I read somewhere that she kept asking Michelle, her mom, where Daddy was or when he would be back. How do you explain to a 2 year old about death and that it's the reason your dad is not around. The best way she will remember him is through stories about him, home movies, his movies and pictures. I don't think children start to have vivid memories till 3 or 4.
I think Matilda had just turned two years old when her father passed on. She adored her dad and he was a wonderful father to her and loved her. She did not truly understand what was happening when her dad passed on but I think realized that he was missing or not around.
