  • People seem quick to criticize parrot videos. It's all out of context people. Bigger better cages, multiple bowls of food. The Parrot looks healthy and happy. It isn't exhibiting any stereotypic behavior, it has lots of pretty feathers, it hasn't pulled out it's feathers AND people are clearly interacting with it.

  • She is a gorgeous grey - beautifully feathered. She is so busy chasing the dog that she doesn't have time to pick feathers. ha

  • This is one of my favorite parrot videos. I used to raise African greys and this grey is very young and about as excited as I've ever seen any parrot.

    SO FUNNY.

  • The volume is terrible. I couldn't hear a thing.

  • Poor Dog!!

    lol.

  • Awwh that's cute (:

  • Cute.

  • You know it really doesn't seem like either animal is having much fun in this little interaction so why encourage it?

  • I guess people don't read info about the video.

The cage was her juvinille cage and she was never locked in. We got her a huge cage which you can see in other videos, we only had that cage still in there, because she was used to that cage cause she was in it since 4 weeks of age, we were weaning her into her new cage

  • I hope that cage isn't for the grey. That size is for a cockatiel. They need a hugh cage!

  • mental grey...i would love to have one ...if i could afford it =[...i'm stickin to my ecky for the time being

  • That parrot is going to be dog food one day.

  • 1:25 she lost here mind an screamed LILy and it was like a michael myers trys to jump to the dog the guy blocks him and the bird says lily tryin to get the dog back and he is like did he say lily and the birds like i dont know lol funny bird we got a african grey to foster its funny it say trick or treat oooooh shit cherps like a bird whistle like one of those smoke detecters in the house he is funny

  • Oh wow!! :)

  • I dont think hes playing the dog is scard

  • SO DANG CUTE!

  • what i think i cool is that the dog knows shes playing

  • That was awesome! I could absolutely hear her say "I don't know!" before you guys asked if she said that! Amazing! I'm thinking about getting an african grey and I think seeing this just helped me decide that it would be a good choice! Neat video! What a sweet bird!

  • Hi there, thanks very much for watching and am glad you enjoyed it!

One thing, if you decide to get one, you must realize they are very social creatures and love a lot of attention, so if you have the time and comintment you are right for a grey, but if you don't have time, I would look for a different kind of bird, not trying to be mean, I just let all owners know when they say they want a grey..... it's a lot of work cause they need at least 2 hours of your time a day,

  • came through, so spend lots of time with your bird when you can and when you go away to work and come home, the bird will come to life when you walk in the room.

When I come back from work or I let her out she regurgitates food for me and gets excited when I come to let her out, she is my baby and the only animal I can have and she acts just like a dog, so I have the best of both worlds... who needs a dog when you have one that can fly and bark as well :)

  • *Chuckles* She sounds amazing!

Oh yes, I am very aware of how much they need attention wise, which is why I am straying far away from the idea of a cockatoo. I do have time for the bird, I'm actually working my way up slowly from parakeets, to cockatiels, but I just need something with a bit more... interaction I guess. Not to say my teils aren't little characters, but, you know what I mean. Thank you very much for answering me! God bless ya!

  • ur dog is a saint :o)! How old is ur bird here?

  • She was only 3 months old in that video :D

  • if they're gonna live together for as long as these animals can live (a long time!) than they have to establish some kind of relationship and this is pretty much how it goes down i imagine. two very diff animals and the bird is doing a great job at establishing dominance which is good cause the dog could easily kill it if he wanted. can imagine this may create a rather agressive bird tho but who knows, everyones diff. love the "i dont know" response by the way. these birds are so smart

  • my african grey plays with my rottie all the time.she feeds him seeds and rides on his back.its nothing i force the bird climbs out of its cage when my dog comes in.

  • If she was terrified, than why was she playing? she would be growling at them if she WAS terrifled. As having her since 4 weeks old I known her very well and she was not terrified. She was having fun, she would do fight or flight response if she was, she is not clipped nor ever has been. SHe is a very rare parrot andwould never allow something bad to happen to her. For someone tobe at a bird rescue I would think they would know about fight or flight response.

Again this bird IS NOT TERRIFIED!!

  • wow thats amazing how the the dog and bird are living together peacefully very funny and cute

  • I'm less worried about the cage than I am the treatment... the bird is obviously young, and throwing tantrums, and from what I can see is terrified at moments.

You're setting yourselves up for a monster bird, encouraging this sort of thing.

Btw, this is not a random comment, this comes from an African Congo owner.

Beyond that, we have a large dog that plays NICELY with our AC, and no screaming, terrified flights/attacks, or randomly attacking doors that 'sneak up' behind them.

  • Actually I disagree with you, as a bird owner myself. if the bird was upset it or terrified it would have been trying to get AWAY from the dog, and it certainly would not have stopped and let the dog sniff it, and also notice the bird "kissed" the dog in the video as well. The bird was simply playing. The bird is also not showing signs of distress. Distress is Squawking, screaming and frantic clumsy movements, and panic. This bird is fine.. Not trying to argue, just saying what I know..

  • Thank you! I totaly agree with you! If a parrot or anyother animal is being chased ot threated; take an example a rabbit running from a fox, do you think its going to stop and say hey we are just playing and stop and let the fox catch it? I don't think so...... My parrot I have seen her afraid before; she is terrified of little children; just because there size; she has never been tormented or hurt by children; any child under the age of 4 she growls and fly's away from them.... so she not afrid

  • okay, to all the dumbasses who obviously can't see the SIZE of that bird OR it's beak OR the way it's acting like IT wants to kill the DOGS instead of the other way around: obviously this kind of bird obviously already established the point that it's not gonna let the dogs hurt it.

    Plus I'm sure the owners wouldn't exactly let the dogs get a hold of the bird (unlike my mom with our poor ringneck). So stop fricken complaining. x__x;

  • Comment removed

  • first off, the dogs were allowed to leave the room, notice how we blocked the bird from leaving the room, but the dogs were free to go?

Another thing, I thought it was cute, plus she was around the dog since 4 weeks of age and had imprinted on her, one of her first words was my dogs name Lily.

I did not force anything, if the dog was so scared or was not having fun, why did the dog stay in the room when the bird was chasing? When she could have left at anytime??

  • ah dont worry, freaks who dont have dogs and birds would never get how funny they are,,, I had twin girls and believe me if I PUT VIDEO OF THEM FIGHTING UP I WOULD BE JAILED, IT WAS FUNNY THO HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • I agree lol, I had 2 St. bernards, 4 birds and 10 cats, and an aquarium of fish. The birds would watch the fish for HOURS, hilarious. People think that birds are these fragile creatures that are stressed by everything, but most birds are just uncomfortable the first few days and then its peaches and cream from there on out. at least it was for me. Maybe I had very tollerant birds.. but all 4? coincidence? I think not.. Still I agree, people without other pets and just birds don't understand.

  • Ssooooooooo much agreed!!!!

  • honestly one of the cutest things i seen in a long time, it made my day dude, thanks for putting it up

  • that bird is nuts

  • okay because nature always acts the way it should? theres a chance of anything little kids get bit all the time by puppies things happen animals aren't always predictable sorry he was just making a valid point. Even a slight nip from that dog could kill that bird and i know that would NEVER HAPPEN but it could thats just the way animals are. Cute video nonetheless!

  • Yes, that is a very valid point and I very much agree with you, yes things happen that we can't predict; just like Steve Irwin getting killing by a sting ray, nature does happen. When this video was made, it was just a spur of the moment thing, the dogs came into the room and the bird just started to play with them,

  • Even though my dogs have been around many birds before; which is the only reason why I allowed it to happen. After this video was made; I never let the dogs play with the bird very often at all, but thank you for everyone's valid point and I agree with you all.

  • funny... the dog gets piossed bites its head off and bam say bye bye all the money u spent on parrot =)

  • Dude, omfg my dog won't even HARM A MOUSE, she has no violent blood in her body period. The dog took care of a baby sparrow I once took care of, she would lay right by the bird keeping it warm, so this bird was the size of my pinky, if she did not harm it what makes you think she will too my parrot? THat is why I let her around her, she is having fun, people like you worry too much, you act like my dog is a great dane.

My parrot is 100% completely safe.

  • well thats nice an all, but "you people" made me confused... haha i don't know your dog at all so i kinda mis judged it.. my bad =)

  • your sweet baby wants to defend his cage yar =D

and really cute dog u have there

  • Beautiful bird. I have an African Grey too, she is 5 years old. She doesn't act like that though...lol! She kinda hangs out. I love how Lucky is starting to learn language very cute!

  • Thanks! I love her dearly; she is very different; and it seems like everyday she tries to be more human. Like right now she is in a phase where she likes to walk on the floor and chase after peoples feet lol. I will get it on tape and post it; it's so cute. I don't have my dog anymore; a drunk came into my yard and she got ran over earlier this summer :( so it's been pretty hard, the bird still calls for her too.... so I think she is taking a bit after the dog in going on the floor.

  • thats cool

  • one day by instinct that dog WILL eat that bird .they must be stoned to do that ..birds are very expensive ..my best of luck to them ..all

  • nice video. it reminds me of my shamrock macaw attacking my pit bull. my pit bull is scared to death of her, but i think that birdy just wants to play. i keep them apart for safety

  • Lmao, cute bird. Reminds me of my ex's bird, but he was a cockateal. But he'd scare their dog quite a bit. He'd get real close and open his wings or scream at the dog, lmao. I guess birds feel like they have to "defend their territory" lol

  • lol, sounds about right birds are nothing to mess with, just ask steve irwin's family lol. He was so terrifed of birds; the only animal in the world he was afriad of was birds, he said parrots in general, because they always bite him lol

  • my african grey chases me around the house like that.... she hates my guts

  • What a happy and playful beautigul African Grey. You're so lucky to have him.

  • aww cute bit strange it in bathroom wouldnt it b betta in livin room

  • Reason why I had her in the bathroom is because I spent a lot of time in my room around that time and stuff going in the house was like a zoo and I wanted it in the quite place in the house which was in my room.

Yes,quite weird but she was still young adjusting......

  • lol my grey scared the shit out of a poodle

  • He's very cute, but I must also say that you may be re-enforcing bad behavior.

After a time, he might take sheer pleasure in chasing/attacking your critters AND people!

I'd also like to point out the grate in the bathroom floor...that's extremely dangerous to a little guy...he could quite possibly get a toe caught or worse.

  • Ya I understand greys are prone to doing that, but she does not; I know when she gets mad and when she is playing; if she does not want to play she will puff up and the dogs and they walk away from her. AS for the vent it was covered and removed we put it there because prior to this video I kept bumping into it. So she was completely 100% safe

  • aww, ignore them they just like to complain...

you have a lovely parrot - very cute =]

  • I dont understand why you have them both trapped in the bathroom to begin with, except to make your video. The dog isn't having any fun, and your grey is learning a very bad habbit. If you let this continue, you will regret it one day when you can't have your grey lose in the same room with the dog at the same time, because he keeps attacking the dog.....

  • First off they were NOT trapped in the bathroom. Another thing; my bird loved the dog. My bird loved her and looked up to her as a role model which in the video hence walking around on the floor and barking. She learned her first sounds from her and all her little whines. So not one animal was locked up; she even calls the dog to play. My grey is very different and acts JUST like a dog.

  • I remember when my gray was that young. So cute, I would have to wake up early to hand feed him before school. Mine never learned to talk though :( but I still love him.

  • I used to raise African greys. What a precocious baby! Looks like his tail wasn't completely grown in yet. Full of himself, isn't he? :) He has the dogs under control.

  • Hehe, She did have her feathers in but broke 3 of them learning how to fly. Oh yes! She always had the dogs under control :)

How long did you have an african grey for? I rarely ever see someone keep them untill they get old enough to pass away.

  • As an owner of 5 African Greys over the years I am just trying to figure out why it was EVER kept in th bathroom? Be curious to have that answer.

  • I'm just concerned on how TINY the cage is! That's barely big enough to accomadate a cockatiel!

  • read the description

  • I can't see this birds eyes well but I'm not mistaken he's very young (they're still black). What a cute little bappy :) Greys are like children, only they don't bum money for you or ask to borrow the car.

  • Ya, she was only 3 months old in this picture; they sure are like kids! She acts just like one when she does not get her way thats for sure! My next few videos I am going to be uploading is her having a temper tantrum because I won't let her hang from my hair. Recetnly when I get the broom out to sweep she flys to my shoulder and trys to attack the broom as she gets on my head and hangs from my hair!

  • That was pretty cute..."I don't know!" I love african greys. I have one named Alvo who is over 25 years old. He's my old man and I love him! He loves playing around with the floor dwellers in the home as well. (and there's nothing wrong with that as long as you know your pets well.) Thanks for the share!

  • Honestly, I think there is anything wrong with the animals getting to know each other. They seem to get along just fine. They even seem to like each other. As for introducing dogs to african greys, I think it just depends on the dog and the bird. My mom's african grey gets along fine with her collie in the same room. They even like each other. Lucky seems very smart, and cute.

Bottom line, y'all look like a couple of really good responsable pet owners to me.

  • Historian person is right. You took a big risk with your bird. Even a small, sweet dog could kill that bird with one quick snap. "Be niiiice" doesn't stop hunting behavior. (I'm pulling for the dog anyway!)

  • I have had her eer since she was very tiny; she has never hurt anyone; not even babies who pull her hair she just runs off or does not get close enough for them to touch her; there was no risk I know animals not to mention I know my own very well besides if the dog was going to attack her she would not be trying to run away :P

  • Trained House Dogs don't show hunting behaivor, the only domesticated animal that does, is the cat. As long as a Dog is well trained, it will never harm anything. My best friend is my Dog, A Dalmatian, and he will not even harm a Cricket when he finds one.

  • I am SO GLAD to see that my Grey is not the only bird to protect a bathroom!!!!! What a relief!!

  • That is the cutest bird ever!!

  • lol i think it's cute vid and people should stop complaining .. they say the bird sometimes sleeps by the dog.. so it's clearly not afraid of the dog. And it seriously won't hurt the bird to be on the floor or to be in a bathroom that clearly isn't so small.

  • Thank you Canadiangirl! I guess ya just can't make everyone happy ya know?

  • No kidding:P I think it's awesome when the bird''s like 'i unno? lol and yea the bird is clearly happy:P Because the dog and the bird had a little social moment at 1:10 :P

  • I also dont think the bird is afraid or unhappy this specific moment but if you dont live in the bathroom yourself, she wont be happy there. She will be happy in the same room with you.

  • If i READ what it says by the video, I understand that the bird DOES NOT live in the bathroom anymore and that it was only in there when it was still small.

  • thts harsh as fuck btw the parrot isnt playin with the dog its attacking it and the parrot is fuckin shitting itself listen to its cry its clearly afriad of what its going thru so in future dont put it on the flor with another dog in a small space

  • wth dude, she is playing with her she does it all the time and if you read it states that the cage was never closed and it was her JUVENILE cage! I got her when she was 4 weeks old. THe sound she is making is trying to mimic the barking sound. I know she is playing because if she was trying to attack my dog she would of done so by now; not to mention she sometimes sleeps by my dog!

  • Also small space? She had my entire bathroom to roam around in with nothing she could get into that would hurt her, I have a jucuzzi in my bathroom and my bathroom is around 12 X 6 it's not a small space

  • I have an cockatoo since 8 years back, please follow my advice. First take her out of the bathroom and put her cage in the room where you spend your time (not on the floor). Get a larger cage and at least one perch. The bird uses the cage as a resting place during night but it needs a perch with a good view over the appartment. I have two for my bird, one in my living room/ kitchen area and one in my work area, the cage is in a separate area with a good view.

  • Birds are very uncomfortable when they are on the floor because it is an unnatural position for them (in nature they are defenceless on the ground). Your bird is showing confusing since it spending its time on the floor but it wants to be high up. Please take her out of the bathroom, it is not a good place for her to be in. Perches are the natural area for birds to move through, not floors.

  • You have picked a bird that requires the most bonding of parrots. The first 2 years are extremely important in forming the birds behaviour. Birds are not "play" pets like dogs are. They need real affection with gentle touch and telling them how wonderful they are all the time, just like with kids.

  • 2nd comment: the bird could have flew off the floor; she already fledged in this video and this was not the first time they played they played many times before this.

  • If you want to introduce the dog to the bird or vice versa then it has to be through controlled settings. Your video does not show controlled settings for the bird because the bird is on the floor and cannot control the dog reaction. If you want to let them play, do it so the bird can decide it wants to play, for example let the bird climb by it self (with you present in the room) from a perch onto a sofa where the dog is relaxing and take the initiative.

  • ok for the firfst comment, she has been in a cage for a long time now but she is rarely ever in it, she was only there for her juvinile period untill I could have afforded a good cage which now she has a kings cage double top play pen which is huge; you can see it in some of my new videos.

  • This only shows tipical parrot temperament: they just want attention for themselves. Yours is jealous of your puppy but i had one that was terribly jealous of any young children and it could be quite scary to young kids.... very naughty indeed!

  • She does this all the time and plays with her, she also does it with the cats I used to have as well. SHe does not get jealous because she knows when she wants attention she gets it.

  • I'm getting a parrot like that I think they're pretty cool :D

  • very cool bird i always wanted to get a african grey until the local pet store worker told me she adopted a african grey parrot that took half a guy face off but the guy who half of his face was taken off abuse the bird

  • THats terrible to hear I hate people who abuse any animal or living creature. If you treat the bird nice and utmost respect, my videos show what a grey can be like. Your best friend very loving and caring. She can be very affectionate and loving; but on rare occasions she can have her wild nature and is not always receptive to touching and because of her nature of being a wild animal you have to respect it.

  • I hope thats not her cage on the floor :P

Video is cute...but yeah, usually not a good mix.

  • no that was only her juvinile cage! I even typed it in under the description of the video :)

Not to mention she was never locked in the cage not once the door was always open for her to roam around the bathroom if she pleased, everything that could have harmed her was removed from the bathroom. We got her a new cage soon after this video was made because she fledged.

  • THank you birdlover for your kind comments.

Oh I totaly agree with you, the only reason why I let my bird around the dog is because they were around each other before and as long as lucky does not bite lily; there won't be an issue but I still watch 100% when they are together; there could always be that small chance that something will happen!

  • I am sure he said "I don't know"! What a moment.

It is adorable that he is so interested in Lily. :)

Just a note for others watching: sometimes putting a dog and a bird together has sad results. Be *very* careful if you do this (and don't leave them alone).

  • I know! She is always my baby, even though she is a year 1/2 now :)

But she is more fun now than ever

  • babies are the freaking BEST!

  • A vulture eating a rat.

  • cute dog and cute bird!

the poor dog is getting attacked by a bird much smaller then him!!

    still... good clip!

  • he did say 'i dont know'! :)

  • Funny parrot. It takes my conure about a month to learn a new word and say it clearly. Check out some of my videos involving my parrot and bird, although they are not funny like this one.

  • Aw man... at the 1:10 bit when they were touching I was hoping the Grey would bark loudly and scare the shizzle outta that dog!

  • haha thats not playing lol da bird is tryin to beat up da dawg

  • Hehe, ya she sure does show her weight around the other animals! But she never attacks or bites them, she just likes to act like she is going to do something to them lol.

I uploaded some more of her, but instead of the animals she is trying to bully me and play on me like I am her gym pad lol

  • your bird is a bully! and bullies should be locked up in cages!lol. You have a very cute and confident parrot!nice video...mre please!

  • LOL the dog just cannot make out what this strange creature trying to play with it really is! My Grey is wayyyy outclassed by my dog so we keep them away from each other. But he does call my dog and scolds the other one outside once in a while.

  • hehe, actually she drives us mad :) but we love her so very much she is my baby!

  • My bird drives my dad insane!!Oh and he loves to chase my mom!

  • your driving the bird mad!!

  • Playing? 'funny choice of word there' Dontchya think? looks like the dog enjoyin' it too much!NOT!LOL!

I LOVE the way cag loses his rag when he backs into his cagedoor! And then later goes back+has another go at it!!Does he think that 'dog' is 'mum'? CAGs are great fun to have around arent they..mine's a nutter!! and very funny too!

Truly amazin' with right word/right time 2!LOL:

  • naa that was only her juvinile cage nd she was never locked in there, not to mention if we travel to the vets office we use that cage because her cage is a kings cage dual top with wheels and it wont even fit in a van not assembled. So she only had that cage for 2 months, i got her before she was weaned, i handfed birds many times before. Even though she only had it that long it took around a month to wean her into a new cage, I would never keep a grey in that size of a cage its cruel

  • Please tell me that isn't the bird's cage. Otherwise, very cute.

  • It looks like your grey is in charge of the dog, very funny!

  • That is the cutest bird EVER. <3 My god, when I have my own house I'm so going to have one of those as a pet bird...

  • African Grey's are some smart ass birds

    i want one so bad

  • lol naw, she aint pyscho she is just playing and rough housing, she is the sweetest thing you ever seen, ill add some videos of her being so loving....

  • I have heard those African Grays are pyshco and I saw it now.
