatives & tubes attached to every orifice on their bodies. Natural death has practically been deleted from our options considering how we seem to be constantly on the run from 'the end'.
@fuzzbuttnut I rather live a healthy life until I'm diagnosed with a terminal illness & then spending my remaining days at home with minimal medical attention. The idea of being dosed with large quantities of unknown substances that force my body to live longer than I should, making me suffer greatly in the process (ie. losing hair, fatigue, weight loss, no more bowel control) are unappealing to me.
By keeping everyone alive we're also encouraging over-population.
yay cows are save!!!

Meat is not necessary at all to be healthy.
You can gain all necessary vitamins and nutrients from vegetation.

Depends on the person, I suppose.

@gabbybella123 I must have missed your biology class. I haven't eaten meat in 2 years, and never been this healthy before in my life!

This is sad... it's just another great example of man's obsession with eternal life.
These cows have done there time, let them live the way they should. NOT with prosthetic dentures!
It's ridiculous...

@eggbaax
When you will accept close to NO medical support anymore after you're 65+ I'll accept your arguments. Not gonna happen.
Hej, they're not just doing this for fun, what do you think. It's probably cost effective to keep a cow that way so she can keep giving milk etc.
SinisterSkip 1 year ago
@SinisterSkip Of course there's money involved, there's always money behind such a motive.
I just think this is playing the role of God...

@SinisterSkip I won't go that direction, we're talking about cows right now.
I just think that cows shouldn't be given these ridiculous apparatuses.

@eggbaax
I and apparently many people see it as a positive progression.
So we'll just end the discussion by disagreeing :)
