  • Somehow the textures are better edited here than in the final version.

  • The very first time I heard 'Anytime' I had to whip my head around to make sure no one was in my darken room. My Jag hooked up to my stereo system so the voice seemed to come at me from behind. Spooky, very very spooky.

  • scared the crap out of me at 2:10

  • rick rolled at 1:08 LOL

  • I played the crap outta this game (the released version). Great times

  • t6he aliens in this version look more like gigers original design

  • one thing intrigues me

what is it in this game that keeps whispering

    "anytime"

  • @Arzaker It's the Predator.

In the first Predator movie there's a guy who says that and then the Predator repeats it back from within its cloak as it observes its prey.

So whenever you hear those creepy sounds like that in the game you know there's a Predator close.

  • @viMasterJag

oh so its the predator playing back on recording

so it acts similar to the mostion sensor in warning you a a close enemy

  • @Arzaker Yep pretty much... and it also scares the crap out of you haha!

  • @viMasterJag

    especialy when you here

    Beep beep beep beep

    "anytime

    Both at the same time

  • 1:57

    BOO(FIRES)

    aww damn

no fair ...well ihope your happy now i cant fucking move ....

    can this get anyworse (boom)

  • Lmao motion tracker doesnt work haha

  • Holy fuck that looks scary and so much different from the one release

  • The Aliens in this version look scary as shit...

I guess they changed the graphics on them knowing nobody would dare play this if they looked like that :)

  • @colorschan Hehe yeah, and yet even with the final version of the game, I've never been as scared in my life playing a game haha.

  • I like the transparent hud of the retail game but i wish it was on the edges of the screen more like this alpha, kinda gets in the way on the retail game.

  • standing aliens looks creepy..

  • @RedheadMetalC Heh yeah. It's like they're trying to kill you, but they were frozen in time.

  • 1:57 lol

  • Interesting vid. I've never seen the alpha or beta versions of AvP before. Thanks for posting this!

  • its so crap because the enemys just stand in front of u... the dont do anything... man so you cant die you win every time

  • @Atillatzke It's an ALPHA version. Sheesh, it's amazing that people in this day and age still cannot RTFM!

  • @viMasterJag younger generations i tell ya. Tbh though, its an alpha build, and i would chalk it up to stupidity first, and then lack of appreciation.

  • LoL

  • this looks like it would be really fun high.

  • l doom has better graphics jajajajajaa

  • @cdljba Not really.

  • wow the gameplay looks like shit! The AI looks horrid!! and the graphics!.....jesus christ...

  • @outbreak201 This is an alpha retard.

The graphics, though... what are you comparing them to? For games back in those days, they were outstanding. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I'm guessing you're comparing it to 360 titles, which is more retarded than you are.

  • The PC versions are decent. They don't have the same atmosphere as the Jag version, but they're decent.

  • Fanboy

  • @Clay3613 Smacktard.

  • where there alien eggs in the alpha and beta versions?

  • I remember seeing the eggs in one of them, but the eggs didn't actually hatch.

  • - Would love to get my hands on both the alpha and beta versions of this. Playing through with all of the differences (what little you could play through at this point) would be awesome!

  • Do you actually own these pre-releases? If so, I would love to play them. I guess that emulator is the only way to go, obviously. Please do let me know, as this would be awesome to play about with.

    Thanks!

  • I have a binary of it, yes.

I actually use the Skunkboard to load them. You can't really rely on any of the emulators, because the compatibility is poor.

  • Hey--this really looks alot cleaner and sharper than my old version on the Jaguar--it was a cartridge game--was this version on jag cd??? The aliens look better here too...more like the original Giger design from ALIEN.

  • This is an earlier version of the retail cartridge release.

The aliens probably look better, because I'm using an s-video cable instead of the old rf adapter.

  • where do you find the pluse rifle

  • Armory. You need level 4 clearance though.

Or there's a guy in a blocked room you can get to via the airducts who has it too.

  • Sure thing,

the value of a complete copy of AvP with all that stuff you mentioned could go upwards of $75 or more. Pretty pricey for such an old game, but those overlays are TOUGH to come by separately.

  • I remember seeing stills of this a million years ago in GameFan Magazine - way beck in '93 when I was dying for this game. It was striking how much the "hud" had changed when the game came out eventually. I gave up more money than I should have for this game and system - do I regret it; not for a second! I would give just about anything if it could be modded and made playable on custom firmware PSP. Please -Anyone?

  • Yeah, would be cool to play them on a PSP, but the Jag's hardware is uber-complicated.

There isn't even a PC emulator that will play the majority of the games flawlessly.

  • Lulz, aliens explodes

  • Greatest game on the jaguar by FAR!!! nice video!!! very interesting to see the alpha release!

  • Fascinating. Several differences... The lines of the display are thinner, guns arn't added at this time.. Sounds have been multisampled (why they sound lower), the ammo pick up is different, alien looks different, face hugger is a bit bigger, doors & walls are different etc etc! I actualy heard that the reason why this game looked so good is coz they built a model of many levels & photographed it. So wat you see once existed in small form!

    Quality game tho.

  • What they did was photograph wall panels that they designed out of wood, foam core, paint, plastics and styrofoam. The Alien and Predator were photosourced from models, the marine was actually a guy in a costume with a pulse rifle. The uniform was actually from Aliens too. The weapons were a combination of Photo sourced work and drawing stuff on a computer.

  • how do u know this? Did you help design it or sumit?

  • It was in an interview released back in the 90's. They went to a lot of work to make it look as realistic as they could.

  • Fascinating. I always wondered how this game looked far superior to the others.

  • Does the atari jaguar have a joybox? I heard they have been making joyboxs since the first systems and i need one for the jaguar controller. plz tell me.

  • that alien at 2 mins looks like it has the face of the hybrid from ressurication?sorry cant type but thats weird cause that movie didnt com out till like 98 and this game was like 94 i think?

  • Pretty interestin...kinda cold blooded the aliens dont let you know that their right there behind you...it seems like every time he turns around there goes one..scary but cool all the same...i like it.

  • HOLY CRAP that Predator is big and scrary! :O The marine doesnt sway when he walks in this version... He moves faster than the final version though. This is really cool though, where did you get it!?

  • It was on Linkovitch's archive site, which I heard was down or something recently. Not sure if it's still there.

Anyway, it was there and loaded it up on the skunk ;)

  • Cool, thanks for the new Jag videos. Gotta add them to the Jag Video Wiki @ JSII. :P There's almost the whole library of Jag games on Youtube now! :D
