I was there, it was amazing. Paradiso is such a beautiful venue, Jimmy eat World is such a great band and 23 is such a pretty song. Paradiso used to be a church so, Holy trinity :)
WoW! F-in Love Jimmy Eat World! Listenin to alot of Jimmy Eat World, Hey You!, The Offspring, Weezer, Paramore, No Doubt, and Blink-182....
Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaay dope. Rock/Punk/Pop with a real cool edge. Plus they've got a cute chick singer ;-) ....check em out....
My 2 favourite JEW songs came off futures, this one and Polaris not to mention other cracking tunes like Work and Pain. Only the last 3 tracks let the album down. Until then I'd say its the best they've done
does anybody have the interview where jimmy eat world talk about when they played "23" at a gig and somebody proposed to their girlfriend and all of the crowd moved away to let them dance to it. i think i saw it on buzznet a while ago
@letsargueyaaaay drugs or me is an easy start. it's just an effortless record in my opinion, aside from a small handful of really great songs smoshed inbetween some over-produced label-motivated popternative.
@musicforchewfaygs I can't relate to that opinion... Even if, theoretically, Futures got zero effort, Invented had to have gotten negative effort. Even the songs that aren't completely lovable, like Drugs Or Me, are worth listening to.
Calling a record over-produced is a silly excuse for reasoning. On top of that, I think Futures has more heart and personality than any other album. If that's "label-motivated," then every album ever released is horrible by your standards.
@letsargueyaaaay thats not true. the label doesn't make the album. but sometimes you can hear the label on the album. capitol released all of jimmies albums but they didnt even touch the content untill bleed american got so big.
i think capitol reworked the band in a way, and in a way i think jimmy kinda let them.
for example, i love love love LOVE static prevails, but their producer didn't squeeze himself into the tracks like you can hear on futures.
@musicforchewfaygs - Capitol only released two albums, man. Also, I'm not pretending to know exactly what happened with the whole situation, but the band's (or label's?) first choice of producer for the album was Mark Trombino. Now, whether or not you think the album was too heavily produced, comparing the Trombino Sessions to what got mixed and mastered for the final CD, the stuff Gil Norton did was higher quality. So, what if "over-produced" and "label-driven" made the CD better?
@letsargueyaaaay the trombino sessions of futures were never mastered, so you can't complain about the quality. the mastering process makes a big difference from the way the song sounds recorded to the way it sounds on the record.
@musicforchewfaygs Please note I said exactly these words: "... comparing the Trombino Sessions to what got mixed and mastered for the final CD..." I obviously know that mixing makes a HUGE difference, and mastering makes a HUGE difference. I'm not referring to the sound quality, rather to the overall sound and the actual quality of the PRODUCTION. I think Gil Norton did a better job, although I also think that the two CD's would be remarkably similar because it was JEW's music no matter what.
@Spaceplatypus "dizzy" is very close second :) but I could listen to 23 over and over .....it calms me in an odd melancholic way every time i hear it.

My dad often tells me that the greatest rock-artists who are world famous played there when they were hardly known
Still proud to be a Canadian though!!
