The reason manufacturing went to China is not because of its policies or good infrastructure. It was because of Nixon. There was no infrastructure in China in the 1980s. India can easily replicate that. What China can't copy, which it does with most technology from US, is institution like democracy, respect for individual rights, protection of intellectual property etc. Your logic, i.e. good education is equal to high literacy rate is amusing and shows lack of good education?
You should understand that cheap labor is not the only factor involved in being a dominant manufacturing base. Good infrastructure and favorable policies must also exist. I'm sure you are well aware of the poor state of India's infrastructure and the fact that labor in India is cheaper than China's should prove my above point.
Good jobs require good education. India's literacy rate is dismal. You may have a good job, but if we're talking poor lifestyles, I'd choose the poor Chinese lifestyle.

The reason manufacturing went to China is not because of its policies or good infrastructure. It was because of Nixon. There was no infrastructure in China in the 1980s. India can easily replicate that. You should understand that cheap labor is not the only factor involved in being a dominant manufacturing base. Good infrastructure and favorable policies must also exist. I'm sure you are well aware of the poor state of India's infrastructure and the fact that labor in India is cheaper than China's should prove my above point.
Good jobs require good education. India's literacy rate is dismal. You may have a good job, but if we're talking poor lifestyles, I'd choose the poor Chinese lifestyle.

It hasn't inherited Taiwan's semi-conductors yet and if it uses EMP weapons to capture Taiwan, it never will get Taiwan's semi-conductors because the EMP will destroy those factories.
