  • great information's, thank you :)

  • You rambled on an on and on an gave us no technical tips what so ever.. F-stp ISO that kind of stuff...Who cares about getting there early or how you know his moves or drummer loseing his stick.. We want the info printed in the photo. F/? ISO set at? MM lens? You owe me 6 min an 55 sec of my life back

  • @nmfnyguy If you have to ask these kind of settings, then you are not ready for concert photography (no offence, just my experience).

    But to sum it up:

Aperture as wide as acceptable (most 1.4 lenses need to be stopped down to f/2 to get good sharpness)

ISO as high as acceptable (with my D7000, ISO 3200 is great, ISO 6400 is "manageable")

Focal length: TOTALLY depends on what you shoot. Apply common sense :)

You forgot shutter speed: faster than 1/100th of a second is desirable ;)

  • @mwetphoto well if you say "Photography Tutorial" you usually expect people to teach you the basic ideas of what was used for the selected images you are talking about. In any case this should be a "How to prepare yourself for a concert to take photography" title. Thanks anyways and great shots.

  • @nmfnyguy dude anyone can set a correct ISO or aperture, hell your camera can do it for you if you want .His tips on preparation and thinking about what you are going too shoot and positioning and lighting are way more valuable.

  • Great pics Jared, I'm just starting in the band world and i wanted to ask you a whole bunch of questions, I'll email you later if your willing to help. But one question i can ask u here is did you convert the pics to black and white because of the lighting? Cause thats what i find myself doing.

  • How were you able to get these pictures without motion blur? It doesn't look like their is much light besides the spot lights on the stage, so you shutter speed would be a lot slower. And if you're using the lens I think you're using, it's only a 2.8.. So how did you stop the motion? Maybe a highspeed sync with a flash? Let me know. I would really like to learn how to shoot pictures like you do.
