  • Thank you youtube for sending me this in my recommends.

  • I got to see these guys live in SAN JOSE in 2010! ...It was a fucking killer show. Nice guys too!

  • i think this band proofs that good music can still be made

  • @Winowha I promise you, there's like five times as good bands now as in the 70s and 80s, they just don't get enough attention.

  • 05:27 Sets upon sea of light, the non-returner soars The opal rays beam preceptor on approach tenan Glows lunar host, ascendant freedom transference, fuse the watcher at jericho Sets upon sea of light, deliverance the opal rays beam preceptor on approach tenan Glows lunar host, ascendant freedom Transference, fuse the watcher at Jericho Sets upon sea of light, the non-returner soars The opal rays beam preceptor on approach tenan And glows lunar host, ascendant freedom...
  • just because you mention that you smoke weed on the internet doesnt make you cool - this is about music and vibes and if u need that to feel them then theres something wrong with you

  • @coloursofsleep ah shut up

  • Certainly don't need to smoke weed to appreciate this masterpiece.

    Holy shit.

  • схит из допе нигга

  • @Y0van shit is dope.

  • I've listened to this song nearly everyday since the album came out and it still blows my fucking mind

  • Why the hell did I not discover this band before? Words can't describe how badass this is.

  • It's probably not for everyone but personally for me this is one of the greatest songs i've ever heard. SHRINEBUILDER rule.

  • Comment removed

  • Best song from Shrinebuilder!

  • Never heard Shrinebuilder before. Blew my mind.

  • PS, best record cover since Ed Repka.

  • @greendreamism if u haven't yet, check out josh graham's (a storm of light) art site. his album covers are ALL... SOOO... epic.

  • I had a feeling Scott Kelly would make this sound pretty dated, and he did. But it still sounds totally rad!

  • @greendreamism Although its a totally awesome album, for my money Scott does provide a few lesser moments with his hard man, screamed vocals. He's fantastic on this one tho, all understated yet still that fire that burns and simmers beneath. Wish he had sang the rest of the record in this way. As for the LP cover it's had its naysayers but im with you on this one its totally cool. It visually conjures up the whole concept that bind the members.

  • mmm vibrationssssssssmmsbmmmmemmmemmmooooommmmmmrmsssssssssss

  • Oi leipsoi sas agapane glikoulides

  • The best "supergroup" album ever.

  • please please tour . i cant imagine hearing this live, then i can say i truly lived

  • is it just me or does everytime i hear al's voice it feels like hes pulling me into the damn computer ad about to like bring into some other realm?

  • Their lead singer has a soul sucking voice. Chest sinks in at certain parts of this song.

  • Does Al sing 'Deliverance' instead "The non returner soars" the second time? Give me a hell yeah. And if anyone wonders where Tenan is it stand for mother or portective stone.

  • @mrsir4 Yeah, genres are just usefull tools to judge music and the arts right away. E.g. -Not all country is honky hoedown gospels, there's old school folk bluesy country (which was the basis for rock and roll). The arts are really complex since they cannot just be measured in sound alone.

  • I Just Came In My Ear Pussy..

  • @tegartydan Hahhahaha I am totally using this phrase from now until my death

  • awesome

  • is it Al on vocals?

  • @blackenedintheend al doesnt take over until the chanting part.. first part is Scott Kelly

  • @blackenedintheend Yeah, and Scott Kelly for the verses I believe.

  • @blackenedintheend Scott Kelly first and then Al later on

  • So heavy and slow... I love this song!

  • i dont know if it was the gear coming on.. or did this song just make total sense at 3:35? mad tune..

  • Comment removed

  • sludgey as fuck while still having an undertone of melody that keeps the song together... awesome.

  • @1masterdestroyer Its just three melodies playing at the same time :P ,its meant to fuck with you ^^

  • Ifavoured this just by its first 6 seconds...

  • Every time I go to this song on youtube, I press the like button because it deserves more likes than it already has.

  • From 5:12 on, Om with guitars.

  • i get naked and build shrines in the forest whenever possible.it sunny outside.im gonna get so stoned i can fly and land in the woods buck naked.there i will raise skulls and bones and rail my woman till she cries out in agony.im bringin my laptop so i can play this while im doing all that.what a hypocrite.

  • @mrsir4 It's still Doom/Sludge :)

  • not bad. not amazing.

  • is it just me or does al cisneros make everything sound 10x more fucking epic when hes in it :)

  • @cavs608 Yep Mr Cisneros is the driving force of awesome in whatever he embarks upon!

  • @EVILSTACK him and chris hakius are my two most biggest inspirtations in music.if it wasnt for sleep i wouldnt ever have fallen in love with music :)

  • @cavs608 Pretty much the same here. What i love about all of Al's work is that there is real substance there. It isnt superficial or tacked on meaning, it runs deep and is central to the bands at their core. I think that his interest in spirituality and meditation inexplicably finds its way into and contributes also. As a listener that density of creation rubs off. The songs are not showy, technical exercises but tonal poems that resonate somewhere within us more so than a simple song. Al rules!

  • @EVILSTACK al is the literary equivilent to shakespeare and the musical equivialnt of god :)

  • Im more than ready for album 2!

  • The best "supergroup" album ever. Usually this type of idea is overblown and full of egos that get in the way. Not so with SHRINEBUILER>>>>>>

  • Hey buddy, if you got into this kind of music when you were sober, you should smoke a huge joint, THEN listen....WAY better

  • Killer!

  • the Cisneros part.... yeah...

  • NEW GRUNGE !!!!!!!

  • was hatte ich schon spass mit der mukke alter !

  • i know this is pretty much stoner metal but why do more and more people only listen to music while stoned...? can't you people understand music on your own? you need some sort of hallucinogen to explain the feeling you need to get while listening to a fine tune? weaklings...

  • @lorand133 some one is afraid of losing control.

  • @eggfleece i don't do drugs. not even MJ which i totally approve.

  • @lorand133 im sure youre lots of fun to hang out with

  • @eggfleece see this is exactly what i mean. Why do people think that 'coolness' and 'open mindness' and even the understanding of some music can come only after smoking pot. i cannot tell you how 'fun' i am to hang out with because you don't know me and it would just stupid to tell you that i am a fun person. Anyway, what i actually want to say is that you can understand music even if you're not high. you just have to look in the right places of a song. peace dude

  • @lorand133 why are you trying to get to the bottom of what other people think?...smoke some fucking weed.

  • @eggfleece whatever man... i'm not going to force my opinions on anybody. you should go and smoke some weed if you like it. i'm not blaming anybody for doing it. it's just that i've been studying music for 12 years and i got to feel it with no artificial stimulant just my soul...this sounded kind of fruity. anyway :)) think i'm just gonna go and fuck my brain cells and liver with a pint of beer

  • @lorand133 I can totally feel their music without being under ANY influence. I have studied music for OVER 12 years, and YES.. I CAN feel it.. with ALL of my Soul ;D On a side note.. if I WERE going to listen to them under any influence, I would certainly much rather do so on the herb, rather than rotting my gut and liver on alcohol. You don't see people dying from rotten livers from smoking the herb, yet you see it with alcohol every day. You've rotted cells, liver & all that studying

  • @lorand133 damn dude, just smoke a bowl and chill out...

  • Ich hoffe, von shrinebuilder hört man noch viel! echt geile mucke. erinnert mich an den hardrock der 70er jahre!!!!!!

  • interesting to see the paths that the guys from Sleep have taken. Cisneros with this epic album playing off of the kind of thing he was doing in Om (great rhythm band). Matt Pike is doing his heavy shred thing with High On Fire... quite different from the simple heavy stoner riffs of Sleep.

  • @krazyzark And Hakius is a monk. Go figure.

  • driving with my mates, high as a kite with this album blaring. So good!

  • people probably won't agree but the singer really sounds like Hetfield in the beginning

  • Pyramid Of The Moon is absolutely amazing stuff from these four musical gods. Even after playing this album to death for over a year i still think it's an awesome, AWESOME record. Cannot wait for more!

  • The best doom song I`ve heard since years...love it.

  • there needs to be another button that sends you to a mountain where you can meditate for the rest of eternity with the sun gods.

  • Al Cisneros is a god. When he comes in on vocals.... stonergasm.

  • @Morik521 god i love Om so much

  • Dale Crover and Al Cisneros in one great band. what could possibly go wrong

  • @Dylanquinn666 Ya damn rigghtt!

  • I need a huge, size o' my screen, green weedian button. Just so nobody can ever MAKE A FUCKING MISS THE LIKE BUTTON JOKE AGAIN. And because no other button would be sufficient for this music. Wino is king.

  • fuck, i accidentially clicked the like button. I meant to click the totaly fucking epic button...

  • @ifiwerethesonofgod tunes like this are why that button needs to be clearly marked and twice the size of the others.

  • @ifiwerethesonofgod Hahaha! YESS!

  • @ifiwerethesonofgod hate it when that happens

  • @ifiwerethesonofgod i think that there should be an "epic piece of shit" button. these assholes repeat their guitar riffs as much as a shit rap song, and it is very monotone.

  • @pastulioxx1 you don't smoke enough weed.

  • @pastulioxx1 clearly you don't listen to much sludgemetal.

  • @invertedteapot never even heard of the genre.

  • @pastulioxx1 is obviously an idiot troll with no purpose in life other than to critique those that are following their own dreams.. im sorry i havent heard yr album or single song... dont be mad cause you spend yr life eeking out a living while yr boss gets rich off yr work... if you dont like.. go away..

  • @dogthruhoopbullshit cry me a river. I'm sorry, but this is talent-less music. Any 5 yr old play the same damn chords over and over. The only good thing about this song are the vocals; at least they can harmonize.

  • @pastulioxx1 no need to apologize. opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

  • @pastulioxx1 Riffs don't have to be technical and hard to be good. Most important thing is that they make you feel something. This makes me feel calm and high. I like also technical music (Meshuggah, Gojira etc.) and they are good on what they do and i love the complex riffs and all. IMO it's pointless to say that "5 year old could play this" ..maybe the 5 year old kid could play this, but it doesn't make the riffs and the whole song bad. This song takes me carried away every time.

  • @pastulioxx1 just keep proving my point troll, as i said, you dont like it? go away. yr the only one crying like a bitch...

  • @pastulioxx1 go listen to djent than, glhf

  • @pastulioxx1 do you play a guitar? if you did you would notice many different melodies, rythms,CHORDS and even tempo changes. you know NOTHING about what your talking about. you simply don't get it, and you need to feel good about yourself, because we DO get it

  • I read somewhere in an interview with Scott Kelly that Al and Scott totally improvised the chants at around 3:43. He said they had never done that in rehearsals up until that point in the studio. Also, this album was recorded in less than 3 days. Amazing group.

  • How the fuck could you dislike this??

  • i just arrived from a shrinebuilder gig. dear god, they're beyond awesome live.

  • @loois

    sweet name loois

    and yeah they're good.

My friends are supporting them in glasgow on sunday.

  • Metal doesn't need to be fast and brutal to be awesome. This is... I just can't seem to find a word to describe the epicness of this song.

  • @PisauraXTX agreed. wino fucking rocks...it's okay to like slow rock.

  • fucking brutal song

  • WOOOOOOOO STONER ROCK

  • What the heck do NWOBHM have to do with what bands like Shrinebuilder are doing? Yeah, they are both metal but they offer such different moods and dynamics.

  • one month later i'll see them live,,

  • @DOWN0FREE0THINKER Ha, a month has past! Were they awesome??

  • Reality has been bent through a prism of warped glass.... vortex of oblivion distorts space and burns time until only chaos remains....

  • i want to wear a cloak and chant

  • A supergroup.....yes, but these people make music for pure atmosphere, not 'hits'. I think this is the only way a 'supergroup' works properly. Plus, hearing Al Cisneros and Scott Kelly's vocals on one track is ridiculously epic. Plus, I'm drunk.

  • 3:43 - 4:20 gave me goosebumps (in a fucking good way)

  • awesome shit. grew up with wino. those we're the good old days

  • Bust out the mug and put one in the air wookie style.

  • ...and so powerful !

  • so good

  • @GodlikeGuitar Heck no bud! They rule! They're not selling themselves out, they're still loyal to their roots (Metallica didn't, actually, in the early 90s, and the last Iron Maiden song, "El Dorado", has a little modern rock'n'roll inspiration in the vein of Nashville Pussy, at least in my opinion: it's not as cool as "Run To The Hills" or "Flight Of Icarus", but it's listenable: obviously sludge is far cooler than "El Dorado", ONLY than "Dorado":Iron Maiden just had a lack of inspiration

  • 5 stars for shrino !

  • I really love this band. The bad thing is I looked around to buy the album, but I had no luck :(

  • @Ereinion04 try online

  • Man, 5:13 on kicks my ass to pieces! Awesome song.

  • @8FtSpider Yes it certainly does. That's riff heaven here on earth.

  • Sounds great to me,as does most everything Wino did/does.Nice artwork too on the CD cover!

  • Shrinebuilder's sound and wholeness is completely crap compared to old Om. They have went commercial and classical. A huge step back from what they were so lucky to start with.

  • I love this band...

  • Awesomely epic shit

  • serj tankian meets black sabbath?

  • @wasup23tube

good one man, agree, though hes nowhere near as crazy or chaotic vocally as Serj, very mellow...

  • @NotSober100 search for waiting here from serj tankian he sings mellow hes actually pretty good at it too

  • @wasup23tube Serj Tankian? Shut up.

  • My problem with a lot of stoner metal type bands is the vocals. I know its not supposed to be death metal or grind vocals, but to me they are often too soft. This dudes voice fits the style much better.

  • ok so i listen to some of the fastest blastbeat metal out there(tbdm, malevolent creation, anata, the faceless, necrophagist, etc) but i absolutly love doom/stoner metal...ive been in love with it since i heard sabbath and deep purple way back when i was a wee lad...so slow and heavy. oh and bands like sleep and electric wizard are amazing too, try cough if anyones intersted, almost black metal vocals over heavy ass riffs and drums...badass shit

  • @nymphogonzo1987 Thank you for that comment. I checked out Cough. Nothing is the same anymore. Amen |m|

  • @VeilsItWhite yeah man Cough is badass...try yob, theyre also badass

  • @nymphogonzo1987 Still,i love you every time i listen to 288 years of Sin smashed out of my fuckin' mind. I'll check them out, thanks bro!

  • Epic.

  • what i really like about stoner metal is the hypnotic feel it has, unlike any other metal.

  • Very Sabbathy...but that's cool too.

  • Now this is Heavy Metal at its finest, sit back roll one burn it and drink a frothy beverage, enjoy the madness!!

  • @bfwookie yes surely is much better than motley crue and skid row

  • @bfwookie it's actually more like post-metal but who needs labels anyways.. great band! scott kelly for king \m/

  • @bfwookie

I don't take any drugs, excepts a beer from time to time... but the effect on me is pretty much the same.

    Doom Power!

  • @bfwookie This is doom, not heavy metal.

  • @aL3ks06 This sounds more like Stoner Rock to me though. just like Dozer, The Melvins, Kyuss, Electric Wizard and other bands like that

  • @tiestnickpark Yes man, it is doom consists of stoner rock, sludge and more.

  • @tiestnickpark Why do people always have to compare? Just listen man!!

  • I love this song, but 5:11 is where it really starts getting awesome to me.

    Love this shit.

  • sweet! im a fan ov sleep, om and neurosis...sounds like theres alot more bands i could get into through these guys as well

  • Yeah same here :)

I've been hanging around the 60s and 70s era for some years now, time for some modern stuff

  • You can go wrong with people from THE MELVINS , NEUROSIS, ST.VITUS, AND SLEEP.

  • Can't go wrong with WINO playin axe.

  • i was listening to om...when i saw dis on related vids...!! sounds like the perfect music for me to get hooked on!!

  • Just Gorgeous!!

in my OPINION, it sounds like what Nirvana hoped to sound like. (sanz the ending)

It would make no sense if this wasnt a super group.

    Thanks for the post

  • this is some really cool stuff

just happened to sumble across it listening to the wounded kings and it was in the related vids box

    glad i did

  • Stoner caravan from deep space arrives

  • st vitus, obsessed, sleep, asbestosdeath, spirit caravan, melvins, acid king, bleach-era nirvana, hidden hand, om!!!!!!!!

    THE supergroup

  • @snubbs741 Spiritual Beggers :D

  • This is alright but I like The Hidden Hand Resurrection of Whiskey Foote and Spirit Caravan alot better.

  • that's like comparing Joseph Conrad to Oscar Wilde... completely different, but equally good.

  • does anyone have the lyrics?

  • @alexapos 'The opal rays preceptor on approach.... tenan....and grows lunar host ascendant freedom.....transferance.....fuse the watcher at jericho'

  • The whole record is beautifully crafted, I had high hopes for this and still got totally blown away.Essential to any doom collection!

  • This is some of the best doom I've heard in years.

    Quick question though:

Can anybody tell me who's singing where?

I used to think Wino did most of the vocals, then I found out Scott Kelly is singing, and now I hear Al is too.

If anybody can clear this up, that would be great.

    Again, awesome stuff.

    Thanks, all.

  • It's mostly Wino, but Al's voice cuts straight through the rest when he does sing; impossible to miss. Scott's voice is there, but only to harmonize, he's not significant in that aspect.

  • Scott does add a fair bit on the record. On this song he sings until Al comes in at 5:30. As for the rest its like this:

Solar Benediction - mostly Wino with a few Scott moments inbetween

Blind For All To See - only Scott

The Architect - starts with Wino until the middle where Scott takes over and you can hear Dale adding backing vocals underneath

Science Of Anger - equal part Wino & Scott with a long jam outro where Al once again handles sole vocal duties for yet more mantra magic!

  • i will see them on roadburn 2010 ^^

  • wow, that's good stuff

they're gonna play in Poland this year
