@MsNikiSan Well, the Blacks have the distinct advantage over us Whites. His Black complexion is another example! "White on Black" does accent the whiteness of Nat's teeth. Even Blacks can say deprecatingly: "In the dark, if you smile everyone will see you." LOL . Yes indeed he has beautiful teeth. Mine were always sub par; I blame that on my parents(Heredity, y'know). I recall while in Bermuda, I heard a local Black Boxer say "Don't smile or else..." to a group of Black kids! W on B!
@MsNikiSan You obviously are coffee addict and should be ashamed of yourself!!! LOL Now I'm in trouble: "People in Glass Houses should not throw stones!" So we are both addicts, but we both have "Good Taste". Congratulations and maybe some day, perhaps in the hereafter, we may well have a coffee together! Although, as you know, St Paul says, "The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking, but of justice, peace, and the joy given by the Holy Spirit. " A pity! (Romans 14:17)
@MsNikiSan As far as I know coffee won't kill you and coffee scientists often tell us the good it can do to our body. It is also good for the mind. We all need to relax and enjoy life often. All work and no play kills the day! So "Carpe Diem"! Myself my coffee is a time to unwind, have deep, deep thoughts, about God, people & relationships, and perhaps a conversation with a complete stranger. I try NOT to read a newspaper; we all have beter to do. "Don't Touch my Coffee!" as they say.
@watchful38 When I wake up in the morning no one talks to me until coffee is in my system. Its safer that way...Once I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and I broke the coffee cup...Afterwards, when I was capable of coherent thought, I got grounded. Mom didn't dare ground me while I wasn't even awake yet. I laughed my ass off!
this is gona sound weird but ive gota say it, i cant help but think that nat king cole looks like a black version of king george vl ! i know its a distant shot but we're all cousins under the skin, unfortunately king george didnt have nats fluency with words but never mind.
@TheWarscoming Glad to hear King George VI. He died in Jan or Feb 1952. My father was driving us to school in his '47 Cadillac. We all heard the announcement that "The King Is Dead." Then funereal music for the rest of the day. I was born in '39. My mother was pregnant with me. He visited Canada that year including Hamilton, Ont. Our family watched from the "Pigott Bldg". The Queen pointed to the 18 story Skyscraper, the only one in the city. We were on the eigth floor. (Con't)
@TheWarscoming One of the relatives says to my mother in a loud voice, "Look, Eve, there is the Queen and she is saying to the King, "Look, there is Eve Pigott, and she's expecting again!" My mother, Evelyn, told me this and so many other stories re the Family, again and again. I never said, "O Mother, you have told that story so often." No, I loved to hear my mother repeat any story(she was not senile, just had the happy faculty of not remembering!) The Bldg was built in 1929.
@TheWarscoming Yes, I can see the ressemblance between the King & Nat KING Cole. BTW the famous 4 lane HYW between Toronto, Hamilton & Niagara Falls was opened by the Queen on that visit. To this day it is called the QEW (the Queen Eluizabeth Way). I'm proud to have been born in his Reign. I was born a "British Subject", not until 1947 did we Canadians get "Canadian Citizenship"! Before '82, our Supreme Court did not exist. All cases were referred to England. ER II is in place!
I mean did you actually listen to what he was talking about in the beginning...he was already against the commercial appeal. Just straight love for the music...King Cole
nat was just a fantastic performer ,natural just like his daughter natalie who has his talent for beautiful music sung in a lovely way .god bless mum mona dedicated to my dearest mother xx
The greatest male singer ever, in my opinion. He had qualities in his voice that will never be replicated...they can't be taught...simply a gift of nature.
One of the great American popular singers. So musical, so subtle. And the more you hear Nat, the more you realize just how fine his voice was and how well he used it --
I love to buy a DVD of this. But if I had HDTV, I would need a blue ray disk of this 1961 performance. That would really make me feel like as if I am living in 1961 live and in colour!
@oneinna06 you know, I agree this is absolutely amazing. But trust me, you living in this era is a good thing, b/c although we love those good old days, we are living in the Golden Age. All we need is for us all to step up and acknowledge the people out there TODAY trying to make good music.
