Just tug in the shackle and give a good tap on the left side (or whatever side the latch is located) of the shackle with your blunt object and it will open. I am a locksmith and could make a key without damaging this lock in less than five mins but have no intention of showing U how. Reality check. Here is some info on these locks. The key isn't universal among all 1525 padlocks, only the series it was designed for. I have a V30 key. It will open all locks with a V30 stamped on the back, regardless of age. It will not, however, open locks with a V36 or V58 stamped on it. 3 different key profiles for these locks exist, so in theory a "Master Key" that opens all 1525 padlocks cannot exist. For information, the 3 blanks for the locks are Ilco #'s 1092VA, 1092VR, & 1092C.
Dont need any key or combonation for that type of lock, they use a spring tention latch. all you have to do is tap the latch with a heavy object wile pulling on it and it will just pop open.

Also, a key you make for a masterlock won't open another one.

lol... so, all i have to do ti open a masterlock is to clamp it in a vise, pry off the outer back plate, take a hammer and chisel to the inner plate, wrench out the lock barrel, cut it several times with a hacksaw, yank out the innards, remove the springs and cylinder pins, and file down a key?
Seems to me one could just use the hammer and break the damn thing off before going through all this hassle, lol.

So you keep filing it down until its low enough that the pins are flat... can you just skip tearing the lock apart & just keep filing the key down, trying it in the lock until it opens it?
you can make a bump key. you file it down all the way (like his) and you take something soft (the max i would use would be a 1 pound hammer so you dont break the key) and you set it in there, and pushing in the opening side tap it a few times with your object (again 1 pound hammer is good)

Failing that, simply look at the back of the lock, the numbers on a master lock give you the answer.

So you keep filing it down until its low enough that the pins are flat... can you just skip tearing the lock apart & just keep filing the key down, trying it in the lock until it opens it?

no...each spot on the key needs to be filed down a different amount. impossible

you can make a bump key. you file it down all the way (like his) and you take something soft (the max i would use would be a 1 pound hammer so you dont break the key) and you set it in there, and pushing in the opening side tap it a few times with your object (again 1 pound hammer is good)

at first i didn't read the title correctly, so as he's breaking open the lock i was like well no shit ur getting it open... this isn't lock picking... but now i understand what it ment and it was a great tutorial.
