Wow looks like a great place, I am looking at teaching English in either Korea or Japan, so far the Korean apartments look far bigger and nicer than the Japanese ones, but Japan pays more money, I have a BSc Honours in Games Computing but want to teach for a while and travel in Asia
Hey, fellow Cape Bretoner! (I thought your accent sounded familiar). :-D
I'm thinking of teaching English in Korea too. How are you finding it? Did you have any teaching experience prior to going to Korea? Did you go through a recruiter?
@lesleyburt OMG! You could tell I was Cape Bretoner??? That's sad. I consider myself one of the ones with less of an accent. LOL. Anywho, teaching here is awesome. Although I am lucky. I got a great school, good teachers, and met great friends. Although I love korean stuff - music, dramas, noraebang (kareoke), etc. So this is like heaven to me.
I went through Korvia Consulting, and they go through EPIK so it's the same really. And no, I had no teaching experience before coming.
Very nice! I was stationed in Taegu from 1999-2000 at K2 airbase (near dongdaegu station). Every now and then I like to look up Taegu on YT. This brings back great memories, I loved Korea and should of stayed another year, but England was calling. Enjoy your stay, Korea is a beautiful country and Taegu was one of the best tours I had.
Hi Jackie, thanks for posting this! Is Daegu a nice area? What do you like about it? Also, which recruiter did you go through? I have recived an offer from UBC consulting for a school by the name of 'elte english academy'. How is your school? Enjoying it? It would be great to know, thank you x!
do you live near your job site? how difficult is it to read korean? like bus routes and street signs? I sent an application to teach in S. Korea today! Also was it hard to get hired? I only have a BS from Arizona State and no teachin experience :/
@laperez3 I have no teaching experience. I have BA. Daegu is a major city so transportation rocks. But transportation all over korea is awesome. You will do fine.
Fellow Nova Scotian here, heading to Daegu at the end of December to teach. Hopefully my place is as nice as yours!
Cheers
