so sad i am from O'boro and when ever i drive by were it was i think what a waste all those good memories gone and for what a stupid parking lot that almost never gets used my brother had a party there and i remember that like yesterday i never new it would be my last time ever walking through those doors of the grand building and even though those lights don't really shine they still shine in my heart. Rest In Peace Executive Inn we miss you thank you old staff love yall bunches and im only 11
I actually came looking for 'my Executive' in Louisville and found your lovely videos. It's funny how watching a building can make you cry :) I loved my Executive so much and wanted to honeymoon there. Guess I can't now. Hope you have as many great memories at yours as I did at mine.
To those bagging Owensboro, which actors, actresses are from your town? What's your towns signature barbeque? Which restaurant of yours did Bill Clinton eat at? How many Little League World Series teams do you have? Which athletes are from there?
WE CAN VOTE THESE PEOPLE OUT OF OFFICE no excuse for what the did to the E watched it go up as a kid walking to school watched it go down with my grand kids it was the show piece of Owensboro to hell with the mayor
The big e was an awsome place and will always be remembered with it's great memories.I grew up seeing the big e alot and lived in Owensboro all my life and love it.I do not appreciate all of you 'dogging' Owensboro if you have never been here it's a great place and I love it so suck it up.it's awsome and that's your own opinion of Owensboro Kentucky.
I worked in the security department for Executive Inn all the way to closing day. Watching this video finally made reality hit hard for me. I really loved the thanks at the end of this video because we seriously didn't get that when we were told that we were all out of a job over the last weekend. That place will hold memories that are locked away forever now. Thank you everyone who came to the hotel at some point in life, I hope we did well to make it your best stay.
@Michaelknowshisshit for your information Kiss did not play in the Executive Inn they played in the Sportscenter and yes they almost burnt the place down but they was never Kicked out they were just banned from ever playing in a indoor show here in Owensboro
I want to personally thank you for this video. I worked at the River's Edge as a cook for 4 years and my uncle Denny in maintnance for 30 years. this video brought tears to my eyes as i watched. personally the people who brought it down will be voted out on election day and would love to see them run out of town for wiping Owensboro off the map. thanks for all the good times and memories Big E I will never forget you. you were the only job i truely loved
I was only 5 years old When the Big E opened. My Uncle Eddy was involved in its construction. I believed him when he told me the "E" on the corners were for him :-)
Great video and you could not of picked a more suitable song for it to be set to. Goodbye Big E, thanks for all the memories! You will be missed. I do love the fact that the elevator shaft with stood the implosion..... she wasn't going without a fight!
Thank you for making this video. Our mom worked there for 23 years, till the day it closed its doors. This video really gave the tribute the E deserved. God Bless you
everyone needs to understand that this has been a long time coming. The powers that be in this town have wanted that hotel gone for decades. They hated Bob Green, John Bays, and anyone who wanted to make more money than they have. Just look at who has money and who does not.
I would like to see what kind of trouble "hell" Bob Green could have given the "Payne Posse" for even thinking of doing this to that hotel. Only when he died and went would they thought of doing this to this great history of o' boro. Yes, it needed cleaning up, updating and fixing but it could have been done. At a lesser cost than blowing it to smitherines!!!Owensboro is not as popular as E'ville. Most people I know will now just go there now anyway. They actually cut their own throats!!
@brownwoman64 I very well agree with you. Payne did not even care about dropping all of us employees onto the streets. Just goes to show where Owensboro stands at the moment for its citizens.
Very sad to see her go. Definitely the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in, and agreed, for the money they spent to demolish it, they could have revived it and brought more money to Owensboro. Pity.
If Ron Payne wasn't elected, this probably wouldn't have happened. With the money that was spent to implode it they could have revived it. Sad! I'll never forget walking into one of those glass sliding doors by the pool. I thought it was open, but they were just that clean.
awesome job on the video...i stayed at the hotel many times in the years that i lived in the city and even when i lived in spencer county...lots of great memories from riding the glass elevators as a child to going and seeing loretta lynn and david alan coe in the showroom lounge...the hotel may be gone but the memories will not be forgotten...thank you for immortalizing the Big E in such a good light.
Bastards, fucking bastards, they know they could have save this. Bob Green is rolling over in his grave that the city he loved just spit on. WOW Check out Wolfgang's Vault, there are a few concerts from the Executive Inn from the 80s, this is a sad sad day great video BTW you did the Big E justice

I was there when it was built - brought some of the lighting. It was a big deal at the time. Sad to see it go, but time marches on.
