I do Scottish (I'm 15) and I reaaly enjoy dancing this dance because a)it's a beautiful dance to dance, b)it's a beautiful dance to watch and c)the music is wonderful. Thanks for posting this up: they are all very good. I myself am part of a demonstration team and I enjoy it very much!
Thanks for your kind words! Our group is still fairly new and inexperienced and we haven't really got a demonstration team! However we are often invited to events as at the moment we seem to be the only people in Portugal doing public demonstrations of Scottish Country Dance. We accept the invitations because we are trying to get more people interested in doing this kind of dancing, because it is a such a wonderful activity.
I think your group here are all fantastic dancers and yes, it is a wonderful activity. I live in England so there are quite a few SCD classes but I ma the youngest member by about three decades unfortunately. I told my friends at school about my hobby and all but one thought it was ridiculous and boring (the one who didn't is Scottish herself). It's a shame that the younger generations don't appreiciate this sport.
The problem (of not attracting young dancers) is not quite as bad outside the UK, maybe because Scottish Country Dancing is seen as exotic and therefore interesting (people especially seem to love the kilts, sashes, and all that). In Estonia, for example, there's a thriving SCD group of mainly young people.
I wish it was like that in this country. Nobody wants to do sports like this because it's not 'cool'. Perhaps in Estonia the young people aren't as fussy as to how they appear to other people.
Hi, We've only just seen your comment! The Dream Catcher is a lovely dance with a beautiful tune and people really seem to enjoy doing it. Hope your class went well. Roger and Sue

I'm teaching this dance tonight. It is really nice to be able to watch how it flows in addition to reading the directions. Thanks.
