This was actually written in NY, sometime after the Great Northeast Blackout of 1965. Still, it could have been based partly on the event. I barely remember it, but it was a huge freakin deal at the time, talked about for years.
Curiously, this was not a big hit in Massachusetts and never gets much airplay there. Unlike the Standell's Dirty Water which has been played nearly nonstop there for the past 45 years.
I, also, will remember Massachusetts, like the Bee Gees remember ther "Great Northeast Blackout" in November of 1965 when they were about to perform in Boston and the "Lights all went Down in Massachusetts..." Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Massachusetts...
