  • I'm in SW Florida and I think I found two screech owls in a tree next to my window. Beautiful birds. Thanks for vocals!

  • This is too cute :-) Thank you so much for sharing.

  • How could you not love this? I grew up falling asleep to this beautiful music.

  • You should'nt keep any wild animal for a pet. If you have a rehabber's liscence then you can rehabilitate and release.Wild animals are not pets!

  • To the person below me! Meeeee tooooo

  • There is some bird keeping me up every night and I'm trying to figure out what kind it is but it doesn't sound like this :( the search continues...

  • 1 person is a mouse.

  • I had an owl in my backyard at my other house.

  • You can hears these birds in our neighborhood in metro Detroit where large swaths of unused land in the city are 'devolving' back to prairie.

  • @calyxcorona Do you have a camera I am curious to see the "restored" prairie. :)

  • @calyxcorona that is cool :)

  • awww they have eggs! how cute

  • Thanks for providing nesting habitat for this wonderful animal!

  • Me and my mom and sis where walking in and heard one of these and had no idea what the heck it was and we were terrified!

I guess that is what I get for watching horror movies!:DD

  • The male owl helps feed and raise the young...

  • Jim, are these birds the type that have to separate the father from the young?

  • bohemian owls

  • @munchchewy0 - this owl is not caged, she is wild and free. What you are seeing in the picture is an outdoor nest box which she has CHOSEN to lay her eggs in; the camera is remote, there's no human right there.

  • @djerwulfe Anyone who watches the video I guess.

  • i have one in my back yard now i thought someone was getting stabbed its so loud when they get startted up and annoying scared the crap out of me

  • @2mofosfulofit true shit i thought the same thing

  • i love birds of prey.

  • It kind of sounds like a kitten at first. Owls are such amazing and majestic creatures. It's said their natural habitat is disappearing due to human expansion.

  • Eastern Screech Owls are thriving in our urban area, we even had a couple coming to our birdbath every eve during this past summer and sitting in our trees and carport

  • I know from first hand experience how hearing one of these little owls for the first time might spook someone. especially if you are out in the woods at night. I awoke one night while staying at a relatives lake cabin. I was sleeping on the screend in porch which was raised above the ground several feet. an oak was right by where i was laying just on the other side of the screen. Several screech owls awoke me from this tree. It was really cool. I could see some of them occasionally flying about

  • the same happened to me! they were on the ground though O.o

  • cool name BBB! I was camping with my freind and we heard a sound similar to this and he thought it was sasquatch. He woulnd't believe me that it was an owl!

  • Wow.. I heard this call out my window just tonight, does that mean it's a mating call?

  • QUESTION, are you allowed to keep an owl for a pet in Illinois???

  • no, you are most certainly not.

  • It's illegal to keep an owl as a pet in every state unless you have a special license.

  • @xxdamonxx77

This owl is wild -- remote camera....

  • @MeadowlandsBlog

The camera doesn't have an electrical 'buzz' that bothers them? Like a TV thats on, but no feed on screen?

  • @xxdamonxx77 Pretty sure that's not a pet. More like a birdhouse with a tiny camera hidden in it. You can build nests like this for other birds and squirrels too. I doubt this is illegal.

  • Only if you have a license for that owl.

You could have one for a pet, but it would be illegal.

Unless you go to Hogwarts, but are living in illinois...

  • Precious video of one of nature's neates owls. Thanks 4 airing it.

  • OWLETS.

  • Thanks for watching the video. the box is standard size, even if it does seem a little cramped. the wol was able to raide five owlets in there this spring, so I guess it's big enough.

    Best,

    Jim

  • @BirdsBatsBeyond If you don't mind me asking, by what standard?

  • box could probably be a little bigger no? Looks a little tight to the tail?

  • @kleetus92 The box is obviously big enough, judging by the fact that the owls selected it to use as a nest site. Its not like they have 'standard size' nest cavities in great supply out in nature.
