I've never been on a plane before so I'm not sure of the rules, but why is it so specific what you can bring on the plane regarding the makeup/shampoo/etc?

@makeupforevar if it's in your checked luggage that goes in the baggage area of the plane then it's fine, if it's in your carry-on bag that you carry with you on the plane then it's too big and it will be taken from you at security.

@abbijustin if youre traveling with a baby, you can take a fold up stroller and your carry on and also a personal item ( purse, laptop, handbag) I travel with Air Canada and I think the under 100 ml still applys with baby products, unless it's a type of medication, then you will need a note from your docter

i'd actually reccommend double bagging the nail polish, cause if it breaks, then the glass can tear the plastic. also, if i bring a nyx eyeshadow with me (those ones that come in the induvidual containers) cani bring it with me? (i really dont want this to get confiscated cause they dont sell this color anymore!)

I personally have brought liquids more than 3fl.oz (perfume) and did not get it taken away. But you don't want to push your luck. I also put my shampoos/conditioner on my check in because when I travel its usually for 1 month and I need a normal sizes.

@FRcoasters yes you can but it has to be less than 3 oz if your taking it on the plane. I recommend going to sephora and getting the perfume sample kit. Or you can take a full size and put it in your checked luggage, I do not recommend this because it can get broken, they'll make you put it in a plastic bag. I hoped I helped

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you could bring it on. Just keep it exposed in a clear plastic bag or call your airline to confirm :)

Those are great tips! Especially about putting everything in plastic bags/baggies to protect your other stuff.

I'm pretty sure that only liquid products need to be under 3 oz., but other things like deodorant and Fluidline don't matter (just from frequent and recent personal experience at U.S. and international airports) - I'm not sure about gel or cream products though, so I think it's better to be on the safe side with those.

It's better to just be safe with everything and keep everything under 3oz for safety reasons and such. I just keep everything under 3oz so I know it won't get taken away from me :)

I'll be gone for 9 months (studying abroad) so I'm taking almost all of my make-up (everything except my MAC Hello Kitty stuff, since I'm terrified of losing them) but I wasn't sure what was ok for carry-on.

About locks: You can have special TSA locks on your luggage, but not regular locks.
