@munchchewy0 - this owl is not caged, she is wild and free. What you are seeing in the picture is an outdoor nest box which she has CHOSEN to lay her eggs in; the camera is remote, there's no human right there.
It kind of sounds like a kitten at first. Owls are such amazing and majestic creatures. It's said their natural habitat is disappearing due to human expansion.
Eastern Screech Owls are thriving in our urban area, we even had a couple coming to our birdbath every eve during this past summer and sitting in our trees and carport
I know from first hand experience how hearing one of these little owls for the first time might spook someone. especially if you are out in the woods at night. I awoke one night while staying at a relatives lake cabin. I was sleeping on the screend in porch which was raised above the ground several feet. an oak was right by where i was laying just on the other side of the screen. Several screech owls awoke me from this tree. It was really cool. I could see some of them occasionally flying about
cool name BBB! I was camping with my freind and we heard a sound similar to this and he thought it was sasquatch. He woulnd't believe me that it was an owl!
@xxdamonxx77 Pretty sure that's not a pet. More like a birdhouse with a tiny camera hidden in it. You can build nests like this for other birds and squirrels too. I doubt this is illegal.
Thanks for watching the video. the box is standard size, even if it does seem a little cramped. the wol was able to raide five owlets in there this spring, so I guess it's big enough.
@kleetus92 The box is obviously big enough, judging by the fact that the owls selected it to use as a nest site. Its not like they have 'standard size' nest cavities in great supply out in nature.
I'm in SW Florida and I think I found two screech owls in a tree next to my window. Beautiful birds. Thanks for vocals!

You should'nt keep any wild animal for a pet. If you have a rehabber's liscence then you can rehabilitate and release.Wild animals are not pets!

You can hears these birds in our neighborhood in metro Detroit where large swaths of unused land in the city are 'devolving' back to prairie.

addpoochdog 3 years ago
no, you are most certainly not.

It's illegal to keep an owl as a pet in every state unless you have a special license.

The camera doesn't have an electrical 'buzz' that bothers them? Like a TV thats on, but no feed on screen?

Only if you have a license for that owl.
You could have one for a pet, but it would be illegal.
Unless you go to Hogwarts, but are living in illinois...
