  • how many times does he gotta save the bitch? he better get some luvin after all that.

  • one of the best game back in the 80's

  • MASTER!!!!!!!!!

  • They had great ideas back then. But they didnt have the tech to execute it.

  • I play this on NES when i was little.

At that time, for some reason, i always thought that the blue ninja 'spoon-ed' the princess with his foot.

  • I have it on a "80-in-1" cartridge. The player controls make it ideal to hack into a Matrix game. :D

Btw, that cart has full-speed Galaxian version. Pretty cool to play after those half-speed slow galaxians.

  • I loved this game as a kid... I used to love this Kage guy because of his bravery to rescue the princess...

  • at 1:38 that was an awesome jutsu

  • @watef3 It's the Jesus jutsu.....

Don't interrupt me.....I'm talking to God.......

  • @HolyknightVader999 Rinnegan? Sage of six paths?

  • BTW..how did you record this vid?..did you use a camera or sumthing?

  • Hey, this was a great job playing with no lives lost. I too have have memories of this game when I was a kid.

The little hyphens are ninja scrolls.

I got this game as a kid when my brother got The Legend of Zelda. Being a jealous younger brother and not knowing what to get I bought a game that sounded like his. Of course it turned out to be an entirely different type of game.

The is pretty challenging but it gets easier the more you play. I actually cheated a bit. We bought the NES controlle

  • good job taito fun game

  • I was told that the hyphens are bibles, so when he starts reading it, those "evil" ninjas simply die hehe, great vid man!

  • nostalgic, eh ?

I remember from my childhood, abusing these villains to death whenever i used to lose a life.

    :P

  • wow i love these games in nes

  • this brings back a lot of memories for me... haha

  • I think someone tried to kill Kage! That's so violent.

  • And ...so..the princess, was finally free.. after Kage remove the..

"FREE BLOWJOBS 4 NINJAS" from his back...

  • I just remembered about this game and found this :)

  • i used to love this game when i was a kid, i also played like you play it :)

  • who does he rescue? his girlfriend or his mom?

  • i loved this game as a child

  • @egglot12

    Try Yie Air Kung Fu.

  • WOW.............. I miss this game... good!

  • I loved this game at the arcade, even though I didn't get far. Anyone know the name of the kung fu game where this guy fights opponents named : Blues, Tonfun, some a dude with a spinning pole and a dude with a chain?

  • u made it look so easy.this was a hard game for me when i was little.its very cool to see the ending thanks.this gme was always in the back of my head.

  • OH SHIT! This game! Now I remember it...I just can't remember what It was called in the catridge then...

...oh the Orbs bring me back memories...I used to just stick to level 1 and keep killing ninjas and collect level ups as if it's a survival game xD

I didn't know what to do to progress because my english was very basic back then (I was about 3-5 years old)...and I don't know what to do.

Thank you for posting this Video :D

  • 1 person can't even finish level 1.

  • Played this for hours with friends when we were kids, I never beat it.

  • It's impossible not to die in this game, those cheap fucking orbs always manage to get me -_-

  • Awesome job. ahhh Nostalgia.

  • Best NES game ever.

  • So many memories, i never beat this game but i think the only reason i play it was to hear the game song , very catchie

  • those flying ninjas and their princess stealing ways:)

  • nice video. I always wondered how it ended.

  • aww,memories!!

I was so little when i played this game!

    I was like...5 years :P

but the keyboard which allowed me to play this game got broken so I couldn't play anymore:(

Now,I have this game in computer,I'm soo damn happy, but,it's not like the days when I played this game in youth, because, then,I've lost many times, but even,it was the best game in my youth :P

  • It like the game of death. I hated this game as a child. This game tortured my youth.

There are way too many cheap deaths.

  • Damn, that would piss me off. "Hey I saveds you"

    *ninja*

    *steals kiri*

    Me: FFFUUUUUUUUUU

    Over and over again.

  • I've never been a fan of this game, but I understand why people like it.

  • JAJAJAJA ME LLORAN LOS OJOS NOMAS DE ACORDARME HACE 20 ANOS JUGANDO ESTE JUEGO JAJAJA CHIDISIMO ESTE JUEGO!!!!!

  • im enjoying this way too much dude :P

  • Kage has got mad ups! So many memories of this game.

  • dude,

    mind = blown!!

  • man, this would be awesome remade for the Wii. Think, throwing ninja stars with a flick of the nunchuck/wiimote, in whatever direction. 3D gameplay

  • LOL those red ninjas fell like flies

  • never end i know i playes this game when i was little child...no end...

  • 2:37 jump = epic

  • Huh? (Too surprised to see such gameplay)

    Very nicely played!

I still consider this game hard for me now. When I was little, I quit the game after finishing the first attempt to rescue the princess.

  • I have that game in GBA...Included in 140 in 1 games...the first game is Super Mario Advance 4...:D

  • So I was like eating 8 fruit rollups and played this game for an hour and I hade to use an nes advantage controler and got to the level befor the snowiness level. I had this sudden craving for my nes today, and its all iv been doing all day!

  • I love the story at the end. LOL.

  • i do that sword swinging a lot too

  • I never beat this game. dear lord. SO many memories

  • i always loved the 1:40 part... haha...... ahh memories.

  • my fav game of all...!!! love iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

  • great

  • Such a great game... It looed like Kage didn't believe in gravity!

  • Long live the Legend of Kage! One of the most nostalgic games I've ever played. I played it a few times during like between 1991 and 1993 but then I lost the game and then I found out about it again during 2004.

  • if you beat the game the second time after the ending screen you get the same ending but under the "however..." there is a large princess kiri . weird :P

  • Boy, does this ever take me back. I used to pay the hell outta this game when I was a kid. But I had totally forgotten about it till I found this video.

  • watching you beat this game was a childhood dream come true, thanks!

  • definitly kage sucked at protecting the lady!

  • I remember crying while struggling in the winter level. I was very little. But once I finally beat the game I was like WTF that's it?!...I thought the levels were 999999.

  • me 2 i could never beat this game, im sad for watching this and realizing that this was relatively easy, damn

  • The hyphen is a scroll of some sort, I believe. I still play this damn game. Made it to winter, but never past it. Good job.

  • Damn you make this look so easy. I've never beaten this game without game genie. I'd say it's harder than battletoads. The fireball enemies are a bitch. Pop out of nowhere and BAM! instantly dead.

  • Thanks, Luigi.

It really didn't take that many attempts. I was going for no-hit at first but there were just way too many cheap moments where those orbs got me.

  • loved the music, i never beat this game i always got stuck on the 3rd level, and this was back in 1993 i was only like 8

  • @bubufubu My guess is that the algorithm of the game works like this: once you update your armor, red ninjas increase their frequency of throwing orbs.

  • @bubufubu well play btw! nice vid.

  • Poor girl.

What a curse, cant she go out for abit?

Shes gonna get raped over and over?

  • and Kage can't even watch her back or anything?

The ninja just jumps and snatches her away like nothing

  • nice game but what a stupid ending :)) not even fireworks :))

  • memories!!!

  • Great vid and nice work but I totally disagree w/ the cool game comment, this game was dumb as hell lol

  • Pretty bad game, let's face it. Hard to believe some of us paid nearly 40 dollars for the cart back in the day. If you want to see a similar game that gets exhibits what The Legend of Kage should have been like, check out Ninja Spirit on the TurboGrafx-16.

  • i got it from a garage sale back in the day :p lol but yeah it was frustrating as hell...game genie was the way to go back then too....i love the great engrish at the end too

  • i remember in this game that you can die in the tree at the 1st stage intro and after the princess has been kidnapped. You will fall from the tree dead.

  • By the way, that text sequence at the end goes way too fast lol!

  • I liked the music in that game! I tried to play it again on a 52in1 cartridge i have earlier today but it doesn't work anymore. :(

  • Oh god, this game...

It was a lot of fun...but as a kid, I never got past the first zone.

  • You're the best! I never manage to finish this game for almost 20 years... I always die before the 2nd 'castle' stage. ( I suck)

    I think most of us don't know the title when we were kids ^^;

I used to call it as the game 'with trees and ninjas', I also thought that the princess was playing some kind of instrument at the intro (a string instrument-ish lol)

  • Absolutely the bestest post I seen in a long time! YOU ROCK! OMFG! lololololol

  • i love this game! hahaha! i remember playing it when i was a kid. so good to find this game again. i even forgot the name of the game and had to google it.

  • There were also little dots or tiny little squares you could gather. I dont remember what they did though.

  • Thanks!

  • Hyphens are scrolls I think

  • Good call on that. I think you might be right. It certainly makes sense.

  • wow, that was impressive

  • Thanks man. Really appreciate the comment.

  • Yes I was also very impressed. I remember I used to play this game a lot when I was a kid back in the day. I was never able to beat it until one of my friends brought over a Game Genie lol. But awesome to see this again. I haven't seen it in YEARS. Did you know they also made a game for the DS?

  • great playing!

  • Thanks =)

  • Well done man well done . Really great game I used to play it alot .

  • Thanks. I was hoping for a no-damage run but those red ninjas always seemed to get at least a hit or two on me. Plus, I got nailed once by a blue ninja for my greediness.

It's a much cooler game than I remembered in my youth.

  • Your sword spinning move doesn't protect you from projectiles? sorry I don't know much about this game.

That prayer sequence where all ninja dies used to freak me out when I was 6

  • Well, the spinning sword seems to protect you from shurikens and MOST sword attacks. However, I believe the large orbs cannot be blocked. I'm not positive, though.

It's best to jump out of the way of the orbs and flames.

I didn't even remember the praying death sequence as a child. I hardly ever played this game.

  • When I was little I thought the hero was a girl. It confused me.

  • yeah me too, me and my brothers when we wanted to play the game and since we did not know what it was called cause the cover was in inglish, we would just say " lets play "china" thats what we thought it was called because in the portrait there is a china girl that looked like the one on the game because of the long hair and so thats why. But its a great game

    The Legend of Kage rocks!

  • Yeah that prayer sequence used to freak me out too... o.o;;;
