  • ahh such beautiful music...

...and these religion war is ruining teh fuckken peace. D:

  • Why was this Video removed? It's the only version of Air On G string I can listen to and First on my Playlist :-( All the other versions sounds terrible. Please put it back on

  • god. this song makes me feel sleepy and which means...relaxing.

  • I hate myself for bringin this immaturity up, but Bach composed a piece called G-String^^haha

Love Air on a G-String though!!!And I mean the song;)

  • beautiful... timeless... just like Asuka's arm split in half...

  • Anyway my point is, belief in god is a matter of faith. One of the most important things about being a Christian I was taught as a child was that god rewards followers for accepting Christ with pure faith. Trying to prove it to yourself or anyone else with evidence isnt faith. More or less that same applies to athiests who are such because of rational and scientific thinking. Prove to such an atheist scientifically that god exists and he still wont be Christian. God will just be scientific fact.

  • @TheEpisteme Without a questioning attitude, faith is merely credulity...

I don't think God fears critical examination from His creatures, do you?

Anselm said: I do not seek to understand so that I may believe, but I believe so that I may understand. For I believe this also that unless I believe, I shall not understand...

  • Facts are facts. There isn't more than one applicable definition of truth. For one thing you would have to demonstrate that the soul and spirit exists, which by many definitions can't be proven. Things involving the soul and spirit aren't truth, they're faith. You can't expect someone who requires more than pure faith to believe what a holy text says just because it insists without evidence that it is true. Perhaps such verses are moving and inspiring to believers but that doesn't make them true

  • @TheEpisteme Truth is only illuminating if u approach it in a spirit corresponding to the requirements...

You mean that YOU are only your physical BODY? U surely have a will, intellect and emotions? This is your SOUL! [Or personality.]

U have a spirit but it is extinguished. It needs rekindling. The moment the Spirit quickens us to life in regeneration, our whole being senses its kinship to God and leaps up in joyous recognition. This is SPIRIT. You will only know it when you experience it.

  • That a song so beautiful can come from someone who believes in so ugly a religion fills me with more hope than any belief system can.

  • this melody describe the life ....

  • Bach is the only JB worth mentioning,

  • This is so soothing for your soul to listen to. Bach is my favourite composer and once upon a time when I was a piano player I alsways played Bach. THanks meehall for this share!

    Maggan

  • Can someone direct me to a link to a score for this piece?

  • @jomxi try 8notes.com

  • I must say that every time I hear this I feel angry... because I know that even if I lived 1000 years I could not create something so beautiful... This makes me feel insufficient as an human being... because this proves that we humans are really capable of extraordinary achievements, I'm sorry that I'm not. But I don't want to stop feeling this anger that strangely feels so good. Thank you so much, J.S. Bach.

  • SE7EN the movie brought me here.

  • Dignity and Gallantry of Human Soul - that's how I called this masterpiece.

  • it makes you feel confident.

  • so relax....

  • why can't I shut up the immature twelve year old in my head about the title?

  • so much music to listen to, i could spend the lazy afternoon listening

  • IS there anyone now days that makes great classical music?? my fav is canon in d.. its been stuck in my head sincei first heard it as a kid.....and i alwyas hear it on commercials and weddings and etc

  • beautiful, truly beautiful <3

  • 48 people must be deaf...

  • many people don't realize that true musical geniuses compose classical songs for groups from solos to full orchestras. People like Bach will never appear in history again. It's sad that classical music is so looked down upon

  • @plot000000 it's not the music that is looked down upon. it's the bloated pretentious attitude that fans of classical music have that makes me lose my mind. you can apply that to any self important jackass who rants about high art thinking they have some superior insight into what art is. personally, i have always preferred jazz, far more interesting, but hey to each his/her own opinion, right?

  • @plot000000

I disagree. Bach was unique, but there will be others my friend. Keep your chin up.

  • TOP GEAR !

  • "How's this for culture?"

  • @bentheiburg Se7en

  • @pedt great movie

  • B O S K i E !...

  • This music just makes the hairs on the back of my Neck stand on end. Very moving by Bach.

  • None of the music made today will survive like this piece will for centuries to come.

  • The humble Lutheran J. S. Bach, composer of this work, wrote lyics (text) to many of his choral works. The texts are so stunning that he has also been called the" Fifth Gospel writer:' Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and J. S. Bach. His works are known to be "perfect." His name is known by billions, now and throughout history. The names of those who wrote so many of the sad comments that I have I seen written will never be noticed, let alone remembered. I am offended by their comments.

  • "Air" is another way of saying "song." G refers to the string G on a stringed instrument. "Air on the G String" is actually known just as "Air," but it is so famous that we now call it "Air on the G String" to distinguish it from the other "Airs" that Bach composed. This work was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Without his input, music would sound entirely different now. Bach has been given the title "Father of Music" for obvious reasons.

  • @choirmaestroJack

Nope, definitely means air on a thong.

  • a masterpiece with funny name

  • aaand i found what i'm walking down the isle to. now, i just gotta find a groom hehehe

  • Why do I have the mental image of someone in a thong farting?

    ... Air on a G String...

    Ah

  • i know they didnt even have g strings back then it just goes to prove that classical music doesnt actually exist im confident in this beleief

  • This is the type of music that would go nicely with lovely scenery and a pretty nice boat.

  • Air on a G string : Pussy

  • magnifique musique...

  • This is a heavenly, immortal music!

  • Great piece for a funeral :)

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to mourn the loss of....

  • @kosmonautt

    Bach.

  • Vuvuzela

  • No hay una version 2010 en la que canta una chica? me gusta mucho, pero no la encuentro! GRACIAS

  • Great piece, even though this is not even the "G-String" version.... "Air on a G-string" is an arrangement of this piece for violin and piano, transposed to C-major. So cut out the crappy jokes, and post them on other vids that actually feature the G-String-arrangement (^-^)

  • When I'm stressed (like right now) I listen to this

  • Beautiful.

  • @ brutoid: no comment

@ volvorulez: it is indeed a beautiful piece.

  • @EbonysEnd Thanks.

  • This is beautiful...BUT..hair on a G String aint so grand...:~)

  • This is beautiful...BUT..hair on a G String aint so grand...

  • Több mint jó!

  • Carl Sagan... Cosmos

  • Officially my favourite song.

  • @VOLVORULEZ1995 I've listened to this endlessly since my love sent it to me. Thank God I live alone. I'm sure I'd be driving another person crazy with my repetitive playing. But then again, who cares... This touches the depths of me.

  • @bleger814 I agree with you on that one, I alway repeat the same song over and over, and ne'er get tired of it.

  • @bleger814 I wish to hear a song that touched my innards...

  • @VOLVORULEZ1995 not to be a dick but if there's no words its a 'piece'

  • @fromthenorthwest yeah that just made you a dick...

  • @TomKeep007 good

  • @fromthenorthwest I was talking about songs in general, if I hear one I like, I play it over and over like Snow Patrols Just Say Yes, or something like that.

  • Too easy crass comment by, wonder of wonders, someone named Shipoopism. What recording is this? I so love it. I've posted it and shared it among my friends.

  • is this song in D ?

  • thank you. this is true nobility. My love gave this to me as a gift. I'm crying.

  • thank you.

  • who are these 46 idiots who dislike the video? the actually have no taste in music

  • @Didelum Idiots, of course.

  • @Didelum I've always wondered how it cld be possible in the future Millennium on earth to actually be with God and to see God and experience God with our senses - His holiness, His beauty, His Perfection - and still reject Him. In instances like this [49 people who dislike this heavenly music,] I can understand it a little bit. I don't think they [yet] have the faculty for experiencing God. I don't mean it unkindly.

  • @kelkiewyn - What a retarded statement to make...

  • @Hardysamnin If the shoe fits, friend, put it on...

  • @kelkiewyn - You're not my friend asshole.

  • @kelkiewyn - The point is, comparing the two is rediculous. I can prove Bach lived, and wrote this beautiful piece of music. You (nor anybody else) can prove Gods existence. Why even bring some bullshit like that up on a video like this anyway? Troll much?

  • @Hardysamnin OK you're baiting me... Why not just leave it at the "asshole" bit? I didn't reply did I? Can it be that you are subconsciously searching for this glorious Being that one can know intimately and personally? I CAN actually prove God's existence... the problem is your spirit is not functioning and unless your spirit is re-kindled again through faith in Christ Jesus, you are not able to understand spiritual truths, so I will be wasting my time and breath.

  • @kelkiewyn - Why mention it on a Bach video, you were looking for a reaction and you got one. Your bollocks was in no way whatsoever relative to what this video is about. And your comparison between people who flag down one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written, and none believers is grosely and deeply insulting. No you can't prove it dude, people have been trying to for centuries and it always results in epic fail. And if you could, you would be a very very very rich man.

  • @Hardysamnin I'm a girl by the way! Why shouldn't I mention it on a Bach Video if I feel that the music is heavenly and heaven for me is associated with God? Our communication is not going anywhere - let's agree to disagree and leave it at that!

  • @kelkiewyn - Point being it was a confrontational statement, irrelevant to the topic. You insulted a lot of people with your ignorance. Can you imagine me saying in here, "Those people who thumbs down this tune, are stupid like those sheep that believe in a magical sky daddy" I would't attack any religious organisation without provocation. And you provoked me. Good day.

  • @Hardysamnin You've just proved my point! "...magical sky daddy..." indeed! See what I mean? Have your spirit rekindled man and you will never make such an ignorant comment again. And I am not religious at all by the way! Irreligious enough in fact to wish YOU a not-so-"Good Day" for the rest of the day. Here in SA it is 19:00 and I'm clocking out to listen to my music for the rest of the evening.

  • @kelkiewyn - Evidence or GTFO!

  • @Hardysamnin Get your spirit rekindled by faith in Jesus Christ or you don't get the evidence!

  • @kelkiewyn - What a cop out. How bloody convenient. All religions say theirs is the only way to heaven, how can you be so sure Jesus Christ is the only way?

If he is real, his father is a homocidal maniac, why would I want to follow somebody like that?

  • @Hardysamnin If I was Him, I wouldn't want a foul-mouthed, ignoramus like you to follow me! It is clear you are resorting to profanity and blasphemy because you know you haven't got a leg to stand on and that makes you furious! As I said right in the beginning, I am not prepared to waste my time and breath to try and convince someone intellectually of things that can only be discerned by spirit! And why would I want to in any case. I don't even like you!

  • @kelkiewyn - If you don't want these exchanges in the future. Do yourself a massive favour and talk about bullshit fairy tales, written by retarded, homophobic, sexist ignorant, bigot desert nomads centuries ago. How much of that great book has now been refuted? 6000 year old earth (bullshit) flat earth? (bullshit) earth travels around the sun? (laughable bullshit)

Talking snakes, burning bushes, men from dust, women from ribs (utter utter bullshit)

I actually quite like you =)

  • @Hardysamnin George Browning wrote: If you are down in a valley you see only the surrounding walls hemming you in, but as you climb to the rim, your view broadens out and limitless horizons dawn into your vision which are unknown and unseen in the valley below. God is hid behind a smokescreen of mortal thinking. When you elevate your thoughts, the curtains lift and you get a glimpse of the over-shadowing presence of God...

  • @kelkiewyn - So what? Being philosophical about a subject doesn't make it any more true. There has never ever, been one single case, where any supernatural claim has ever been substantiated. There is a very good reason for that. Look.. you believe your myths, just don't go ramming it down other peoples throats. You have turned a music video blog, into a religious battle ground for no good reason, I hope you're happy.

  • @Hardysamnin "...YOU have turned a music video blog..." I like that!! It takes two to tango... No wonder some people find it absolutely impossible to find God in a way that others do. They are so shallow and superficial they wouldn't recognise Him if He stood right in front of their eyes - which did actually happen by the way. So join the club. Any fool in this world will acknowledge that there is design in the universe and... DESIGN IMPLIES A DESIGNER!!! So you are worse than a fool! Huffy!!!

  • @kelkiewyn - WHO WAS IT WHO MENTIONED GOD??? YOU, YOU RETARD!!

Ahhh the old design needs a designer line. You're going to ask me why no one has found a crocoduck next right? Or how the eye is to complex to have formed by random mutations?

Look, you believe your thousand year old retarded bullshit, I'll believe what the most intelligent people on earth have compiled over the last 80 to a hundred years.

What it turns into is Fact(overwhelming amounts of them) V's a comfort blanket of fiction.

  • @kelkiewyn - If you had said something like, "What a beautiful tune, thank the Lord God for such wonderful music" I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. What you did was insult myself and millions of others. You compare people with little taste in music, to none believers, in that their brain can't fathom it.

Well you know what? I KNOW Bach existed, and I KNOW he wrote this tune. There is actual EVIDENCE for it. You are a troll. Fuck you, fuck your religion, and fuck your God. Over and out.

  • @kelkiewyn I didn't think it possible, but you are even a greater fool than I thought... To every man there openeth A way, and Ways and a Way And the High soul climbs the High way And the Low soul climbs the Low And in between on the misty flats The rest drift to and fro But to every man there openeth A High way and a Low And every man decideth The way his soul shall go John Oxenham – Selected Poems Over and Out!!! Subject closed! Finis!
  • @kelkiewyn design need a designer..

You cant tell how all this were made by just looking on how things work on earth..If you study the Universe u'll see that this is so much bigger. Myself I dont think there is an answear to get, just eternity. Life is constantly developing for some reason and so arewe. If u use "design implies a designer" as an argument then what about the designer of the designer?

  • @CareBearnot Do yourself a favour and watch Louie Giglio's "Indescribable" video on youtube - copy all parts first so that u can watch the whole video at one go otherwise u won't get the message.

There is evidence and answers that will satisfy your intellectual integrity but there is a KEY that you have to turn. The moment you do, your eyes will "open" and you will "see!" The KEY is Jesus. He is the Way and the TRUTH and the LIFE and no-one comes to the Father except through Him.

  • @kelkiewyn The reason i think that people refuse anything like eternity, or "the universe just exist" is because our minds were (created?) here on earth, a lifeform create another lifeform, cause and conseqvences, we have grew up in a part of the universe where everything around us has been created, and we see creation everyday (life, birth) So that is what our brains use as an pattern when trying to explain things. Stop think like that, accept everything as a possibility until proven wrong.

  • @kelkiewyn Thats not the way evidence works. Evidence is something that can be demonstrated to be true no matter what your personal beliefs or feelings on any particular subject may be. I dont understand why people with various religious or spiritual convictions would try to use evidence or rationalize things to persuade someone to share their belief. If there is evidence for god and his miracles, then they aren't really miraculous are they? It would just be science, and doesn't that cheapen it?

  • @TheEpisteme Are we talking about scientific facts involving the brain and body, or about God’s truth involving the soul and spirit? Jesus said: “Thy Word is truth.”

  • @kelkiewyn prove it, and unless your scientific methodology is immaculate, I would believe you. But If you cite the bible, written by man, and or cite faith, then you are clearly a fool.

  • @scylla019 [This is not the proof I'm talking about... just a thought] If someone should ask you whether you know president Obama, you would have to say "Yes, of course I know him... I've heard about him, I've seen him on TV, read about him in the newspapers and magazines..." but if someone should ask whether you have MET him, it would be a totally different kind of "knowing" wouldn't it? I mean, there could be no doubt for you after having met him, that president Obama does exist, not so?

  • @Didelum me

  • ABSOLUTE TERROR FIELD

  • @illuminatioracle haha i dont recall hearing this in evangelion actually...was it in the movie?

  • I love music that isn't afraid to be beautiful...

  • Nothing compares to this song.

  • @michaeljg107 a song is when one is sinning, s i n n i n g, not just fucking playing instruments and stuff...

  • @MrKtolibo "Sinning?" Surely you mean "singing".

  • @MrKtolibo I always thought musical instruments were for making music :O Thankyou for teaching me the error of my ways. I'll make sure I'm sinning in the future instead.

  • @MrKtolibo Song. If one's singing, that's the lyrics.

If there's no words, then the music itself is the lyrics... :)

  • @KaliumPoppi I'm finding more and more that lyrics can be so limiting...

  • Comment removed

  • @MrKtolibo So eloquent!

  • @MrKtolibo Perhaps, the instruments are the ones doing the talking in this case. Don't be naïve.

  • lol I bet Gaspar Noe used this song so much in "Enter The Void" because of the "g-string" in the title of this piece... Brilliant haha

  • This was my wedding entrance in the church when I got married. It means so much to me and I feel like crying when I hear it . What a tune

  • baroque era didnt just die when he did.

    all music did.

  • if anyone knows where I can obtain a score of this beautiful arrangement please tell me!

    jazzmminister@yahoo.com

  • “The Aim and Final end of All Music should be

none other than the Glory of God and

    the Refreshment of the Soul.”

    ~Johann Sebastian Bach Quote

  • Perhaps the best of all his works..........

  • wow.. im still wondering how he arrange this wonderful piece of art.. ;)

  • It's so beautiful. Bach was a genius.

  • I'm happy we live in this time, back in the days this music was made for the first time only a select few had the opportunity to listen to it, now we can all enjoy this little piece of heaven...

  • @juntonio Not to mention that back in their own times, many of the artists that we know as intellectuals and geniuses were largely unknown or even shunned by the public for pushing the envelope for the advancement of music. I mean, when Beethoven premiered his first symphony people were quite literally rioting.

  • @xcorr77 Beethoven; The father of the mosh pit. <3

  • @juntonio And that is the single greatest way to repay the genius of composers like Bach, by making what was once a privilege into a personal right.

  • @juntonio you are so right

  • @juntonio very well said :C)

  • Beautiful.

  • How did i know that i was going to expect jokes about a "G-String" when clicking on this entrancing piece of music, lol.

Just a heads up, its not referring to an article of underwear :)

  • @KillaBlood1 sure it isn't...

  • This is such a beautiful piece, I love it!

  • Comment removed

  • First time I heard this was played by a violinist playing it in an underground tunnel, and it was hauntingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  • I'm guessing G-String ment something entirely different in the old days.

  • @vincentx915 Yes. There is a string tuned to G.

  • is that really what this piece is called? LMAO

  • so peaceful. feels like your soul slipping into a hot tub

  • Nice boat.

  • This is one of my favorite pieces of music. It's just so beautiful, even though I believe it has elements of sadness in it.

  • @lacornell

Can be expected. Many classical songs are often misunderstood. For example, Handel's "Hallelujah" was actually about the Apocalypse, if you look at the words. (All the words are quotes from angels in the book of Revelations.)

Even though it sounds uplifting, the underlying tone of that song is death and complete destruction of the Earth and everyone and everything on it.

  • Now this is Culture.

  • To me it's the anthem of the struggle of humanity.

  • This is perfect, just perfect

  • Almost all comments are either about Germany's history, Evangelion, or SE7EN.

    No surprise there.

  • @reggiefive0 Nice. But you forgot to mention the "g-string" jokes.

To be fair, discussions about Germany's history - and history in general of course - can be good so long as it doesn't degrade into misguided nationalistic flame wars. Eva, love it or hate it, is a fascinating show, and though I think End of Evangelion was kind of unnecessary, Anno Hideaki's choice in music and direction was superb and generates good discussion. And though I haven't seen Se7en, at least I hear it's not bad...

  • THIS IS PERFECTION ¡¡¡¡

  • superb

  • Magnificent

  • I CANNOT BE DEFEATED!

NOT WITH MOMMA WATCHING OVER ME!!

  • when i listen to this im thinking of the happy days

  • $#&$*&$&$... isso é lindo !!

  • PQP isso é lindo !!

  • 1 of (if not the) most beautiful piece ever written.

  • 46 Losers who didnt click like >.>. This is very very touching

  • There is no way I can listen to this now without picturing a gory fight in my head. Eva has ruined my life.

  • @CrazyPeach

lol you're not the only one dude...

  • @CrazyPeach

same here. It was one of the most violent and gory scenes I ever saw in an anime.

  • Astonishing piece of music, if only it was feasible to learn the way Bach played.

  • God dam chorus class i hav to listen to fken classical music i dnt mind it but i hav to do it every fken day

  • lol Air on a g string ?? haha really??

  • It's as if God drew a sweet, enduring breath and shared it with the world through a legion of angels and stars. How wonderful the tones, the calm, the artist!

  • @sipper03

    /puke

  • good recording

  • This piece is so amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • bach air on a g string

  • just classic

  • This was not the G string I was expecting.

  • @Shipoopiism Ahahaha!

  • What were you expecting?
