The healthcare bill that was passed was a Republican idea. They came up with it in the early '90s. You know, the ones who say they are "tea partiers" and say the bill is "socialism". They came up with the whole thing.
No one is denying USA healthcare reform. Especially in the tort laws (ease with which people can sue others), costing rise in cost to businesses >> Yes, healthcare is a business, as it should be -- if we want it to run efficiently.

Those 50 million Americans should be responsible for themselves. Private insurance could be affordable, if there was price competition. But the government disallow most the things that would make private health care insurance more accesable and affordable.
Why does he trust the private insurance companies that have already given us the highest health care costs in the world and denies coverage in exactly the ways he fears the government doing? Not to mention the 50 million without coverage.

What bill is he reading from? I looked over H.R. 3200 (America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009) and was unable to match anything said by Mr. Crawford to what is in the bill.

I work hard and have insurance.Alternate insurance is in place for those in need. I witness it daily.While I take my kids to the MD office for evaluation of their illness and pay a reasonable fee, others take their children with a week long fever or cough to the ER of the local hospital for treatment at a whopping charge for emergency service billed to we the people, or should I say we the taxpayers. I myself would like to have a choice in treatment, now and as a senior. I deserve the choice.

I understand some people may need assistance from the gov't - like the single mother posted here - HOWEVER, there are PROGRAMS ALREADY IN PLACE to help you. I don't believe it is EVERYONE'S responsibility to help the lazy people who collect assistance + get gov't housing + have 10 kids w/ different fathers to get MORE assistance. At first yeah...but it states that if you or your employer make 1 change, then you will be required to go with their plan. One of the largest employers in the U.S. has decided to go with the new plan, if it passes because they will only be out 8% instead of the 11% they are currently paying for their employees. Of course it's going to make it harder on the ins co's.
Mercy is the LAST thing I need! I do well 4myself & have never gotten a "handout" since the age of 16!! Never collected unemployment, disability, compensation or any other means .. have worked & will continue to work ~ I have no problem with that!! The Mayo Clinic stop taking new Medicare Primary Care patients. This bill will make it even harder to get primary care. Medicare is such a huge paperwork burden that many doctors won't even accept you. Your premiums have been going up is because of the greed of many in "the medical profession", and the greed of trial attorneys. why doesn't this bill mention anything about Universal Dental?, hmmmm, maybe the local greedy dentist has someone in Washington looking after him.
I also am a single parent raising 3 children without child support. I also pay for the student loans that took me through school and allowed me a profession in the medical field through hard work and dedication. No hand outs. Hard work and dedication improved my situation. The proposed health care reform is an insult to our intelligence as a nation. The blind following of our current officials in office is almost humerous if it were not a real and immediate danger to the freedom of our country.
All this healthcare bill is to get more money out of our pockets to patch the other failing programs. The government has been writing IOUs to social security for many years and its now almost bankrupt. Thank you Mr. Crawford I hope this wakes people up.

As a *young* elderly person my health future with this bill is non-existant. I pray that those of you with family,or loved ones, who also have health issues, really, truly, read the bill, then apply it to yourself, your family or friends. See how you fare when it hits close to home. Genetics play a huge part in your own future& time flies alot faster than you think -no matter your age!
....I'm one of the *elderly* -62. I have osteoarthritis, & other issues, which hit me at 36 years. I can barely walk due 2 the disease, which isnt curable. Many surgeries later (after having worked 4 many yrs) I was medically disabled & retired in 2002 with a small pension & Medicare.

My daughter in Miami just found out she's pregnant. Her doctor informed her they are only allowed so many pregnant patients per month. The nightmare is already here! This means more women will not get healthcare throughout their pregnancy!

The new health care bill will not change your Medicare. There are far too many people who have no insurance, and therefore, no care. The law he refers to that guarantees emergency room care to everyone is available only if you are in labor or have a life-threatening emergency. Hospitals can and do turn people away. Strep throat care in clinic = about $100. Hospital ER = minimum of $350, and most likely more. What is the best use of OUR taxpayer dollars.
It so often seems like we are defenseless --but we are not !!! We can exact punishment for these evil "employees" at the ballot box and you can be certain that we will. When we do retake our goverment we will reverse everyone of your terrible actions---including your pensions !! Job counseling is a great recommendation for you !!

I think he is right and the best thing to do would be to throw all the Representatives and Senators out. All it takes is a vote for the unelected. And mandate that there be term limits and Lobbying be made illegal. No one can hold a national office for more than 2 terms and there is no special retirement or continuation of salary and benefits. Also all retirement benefits consist of what we get - Social Security and the Medical Plan they vote vote the people is good enough for them.
So are all attorneys paid the same amount? All doctors are not of the same skill set.
Killing the elderly is exactly what is already being done. I watched a lady die over 8 days, with a broken hip--given drugs so she would have no pain--but also she became so confused by the meds she could not eat or drink. This was done in MN by a hospice care sent to 'ease' the elderly out of their lives. The population doesn't understand what is happening, when they sign a DNR and DNI. It's death 2 U!

I work hard and have insurance.Alternate insurance is in place for those in need. I witness it daily.While I take my kids to the MD office for evaluation of their illness and pay a reasonable fee, others take their children with a week long fever or cough to the ER of the local hospital for treatment at a whopping charge for emergency service billed to we the people, or should I say we the taxpayers. I myself would like to have a choice in treatment, now and as a senior. I deserve the choice.

Additionally, why should I be FORCED to purchase crap healthcare by the gov't? I can purchase crap healthcare now, but I opt out. This is going to take away our freedom to choose our insurance plans, providers, EVERYTHING, and those who don't purchase "the new" healthcare, will risk going to jail?!?!? I understand some people may need assistance from the gov't - like the single mother posted here - HOWEVER, there are PROGRAMS ALREADY IN PLACE to help you. I don't believe it is EVERYONE'S responsibility to help the lazy people who collect assistance + get gov't housing + have 10 kids w/ different fathers to get MORE assistance. It's a never ending cycle in communities like this and we TAX PAYER'S are forever supporting their unwillingness to contribute to their community!

What are they doing for these? They get to change the rules of the game to not pay bills so that they can contniue to deepen their own pockets! What you don't realize is that this health care bill is a trillion times worse than what we have now. It DOES say that they will require our banking info....hmmm wonder why...maybe so they can charge us for things without our approval and what about when they make a mistake? Have you ever dealt with trying to get things straightened out on incorrect charges on your account???? Until they come up with a bill that truly addresses what the people want THEN IT SHOULD BE THROWN OUT!!!!

My comment was in response to ...darlynhoney's comments. She was thinking this would just be an alternative.. At first yeah...but it states that if you or your employer make 1 change, then you will be required to go with their plan. One of the largest employers in the U.S. has decided to go with the new plan, if it passes because they will only be out 8% instead of the 11% they are currently paying for their employees. Of course it's going to make it harder on the ins co's.

Mercy is the LAST thing I need! I do well 4myself & have never gotten a "handout" since the age of 16!! Never collected unemployment, disability, compensation or any other means .. have worked & will continue to work ~ I have no problem with that!! There was never a "poor" decision made ~ I have 2 beautiful daughters in college & wouldn't change a thing! I'm not looking for anybody to pay my way! I'll pay ins premiums!! That's not what this is about!

The Mayo Clinic stop taking new Medicare Primary Care patients. This bill will make it even harder to get primary care. Medicare is such a huge paperwork burden that many doctors won't even accept you. Your premiums have been going up is because of the greed of many in "the medical profession", and the greed of trial attorneys. why doesn't this bill mention anything about Universal Dental?, hmmmm, maybe the local greedy dentist has someone in Washington looking after him.

I also pay for the student loans that took me through school and allowed me a profession in the medical field through hard work and dedication. No hand outs. Hard work and dedication improved my situation. The proposed health care reform is an insult to our intelligence as a nation. The blind following of our current officials in office is almost humerous if it were not a real and immediate danger to the freedom of our country.

....I'm one of the *elderly* -62. I have osteoarthritis, & other issues, which hit me at 36 years. I can barely walk due 2 the disease, which isnt curable. Many surgeries later (after having worked 4 many yrs) I was medically disabled & retired in 2002 with a small pension & Medicare.

Mr. Crawford brings up serveral good points. However, I am only going to adress one, regardless of what you think about this: If the idea is to redistribute and make available for all, then why do the polititians get to keep different system? Shouldn't everyone, to include our senators, be on the same system?
I agree that we need a better system. But this is still America, land of the free. Why shouldn't we be able to get the best care that we could afford?

My daughter in Miami just found out she's pregnant. Her doctor informed her they are only allowed so many pregnant patients per month. The nightmare is already here! This means more women will not get healthcare throughout their pregnancy!

The new health care bill will not change your Medicare. There are far too many people who have no insurance, and therefore, no care. The law he refers to that guarantees emergency room care to everyone is available only if you are in labor or have a life-threatening emergency. Hospitals can and do turn people away. Strep throat care in clinic = about $100. Hospital ER = minimum of $350, and most likely more. What is the best use of OUR taxpayer dollars.

One thing this administration has done well is to wake us from our complacency. How we have let congress go on and on with exempting themselves from anything and everything pushed down our throats, giving themselves raises and perks when economy is down and up. Voting on bills that they admitted to not reading! And not a word from us to the contrary. Let your voices be heard during this next congressional election! And don't go back to sleep again. I think he is right and the best thing to do would be to throw all the Representatives and Senators out. All it takes is a vote for the unelected. And mandate that there be term limits and Lobbying be made illegal. No one can hold a national office for more than 2 terms and there is no special retirement or continuation of salary and benefits. Also all retirement benefits consist of what we get - Social Security and the Medical Plan they vote vote the people is good enough for them.

Killing the elderly is exactly what is already being done. I watched a lady die over 8 days, with a broken hip--given drugs so she would have no pain--but also she became so confused by the meds she could not eat or drink. This was done in MN by a hospice care sent to 'ease' the elderly out of their lives. The population doesn't understand what is happening, when they sign a DNR and DNI. It's death 2 U!
