Earlier this week at the Wal Mart in Logan, West Virginia, they was a man named Jesus "Jesse" Canul who had cashed his paycheck was followed out to his car and robbed. So he gave it to him and the robber took 3 steps to get away andJesse pulled out the pistol on his side and shot him in the back and he died. Now Jesse is being charged with murder. Those who are permitted and required to have a military rifle in their home, all must have licences, and actual military training. Also those who do not have this licence, and training are NOT allowed to have firearms, except under certain circumstances. If the US had mandatory military training, then a gun in each hand would be acceptable. But they do not.

Why would anyone propose gun regulation in order to reduce crime? The government could (over several dead bodies) make a law making it illegal to have a gun. The man threatened to kill him if he didn't give him his wallet. Personally, I think an allied victory would not have been likely if USA didn't finally join in and do their part. At least not the same victory that we ended up with. Not only is the question complex, it's unfair... if you're just going to use the answer to claim that you saved the world. For every 80 per capita military losses you had, Canada had 100, UK had 200 and Russia had 1500. You did your part.

Those who are permitted and required to have a military rifle in their home, all must have licences, and actual military training. Also those who do not have this licence, and training are NOT allowed to have firearms, except under certain circumstances. If the US had mandatory military training, then a gun in each hand would be acceptable. But they do not.

@dukeljk Actually you can legally buy and posess a full auto. It is expensive as hell to buy the weapon, and then you obtain an ATF class 3 license. But I do agree, liberals are dumb.

Last time I check, conservatives want to keep the ban on smoking pot and other liberties, even though smoking pot is far safer than alcohol and tobacco.

Why would anyone propose gun regulation in order to reduce crime? The government could (over several dead bodies) make a law making it illegal to have a gun. Would it prevent gun crimes, like armed robbery or murder? I always was under the impression that crime was illegal in the first place. Robbing and killing people has been illegal for a long time, and so the government needs to find more effective ways of keeping these things from happening. Let us defend ourselves? or Stockades for all?

@andrewziegler206 The idea is to end the gun culture and tradition by getting rid of guns. Japan banned rifles and handguns. They have 127 million+ population and no gun culture. Do you think criminals are running around with guns killing everyone in Japan? Of course not. Japan suffers only a few dozen gun murders per year mostly by organized crime. USA is a haven for criminals. There are hundreds of millions of legal guns for them to steal and commit crimes with.

@andrewziegler206 A Canadian criminal who wants a handgun almost always has to buy or steal an illegal gun which used to be legal in the USA. When the USA bans legal handguns outright nationwide, handgun death will go way down on both sides of the border. Someday the USA could be as safe as Canada or Japan. But that will NEVER happen without a national handgun ban.

So the problem is the gun culture. Not the gun rights. Have you ever seen the documentary "Bowling for Columbine"? The point of that documentary is that Americans have an irrational fear of their fellow man, making them crazy about gun rights, while ignoring other liberties. If you want to make a case for that you can. But banning guns is not going to reduce any gun culture. Taking away this mass media that induces fear in people will.

It's a lot harder to kill people, if you don't have a gun handy. If you get angry, it's far too easy to squeeze your finger compared to the force required for a blunt-force-trauma or knife killing..
Guns make killing far too easy.
Why does an 18th century law made to protect the state by giving it the right to uphold a militia, still apply so strongly to individuals? It was ensurance that the British wouldn't try to invade again. And that the standing army couldn't seize power.

yes, but I was saying so, when referring to an earlier era. It was a functional solution back then, when the difference between militiamen and the army was just training.
Now that the difference alongside training includes a huge gap between weapons calibers, and efficiency, it isn't the same ballpark as before.

@usaisadump So why would you go to the trouble of having anti gun laws? Do Canada and the UK have no murder laws in place already? Please entertain the notion that criminals don't tend to obey laws. The restrictions of law only apply to those who choose to be law abiding. If guns were publicly banned from your community, any criminals could feel secure in the fact that they would be the ones to break the law, have the only gun and therefore the ultimate upper hand. Period.
