Learn how to bunny hop (or J hop as some call it, I won't get into an argument about it), when you learn this, find little jumps, not actual jumps in like dirt, but maybe off of rocks (Enough to give you a good boost) and bunny hop off of it, get good at this and bunny hop in general, than try new tricks like bar spins, and 180's-360's. After this your going to want to learn to ride backwards, and than able to push yourself from backwards position, to front position. hope this helps [:

i respectfully disagree. i used to do both, and I found that I was progressing quite well in bmx, but i was more interested in skateboarding, and it took a lot longer for me to progress in skateboarding then it did in bmx. but of course it all depends on the person. no one can really say which is harder, because certain people are better at certain things.
