@TheMustangMen I don't really see how a "new power steering system" will make the Explorer (or any SUV or truck, for that matter) any safer....especially since a VAST MAJORITY of the people that drive SUVs and trucks are WAY too aggressive, and drive the things as though they are main battle tanks and can go through or over anything in their way..

@Raptor232 as a driver of an SUV (03 Explorer) i find your comment retarded. its the drivers or smaller cars that cause most of the wrecks because they pull out in front of oncoming traffic since their car is smaller they feel like they can make it. and they drive faster and swerve in and out of traffic. and lets talk weather. your little rice burner cant handle snow like an SUV or truck can. and i can fill up my gas tank every 9 days and i average about 19mpg. @skaterat1515 Actually, my 2009 BMW 128i, which is in no way a rice burner, gets 25 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, so your arguement is the one that's invalid.

@skaterat1515 While it may be true that people in SUVs may be safe drivers in your area, the people in my area drive their SUVs like maniacs. I know that not all SUV drivers are aggressive, but in my area, a vast majority of them drive as though they are the only ones on the road. I personally, am an EXTERMELY safe driver, mostly because of all the SUV drivers in my area.

Ford really ruined this Explorer. i dont even think of it as an explorer if anything its a new edge at best but its no longer what made it great and its not a good all around work vehicle and it can not go off road well anymore either. We former Ford guys are weeping at Fords mess up. Someone should be fired for this, the new edge, cmax, and the euro look

Its just Ford appealing to the new buyers, who for the most part dont care about the fact that its a boring crossover all they want is that new hideous generic crossover styling that every manufacturer has and gas mileage.

No thats completely different as the way Ford likes to work is a 4 year run before redesign sooo that said the new Mustangs and the dodges you mentioned are on the last of that platforms life span as by the time the 2014 regulations fully take part the cars and engines will be completely different. The Explorer is getting a preview of the less cylinder sized engines along with the new F150. Almost anything over a v6 car made by an american dealer will cease to exist by 2014.

I will not be buying an Explorer when I need a new SUV instead I'll buy a Jeep Liberty or Nissan Xterra.

If I wanted a crossover I'd buy an Escape heck I would not even buy a crossover and would buy a mini van because that is what a crossover is.

I think basing everything off the D3/D4 platform will be remembered as one of the greatest screw ups in Ford's history.

Worked at the KC assembly plant for 8 years. Worked in Paint Trim Chassis and I.P. lines. I would never buy a FORD. They are cheaply made and way over priced. The workers that build your car are generally drunk or high. I've even seen beer cans in door panels numerous times. Management only cares about production not quality. It's not just about peak power where that power is made is more important.

For example 300hp at 5500 rpm will always be faster then 300hp at 6700 rpm if vehicle weight and traction remain the same.

In a vehicle this heavy you need torque which the 3.5 lacks a honda civic probably could beat it 0-60.
