  • OMFG I SHOWED MY MOM THIS VID AND I SWEAR TO GOD IM HOMESCHOOLED NOW IM NOT JOKING

  • K now try Telling all That To My Mom... lol schools easy and at my school there arent really advanced classes every one excels at the same pace i wish i could be home skooled so that i cant move ahead at my own pace

  • I agree with everything

  • I only noticed the questions lately about why comments by me were removed. I don't know. I can't remember what I might have written. Sorry. It probably wasn't important.

  • i wish i was home schooled because when you were talking about school being a neutral zone and no creativity i understand because when i go to school i never upload youtube videos let alone edit videos but in the holidays

  • Wow. That is actually really true. I agree so much with that, I even hang out with people older than I am, my best freing is ; years older than me :) I eould be ibterested in seeing more of these :)

  • I agree. Get in, get out...and get on with your real life.

"The world is your school."~Martin H. Fischer

  • You are so charismatic. Loved the video. I can relate to what you where saying. I had to endure 12 yrs of public school and it was awful. When I got to college and could study what I wanted, I blossomed and excelled. I now have a 4 yr old & I am not sending her to school at all. (unless she wants to do a similar experiment like you did) ;-P I am sharing this video with my friends and family on facebook. Looking forward to watching your other videos. Best of luck in life to you!

  • Okay, I haven't even watched the video yet, but I want to point out something.

You have some awesome threads, man. o:

I've seen like three of your videos, and your clothes never failed to impress me.

  • this is exactly how i feel about school...and labor/work. i'm so glad i'm not the only one who feels this way. i spend most of my time doing something i love rather than work. unfortunately, that doesn't cut it with society in general.

  • it is rare to see people with deep thoughts. your are inspiring dog ;) :D.. even if this was to long it was worth it - it takes time to say something hear worthy. hope to see more deep vids from you sometime

  • great video. as the mother of 3 homeschoolers, i can relate to what you said. they too did a little experiment of attending public school (for a full year!) and came home with very similar comments!

great job. continue following your passions and you will go far ;)

  • I love your "neutral zone" explanation! That was a great lesson that going to school exposed you to! I love that you recognized that your neutral zone (before going to school) was at a happier place than the neutral zone of many school goers!

Best of luck in life, you are an inspiring young man!

  • Magicians are the coolest. I'm a fan of The Amazing Randi.

  • I like your conceptualizations of your high school experience; but, I don t understand why you think college is any different; at the community or university level. It is still vacuous and is a conditioning format for further compliance of the non being model of adult.

  • @dasein1959 I found college to be completely different from high school. It was far more interesting, far less regimented and far less institutionalized. The higher level classes only have people in them who care about the subject being studied. I hated high school. I could take college classes for the rest of my life, just for fun!

  • @SandraDodd What comment got removed here? Who removed it? I want to read it! ;)

  • @Pentamom It was me, accidentally having posted three times. Sorry. Nothing to see here. My computer wasn't confirming the post and I was fumbling around. I removed it.

  • @SandraDodd a second comment removed? Do you know what this comment was? i highly doubt it was spam or inappropriate! I want to hear Sandra's comment here! Who removed it?

  • It's very kind of you to suggest that perhaps the particular school you attended had unmotivated students. You gave all other schools the benefit of doubt. *Perhaps*--you kindly allowed--there are high schools where the majority of the students are alert and joyous.

I enjoyed this. I put it at (they won't let me include a link) unschooling *dot* blogspot *dot* com

  • Very cool! We're unschoolers. My 12 year old toys with the idea of trying out high school so I had her watch this video. Very proud of you! I went to school but feel (like you) that school is a complete waste of time and energy. We love and savor our freedom. I wish you all the best!

  • Very elegantly put

  • How redundant of me... You know what I mean.

  • At first when you told me about your plan I thought you were pretty insane. But after watching this...I couldn't agree with you more. I'm pretty sure you speak for more than half of the school, Zach. I completely agree with you! Good luck in your future. :)

PE was still the best class you ever had.

  • Zach, I COULDN'T AGREE MORE....And...as Mark Twain said "Never let your schooling interfere with you education" So true. School's are in place to strip people of their creative talents and conform them. *high fives*.

  • omg. you just made me realize why i dont feel like doing magic at all anymore. i just started high school and everything you said makes so much sense

  • I definitely agree with you bro. For the people in this life who have goals and passions for things at a young age why spend time doing anything else but sharpening your skills? *High Fives*

  • WHy are you homescooled in the first place? and no one enjoy's the work

  • I agree.School makes me feel like that too. And they teach you TONS stuff that you dont even need to know.It just seems so pointless, The stuff we learn is on the right track, but too much importance is given to worthless little details.

Its ok to learn what happened and why, but theres no need to learn the exact date & time!

The students in India dont really 'learn' anything, They just memorise the entire text book without understanding a word of what it means. To me, Thats just not right.

  • You great Zach! Excellent! You can also be a public speaker!

  • At 1st I wasn't going to watchj this but I'm glad I did . You make a whole lot of sense and you are a very wise young man.Good luck in life.

  • You might find some interest in "the hidden curriculum." What you explained in this video is pretty much just that. Sounds like that high school was preparing students for office jobs that aren't mentally demanding. You are wise beyond your years... kudos!

  • If I were you, I would do the same thing. I would leave high school and do the things that make me happy but I don't really have that luxury. My family doesn't have the money for home schooling. So, for me, I'll just go with the flow.

You know, you're lucky because you are able to chase you dreams.Take advantage of that :D

  • school isn't just about the work you have to do, its about who you meet, what you learn in a social light, how you learn, and what you learn outside of your classroom

  • yeah it sucks...school drains out all my energy...cannot perform that much magic because im just really tired :(

  • Hi! I found this very nice to watch, very understandable :) And I think I agree with you, but, since I don't live in the US, I find it very hard to imagine what homeschooling is like. Can you please make a video, or tell me in the comments, how you do that? I'm curious. How do you make friends? How do you know what books you need, and what if your parents can't explain a certain thing? Maybe these are weird questions, because you don't know any better, but I don't know any better as well, so:)

  • Wow you are indeed exceeding your age in brightness. I agree with you completely. Why spend your time and energy on stuff that doesn't motivate you at all? There's only one question that rises: does anybody have the opportunity to live like that or are you privileged? Money is an issue. In the end we need to earn a livelihood. You might have to do stuff you don't like then too. Think about that.

  • You have a loveable personality. I think you will make a career of your hobbies!

Your zlogs are always too long though :). I dont think that Everyday people that bump in to your videos feel like watching 10 min to find out what it is :)

But I liked this video. Its intresting to hear how someone from another culture reflecting over shared hobbies.

    I wish you good luck!

Keep it up! As long as you love what you're doing you will succed! :)

    High five!

  • @zmalm87 Thank you! I agree, they are too long. I need to limit them to around 3 minutes, but I tend to ramble :P

  • haha im gonna graduate when im 21!!! thats awesome!

  • i love you zach! chase your dreams! <3

  • this is the best video ive seen on youtube that i can remember. period.

    just my opinion

  • @ElegantMurder Wow, man thanks! I appreciate it.

  • I KNOW YOU - EIRAM

  • I like it, but you said "high school" 20 times in the beginning of the video. I'll find time to get up to the Castle at some point- Jefferson Thomson

  • You are right.... A lot of people do not appreciate what they have, and not only high school kids.
