I totally agree! The single remix version packs a major punch. It is more gear toward radio airplay. The album version would be more at home at a nightclub mixed with similar songs. I enjoy both versions!
@MoJoRod30 Good for you! Average men have more intellect and more prospects; the others are just "No Brains, ALL Brawn". LOL And yes, this hit song was a smash back in the mid-80s. Discos all over Spain were blasting it!
hey hey BOY!!!!! i want a banana split!!!!! very underappreciated pop band!!!! for what they did in their genre of music they were the cream of the crop!!!! and very HUGE in gay clubs and underground bars!!!
This version sounds a bit too urban for Top 40 radio. The single remix was the best decision the label could have made, really. This version isn't bad, but the single version sure has more flavour.
too urban? I'm not sure what you mean here. I understand why the single was remixed--to capture on the feeling Venus had left, but it may have been overkill. Still, I like all the versions today.
I can kinda see why UltraPOP considered this a bit "urban."
The synthesizer used for the bass-line sounds like something from the Hot Black Singles/R&B Charts circa the mid-1980s, and it reminds me of "Baby Come and Get It" by the Pointer Sisters. The other synths don't really sound like anything SAW usually use.
Granted, it IS Stock/Aitken/Waterman, and I like it because of that. But I can't help but listen to this and think it was meant for somebody else...like Princess or O'chi Brown...
@garyifny I'd never heard "Boogie Oogie Oogie", before. I just listened: it does sound almost exact. I think SAW maybe changed up two notes. Pretty close though. Thanks for brining that to our attention. Great song by A Taste of Honey.
When I originally bought "True Confessions", I admit I was disappointed in this version after hearing the MTV video mix first. But now, after hearing it again on Youtube, I'm really appreciating it for the great track it is.
This is one of their underrated songs. So cool.

I have to say I prefer the single version, to me it has more bite and sass. This version isn't bad however.

Wonderful editing. This version is much more pleasing to the ear v/s the single mix.

Great job with the editing. I ALWAYS preferred this version to the single mix. Stock-Aitken-Waterman are DA BOMB!

Every song, every album Bananarama has ever come out with is spectacular! Excellent trio!!

The album version has a certain sultry quality that was lost in the single version.

The bassline is a direct steal from A Taste of Honey's "Boogie Oogie Oogie."
That said, this song f**king rocks with either mix.
garyifny 2 years ago
Really? I'll have to listen to that song when I get the chance.
If it is, though, it wouldn't surprise me. The bassline for "Never Gonna Give You Up" is a complete mirror of Colonel Abrams' "Trapped..."
