  • whats the purpose of an mpc anymore when most production software come with a built in one that slices samples much more accurate and easier? i have one that i used one time and never used it again. these are for dinosaur producers..

  • I wish they could show more what things do, rather dan talk

  • THEY NEED TO BRING NAMM TO N.Y.C

  • is it 399? or 599? , cause they say different prices every video

  • Soo could someone help me out should i get this or just get the MPK 61?

  • @YuupTheGreatness Maschine

  • im getting into making my own dubstep. i have a moog and a casio wk. is there a way i plug those into here and play the sounds through it? what exactly does this do?

  • @xIIEPiiCFAiiLx good luck with the moog if you dont know what an mpc does

  • wow. troll right. right

  • @killabeezVIP i know what it does. im just asking if there is way for me to record my moog and put it onto the mpc

  • @xIIEPiiCFAiiLx the mpc can record samples off your moog..thats the point of it.

  • Im not swapping Maschine for this.

  • this looks like a good competitor to the maschine. much better actually. but the price aint...

  • It still won't have the 'clock' of a hardware unit. I have an Axiom25 with eight pads on it running Guru and Geist. Nothing that can be done on this that I can't do with my modest setup. I love akai stuff though. I have a bit. Next up I'm gonna grab an apc20 with ableton - the akai version of ableton is the the best 'crippled' program they do. I wish I had the money for a REAL mpc 60, 1000, you know. Solid hardware clock with that 'funky' akai timing. There is a template for it in GEIST.

  • iPad with real buttons..

  • about fuking time

  • I guess this is cool but I'm loving the maschine, wouldn't switch, but its good they at least giving Native Instruments some healthy competition.

  • maschine ftw!

  • Could anyone recommend me something like this but something that works without using a computer ?

  • @HaatoSK MPC 1000 with JJOS! Still totally amazing for beat making....

  • Comment removed

  • @RichieMillions Thanks i found korg microsampler as a interesting thing to have :)

  • @HaatoSK ...mpc 2000

  • Unfortunately,Akai is pretty much the king company of Vaporware...introducing great looking new products and not shipping them....ie the Synthstation49....." released" at 2011 NAMM show...still not shipping....It would be nice if they would ship.

  • what´s the difference with maschine?

  • akai is wack now... ill stick with my caveman shit, mpc2kxl

  • @DoctorSess or step to the future with maschine.... I came from an xl and now it collects dust lol

  • @flux302 i have no need to... i make dusty beats

  • To be honest I don't like these new MPC's at all.. Trying to make that "Retro Replication" sound buttons on the Renaissance.. But now, you have to use the computer with it? Weak in my opinion.. the MPC3000 has been perfectly fine all of these years. I'm sticking with my old MPC's. But, that's just my opinion. To each is own, right?

  • Where aesthetics is concern Akai MPC Studio makes Maschine looks like outdated early 1990's technology. If the software is really good NI will have to compete for the consumers dollar in both the performance and looks category.

It's pretty obvious Maschine cant compete in the looks category.

It seems like Akai was visualizing the MPC Studio sitting next to a Macbook Pro. They look perfect next to each other.

  • @jarexx4u who cares about the looks of a controller, i mean, serously.

  • So you gotta buy the Studio... Plus the audio interface to make up for lag... Plus your own computer... Plus your own DAW. Kinda wish they'd make stand alone setups...

  • looks ok, but they're late. by the time this comes out, maschine will have its time stretching and side chaining, and this thing will be done. and its 399GBP which is like 600USD

  • yoo man fuck that im sticken with my 1000....i feel like computers is honestly killing music....damn near all the beats on the radio today is pure garbage...smh

  • @QuiteFranklyTNE stop listening radio

  • @QuiteFranklyTNE I agree Brah... Stickin with my 1000 ...

but ima get this to go with my laptop when i'm traveling so I can leave my 1000 at home...

She means to much to me...

  • im keeping my mpc500 little monster till some one hacks that shit for sure , but like a fool ill buy this or mashine , dont mess wiv the mpc500 its a monster and yea ,i use it wiv cubase and make some bad bwoy jungle

  • we getting riped off ,i dont care wat ya say . they sould of just brought some software for the mpc 500 the 1000 and 2500 ,a new o.s and, done something wiv the usb , other than data transfer ,cuz ya know wen the usb is pluged in ya can still trigger pads , right .in a daw , i mean o,s that works wiv the usb and the mpc engine it slef ,so it would of been stand alone and integrated wiv the computer but na ,they give us a midi controller and software which will cost us over £400

  • £399 Vs £265 Maschine Mikro, Akai better do something special with one.

  • I Most Definitely want to cop this ... WORD!! - Emcee Suspense

  • @bigberg3k Im still using 8.

  • @UniqueBeast216 I put those video's in the comment on your channel, send me an Invite. Peace!

  • Yeah ableton is the best way to get your creative process out in the digital realm. All These hardware controllers are based from the Schematics of Abelton so it only makes sense to go to the origin. It's almost impossible to master ableton...Which pro tools do you have?

  • The industrial design is beautiful...and seems inspired by the new Ultrabook PCs. The flat knobs will be ideal for sliding in and out of a messenger bag or backpack. It's well design for on-the-go production. All that said, I do not see any real innovation...especially comparison to NI Maschine. However, I would submit that this is superior to my MPD32...that hardly gets used.

  • 399GBP in American dollars is 761.74

  • O.K.,PRICES..

    MPC STUDIO = $599

    MPC FLY = $299

    MPC RENAISSANCE = $1299

    ALL DO OUT SUMMER 2012

  • is it better than the maschine?

  • @Mrfollowill dont think so

  • @Mrfollowill Yes it "should" be better, because it has TimeStretch. PERIOD, until Maschine has that it will not be better.

  • @bigberg3k A decent pitch shifter VST plugin in Maschine used alongside the sample tuning can have more or less the same effect as timestretching. Though quality of the results may vary. What most strikes me as a big plus for the MPC studio controller is portability. Even the Maschine Mikro controller is unnecessarily thick, with unnecessarily large buttons. And the big plus for Renaissance is built-in audio interface.

  • @Swenglish oK.. Whatever works is fine with me! I prefer using the LEAST amount of VST's in my pre production phase for CPU reasons. I believe we're at a crossroads Between REAL MPC's vs. Digital beat controllers. Where there is sort of a fine line between Professionalism and Workflow, I own the maschine and I feel as it is expendable. My MPC5000 on the other hand will remain the Nucleus of my studio period. Basically they can make these toys all day for the kids but MPC's are few n far between

  • @bigberg3k Way I see it, different tools for different users/uses. I can do a lot with Maschine, hell, I can do a lot with Jeskola Buzz (it just takes more time, but I can get a lot more surgical with the mix and automation), it's all about getting to know the tricks and working around the limitations, as I'm sure it is been with MPC's as well (and though it seems the new MPC software will do away with a bunch of limitations, it's at the expense of the standalone aspect).

  • @Swenglish Right...which means Beat Thang poses the closest capability to do what I am looking for in the standalone realm, in which noticable Latency cannot live. As long as there is no sloution for latency "They" can continue to make digital beat controllers that do this an that more surgically, but all are ultimately the same as Manually doing it in Abelton Live 8(since thats what maschine's software is based off of) without jeapordizing CPU as much. Abelton is king of Mix/Automation....

  • @bigberg3k I have a Beat Thang. I also have a PreSonus FireStudio Mobile interface for my laptop. Both can be set to buffer size 256, which is virtually no latency, but PC with decent interface can take a lot more without glitching out than Beat Thang can. I keep my Beat Thang set to 512 for stability, which is low enough latency, but due to its other limitations it's mostly good for quick ideas. It's stand-alone and portable, which is a major selling point, but Maschine can do a whole lot more.

  • @Swenglish Ok....let me ask you do you think records today "sound" better than they did in say the 90's?

  • @bigberg3k In general, no, but I think that has less to do with hardware vs software and more to do with musical trends and stricter views on sampling. Though I wouldn't necessarily deny that some people who get their hands on something that's easy to use end up not bothering to experiment with it. But that's a flaw in people, not technology. Maschine is easy to use, and you can easily make garbage with it, but you can do insane stuff with it if you think outside the box, as with many things.

  • @Swenglish MPC5000 bangs harder and has better grooves than Maschine, but maschine is easier and quicker to Mix Automate...Have fun!

  • @bigberg3k Bangs harder? Ever heard of mixing and mastering? EQ? Bit crushers? Compressors? Maximizers? Transient shapers? Creating better sounds? There's plenty of things one can do to make beats "bang harder" other than buying an MPC5000. Mind you, I'm not knocking the MPC, just saying there's no need to have a one-track mind and dismiss the alternatives just because they don't have MPC written on them. It's all about how you use it.

  • @Swenglish You forgot Parallel Compression. That's the key to make your beats knock, plus just keeping it 100 there are numerous records that people hear on the radio NOT made on a MPC. Thats just the simple truth. The only thing we could hope for Is a software thats as easy to use as a MPC hardware based model. Most of all will this thing lock to pro tools?

  • @UniqueBeast216 Some good points there, yes. As for locking to pro tools, do you by that mean running it as a plugin or some specific aspect of running it as a plugin? 'Cause it's been stated it'll run as a plugin, which I assume means it'll lock to the tempo and all that. I have limited experience with Pro Tools, though, it's not my DAW of choice, so I can't speak for its reliability.

  • @Swenglish Yeah man what im saying is this, The other AKAI controllers aren't compatible with pro tools as a controller. So If someone purchases this thing, will it only give you all the functionality with the AKAI software? I got the MPD 32 when it first dropped, it was, and still is far from flawless, but I make it work. I'm still not sure of a need to run out and cop this, they haven't yet sold me on it. It in large part seems to be a MPD, with a audio interface. What DAW you rockin?

  • @UniqueBeast216 I've never been an Akai nor ProTools user, so I'm really not the person to ask about compatibility (though Google tells me you're not alone with the MPD/ProTools problem, so I'd imagine Akai might be aware at this point). I currently work in such wibbly-wobbly ways that I do most of my instrumental work in Maschine or Buzz and then do vocals/mixing and mastering in Studio One Artist and/or Adobe Audition. Should probably upgrade Studio One to the full version at some point.

  • @UniqueBeast216 oK most of the stuff on the radio is whack...do you not agree? That being said The MPC5K may be the most difficult and cumbersome way to make a track then get to the mix VS....digitally... Also there are other DAWS than pro tools...? and some these new Akai controllers come with a DAW....leave no stone unturned...safe travels! And Dont forget to master Abelton Live!

  • @bigberg3k I agree 110%. Music is in a bad place right now. It is too funny that you would mention Ableton because that is exactlly what Im using to create in. I love that issssh. That is GOD's gift to Hip Hop truth be told! LOL Been using it like 3 years, I have not mastered it, but the two things that make it my #1 is that it may be the first software Ive been able to start creating out the gate, second is that that joint may be 5x more powerful than a MPC. Honestly.

  • @bigberg3k I would encourage anyone to go out and cop that I your doing Hip Hop, or electric music the sampling is unparalleled. 100. That's Why i am apprehensive of the new MPC. What more could it offer me. I love AKAI what they have done for hip hop, but on the flip side these software makers are kicking them in the ass right now. Ive about tried them all and Ableton is head and shoulders above from a creativity standpoint. I record in Pro Tools because the Fidelity, and pristine sound.

  • @bigberg3k Other than that Im rocking Ableton to the death! On the abundance of producers owning MPC's I can tell you this much here. Alot of them cats are fronting, If you stay up on alot of the top producers vlogs out there, most have switched to the "Box".So all Beat makers out there Im gonna give you some sound advice. Learn about Groove Quantization, Reducing Bit Rate (thats all they are doing with the switch function), and Parallel Compression. You will get the same as from a MPC. PEACE!

  • @UniqueBeast216 Which producers sir? If they dont makes tracks like Just Blaze or any of the LEGENDARY producers did with their MPC I could care less honestly. I know the difference cause Im a 1982 baby... now you may be a little younger than I am but...My generation was shunned by real Musicians that played real drums , but we still thrived with the MPC, thus today beefed up wav files will thrive the same way. It's all preference in the long run..It's the difference between an Audi and an Chevy

  • @bigberg3k Im glad you asked that bruh, I actually tried to post the video's Im speaking of. Just Blaze is exactly one of the main ones I was referring to. He actually uses Logic Pro Majority of the time, but in furtherance of my point Ski Beats, and Jazzy Jeff are using ABLETON Live. Ski Beats Produced like 80% of reasonable doubt. Jazzy Jeff has the distinguished honor of being the FIRST Hip Hop era artist to win a Grammy on an album he entirely produced. Thats about as legendary as it gets.

  • @UniqueBeast216 YES They were legendary from the MPC beats not the recent Logic or Abelton beats! We've all evolved to the DAW because it only makes sense,But I believe we loose a certain feel as music get easier to make,I havent looked yet but I've probably seen those vids, and I have done all that.I have all PC DAWs from Reaper to Pro tools 9. cubase 5 etc,I believe the increase in hardware will set producer apart from each other, Look to the right and see that MOOG bass module, it's starting.

  • @bigberg3k Well, as far as Blaze, and Ski. Have you not heard that Greatest Story Never Told; Saigon, or Ski Beatz 24 hr Karate School? Check those out they are far from legendary but Ill tell you it Kills everything Lex Luger Doing! LOL Do you know if when that Pro Tolls 10 drop you will be able to crossgrade from 8 since 9 aint even been out a year?

  • @UniqueBeast216 Dont know bout the PT10 crossgrade question, for a nice fee they might!... pt9 is my first expirience with tools...My mackie 1640i just became compatible with PT8, I come from mixing in cubase. But uh Yeah Blaze is nice with the samples mayne(Is saigon his lil brother?), I like ski for his camp lo work, and if you can remember the sound of the first camp lo which was classic material, which has a different feel as of recently but still pretty dope.. how long will luger last...?

  • @bigberg3k Secondly I am a Hip Hop Baby Sir (was born in 74).hat has studied Third I am a trained Percussionist that studied Music Abroad, as I also play the Bass as well. So the rest is up t debate. All I honestly believe that the days of Hardware based machines is nearly done. Thats all. Im gonna go to your page and post the Links.

  • @Swenglish yes the mpc5k has those FX and makes the drums SOUND fatter and more professional without touching a VST, i have plethora of plug-ins, and I use them all as tools from time to time, but I have gravitated to the drum sounds from MPC, dRUMMER Boy, Zaytoven, use the MPC, As well as AraabMusik, Swizz beats, Dre, Timbo, Big Krit...these are your HARDER hitting producers in Urban music today, But It's,Maschine is the best at what it does right now! you can Use whatever you want, I mix later

  • @bigberg3k I was never a fan of Dr. Dre, and Timbaland can be described many ways (detail freak, for one thing), but I'm not sure I'd call him hard hitting. A lot of people I look up to have used MPC's, though, and I'm not knocking it. Hell, I could name a couple great producers who still only use Roland/Boss SP samplers, and those are quite limiting to work with. Just saying a big part of it is in how you use it. MPC's aren't automatic quality generators, neither is anything else.

  • @Swenglish Lets not say that the MPC is gods gift to beatmaking, well it sorta is but, what Im saying is that since you dont like Dr Dre or timbaland we are not on the same wavelength. Please tell me who uses Roland or Boss samplers as their main sequencer...? Are we comparing oranges to apples or what?...LOL....who's ensenuating that the MPC is a auto quality generator? and if neither is anything else, why say so?

  • @bigberg3k Well, for one, I'm pretty sure MadLib uses an SP. MF Doom as well, I think. RZA has used all kinds of stuff, including Roland MV 8800. All do great, dirty stuff. As for Timbaland, I don't dislike him, per se, he's good at what he does, I just wouldn't characterize him as "hard hitting", his stuff tends to be more about rhythm than punch, and probably wouldn't sound that much different being made with software. Oh, and DJ Nu-Mark has jumped unharmed from MPC to Maschine.

  • @Swenglish Id like to get my hands on a MV thats a classic peice of equipment...what do you have to say for AraabMusik?

  • @bigberg3k I've heard very little of AraabMuzik, but what I've heard was not bad. He's certainly a skilled finger drummer. Haven't heard him get too creative with his samples though. But that might just be me not having heard his best examples of creative sampling.

  • All these new MPCs are very nice and all that until Akai decide to stop driver development in about 3 years and you are left with a useless box.

I think I'l stick to my MPC2500 thanks..

  • it cost 399 thats a good price

  • Comment removed

  • can u patch phrase on the mpc studio

  • @theoutsideas i would ask akiaProVideo but thats just me ... all these products are to little to late honestly. there milking the game , and its a shame

  • Man it looks so sleek and sexy

  • Oh and just tell us when the product is going to drop and cut the b.s

  • Oooops I ment I need to sale my Akai 1000

  • So now I need to sale Akai 1000

  • they where amazing, i had to go back to the booth a second time

  • $399 another guy said $599 wish they could reveal the real price. What ever tho this summer is gonna be fantastic

  • @timbak4 There is no way its going to be any less than $599.

  • @MrDeemsMusic he did say 399 around 5:40, I'd be surprised if the Studio cost more 400 am assuming coz this is in America he is quoting in $.

  • @timbak4 I think the question was "Whats the U.K retail price". I'm not sure what that is in dollars. Slightly more expensive for sure. Anybody know?

  • @timbak4 slightly over 500 dollars (just looked it up)

  • @timbak4 he asked uk price on this one i think

the other one is the u.s. price

  • The first guy hasn't got a clue...

  • lol @ 2:24 when a sales rep that actually knows what hes talking about takes over..

  • Akai is Killing it !!!!!!

  • Hey, do you know if this well be DAW like as far as audio recording/editing, or just production like NI Maschine???

  • @MixWorkRecordings It's just like machine, it's a VST/AU/RTAS plugin that runs within your DAW.

  • Thank U so much...gona check em out...they look fantastic...let's see if they work well too...

  • Sorry..what is the audio interface they r using?looks fab..any info please..

  • @antistres1 Akai EIE Pro. £200 sterling.

  • @antistres1 Akai EIE Pro, check their website.

  • So what can the Renaissance do that this one can't? Because as far as I understand it, this one is just a slimline version with a few less knobs but still does the functions the same? So my question is how on Earth do Akai justify charging almost DOUBLE the price for the renaissance at £730??? I don't get it, seriously....

  • @spector969 because akai doesnt know how to market their products to consumers..anothe reason why all 3 of their new products will fail...because of pricing smh..

  • 399 British pounds = 620.0859 U.S. dollars

  • Comment removed

  • Am an MPD 32 user was considering migrating to the Maschine Mikro but will hold off right now. Thanx for the vid would have loved to see the whole setup in action though.
