looks like a pretty cute movie so far. I wish I had seen it first instead of the fever pitch done with jimmy fallon. sadly I keep replaying that one in my head so it makes it hard to concentrate on this one. why do american movie studios feel he need to do versions of cute overseas movies like this one just to make a quick buck?! I really wish they would stop so people could just hunt out the original if they wanted to see it.

Are Royal Oak and Ongar real teams, or were they just made up for the movie? In the version I ordered (for Canada as it also has the French title "Carton Juane" -- yellow card) the English subtitles (sadly necessary to my ears) called the brother's not-quite club "Orions" instead of "(Leyton) Orient," Alan Smith "Smudges" instead of "Smudger," and I couldn't figure out who "Griesley" was and why an Arsenal fan would call him "Satan." Now I know: Greavsie played for Spurs, there's the answer! Ha!

I love this film not only because it's so cute and funny, but because Colin Firth has said that Paul is probably more like him than any other character he's played. This film was made around the time he was married and it's evident that he was a very happy fellow. Firth insists he's pretty dorky in real life and I can see that come through in the Paul role a bit, but what straight woman in her right mind wouldn't love to love Colin Firth, nerdy or not.
